How does your game fit the theme?
My approach was to try to take away things that are used to be in control of the player: the capability to jump, the aim, and also added RNG so it feels a little more "chaotic". The player can only run and shoot their hook but they take the risk and can die trying.

Did your team create the art for this game during the 48 hour time slot?

Yes

We created all art during the game jam

Did your team create the audio for this game during the 48 hour time slot?

No

We used pre-existing audio

Kind of wish my gun points to where I aimed

Clever, byst mostly becomes an exercise in patience.

Interesting take on the theme. Maybe for future updates, have the player stop at the position of the cursor and allow some slow-motion/air-time to make a second jump, say over a pit of spikes for difficulty :D

Very fun and interesting game. It was a little tedious when the cursor didn't go where I wanted it to a few times in a row but I might be missing something there? Really lovely art and polish on the game though, especially the screen transitions and player art which seem very clean and fitting for the style of game.

very nice and fun game

Good sprites and overall graphics. I like the concept

I really do wan't to like the gameplay however waiting for the right angle with the grapple made it tedious for me.  Leaving it at no-jump would be enough i think since mouse aiming would make it easier to play.

Other than that, good job!

Wow. Really well executed! The only thing that was annoying was when the  hook went off screen which happened quite often. Good thing was that the player could stop mid air while aiming. Otherwise it'd be impossible to play.

There were also two cursors once. That was funny.

Oh! And is this the end of the game?

Developer(+1)

Hi, thanks for your feedback, and for playing till the end! I think the two cursors happened to me once, but after a quick fix it never appeared again, I thought it was done. I am sorry about that, also about the last screen, it was supposed to be like a "thank you for playing" screen, but it seems like it is not working so I should take a look on it. Thanks again

No problem!

I suffered with the grapple direction, but had tons of fun!!
Maybe the grapple could be a little more skill based.

Cool stuff! I like the visuals especially. Like the feel of the grappling hook movement.

I think the game would work a lot better if you could roughly aim the grapple with your mouse (And click to fire). It'd still go back and forth, but not as randomly. I spent a lot of time waiting for it to give me the location I wanted.

Nice visuals, I love the music and audio you used. When it went off screen, it was funny but frustrating haha. The precision required sometimes was a little bit of just a "wait it out and see if this run works" thing. Out of control + precision shots is an interesting balance to make, but here's what you've got! Congratulations on submitting to the jam!

Wow this is ace! It's so interesting that the random jump cursor turns the game into a fast-reaction game to press at exactly the right time. It certainly had me concentrating!

Love the art style and atmosphere. Keeping a limited colour palette certainly helped.

My one criticism would be that the cursor would often go off the screen, especially if I was near the edges. Was a bit confusing. Should be an easy fix to restrict to screen area though.

I enjoyed that! Keep up the great work!

My main problem with this is that the direction for the grappling hook rarely seems to go in a useful direction! Very good concept though.

The aesthetic, graphics and audio were all really good. I did find the RNG aspect a bit frustrating, and found my best strategy was to just immediately launch myself in the first direction chosen for the grapple.

I love your aesthetic, and the idea is actually really unique.  I had some issues with the cursor moving off screen that really made it a bit frustrating at times.  Also the game ended with a giant empty level, is that why we cant escape, or was I supposed to go back or something?

Developer(+1)

Hi, thanks for your feedback! I am sorry about the last empty level, it was supposed to be a "thanks for playing" screen. I guess the text must have been misplaced, I'm going to test it later, thanks for noticing me.

Again, I am sorry about it, thanks for taking the time to play it to the end. I'd really like to fix those things but I think I can't upload any updates.  But in the future I'll fix the hook mechanic so it doesn't end being so tedious if anyone finds this in the future.

Have a good day and thank you again!

Love the design and execution (and the Evangelion reference)!  Also love the feeling of the cursor panning and needing to quickly be like "IS THIS RIGHT? IS THIS BAD? AH"

The style is coherent and consistent, and you had a really unique gameplay idea, but the game is not fun at all, because the main mechanic is poorly implemented :( "adding RNG" is not a way to go, you need to take some control over your creation ;) something like max distance from player would be a great place to start, you could also make it go between 8 points around your character and add a bit of wobble on top. The battery doesn't really make sense, because most of the time you'll die from the spikes anyway, as you can't stop in the mid-air (which could also be a good mechanic idea btw). Good job anyways!

Compelling idea for a game, and a great approach to the theme!

I'd also really appreciate feedback for my game, https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2020/rate/695512

Very nice idea and good execution, the grappling hook was very tricky to the point it almost felt unplayable, but overall very nice!

Nice idea, would have loved it if the cross moved a bit smoother and didn't go out of bound.

ive been seeing a lot of these rng based games, not sure why really. i dont think having everything up to just chance makes for a fun game
