Really enjoyed this one! Very cool premise and visuals.
Thank you so much, happy you enjoyed!! :D
hah this was a cool experience. Super novel, and I loved the presentation. My only criticism is that I wish the dialogue was easier to understand. I actually think it's fine to keep the main dialogue obscure if you wanted to stick to text boxes as the main form of communication, but I found myself wishing that I could hear what was being played over the radio - assuming it's meant to be heard.
I think when we come back to update this we definitely want to lower or mute the radio as Eddie is talking, should be easy enough to add a check for that! Definitely an oversight as we added Eddie's audio lines after making the radio system.
Thanks for playing and we're happy you had fun with it!! :]
I'd say accomplished exactly what you set out to do - which is high praise. The slow burn on the story was great - details like the radio repeating 'digging a six foot hole' (?) and the limbs coming into view on each crash added quite a bit to a premise that could have been very straightforward. Well done.
I'm happy to hear that the legs came down for you, I'd worried about setting the triggers a little too high for it to happen.
Thank you so much, your feedback means a lot! :>
The atmosphere here is really cool. I've always loved the vibe of driving home late at night, and this captures that really well, with a creepy twist. Plus the Voicesynth voices certainly added to the vibe, but I will echo what some of the others said, that it is sometimes hard to understand them when they overlap.
I did have some issues with getting the game in a playable state, as the default window it ran as was too small, and seemed to only show a quarter of the game view, however expanding it to my full 21:9 monitor didn't fix that. So I ended up having to full screen it on my second, 16:9 monitor instead, and that seemed to work as intended.
I will definitely be fixing the radio to lower or mute itself when Eddie speaks in an upcoming update so they don't drown each other out!
Thank you for pointing out that window issue, I didn't even think about second monitors when exporting this to boot in a small window. We sort of shrugged it off at the time that players will need to full screen it on launch but I can certainly see how that wouldn't play nice with a second monitor up! I think in the post jam update I'll be able to address that better, either having it full screen automatically or maybe play around with having window options, I should definitely learn how to make those for future games in general!
Happy you enjoyed, thanks for playing and your feedback helps a ton!! :D
Very cool game, it definitely illustrates the experience of being lost and driving late at night! I would love to see something similar but more extense in the future!
Really happy to hear that feeling of being lost while driving at night came through!
We do hope to add onto these character's stories in future games! We originally had a gas system set up but had to scrap it near the end cause it was getting waay out of scope lol. Once the jam period is over one of our goals is to rework that gas system for an Endless or Survival mode in an updated version.
Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed!! :>
really fun game, the atmosphere was however a bit damaged by the voice synthetiseur overlapping with the dialogues but the whole story was cool to follow
Happy to hear you enjoyed it!!
Any of the voices that aren't subtitled were meant to be a radio playing, I think when I come back to update it I want to include some sprites in front of the radio to show it's playing, and maybe lower the volume of the radio when Eddie talks so it's not confusing.
Thank you for playing and for your feedback!! :]
I love the aesthetic of this game!! It's one of the most distinct horror experiences I've ever played and the atmosphere is really tense. The bits of dialogue that play in the background while you're driving reminds me of Radiohead's Fitter Happier where it sets an eerie and solemn mood with just a voice synthesizer saying random lines, I love the vibe of it a lot!!
Thank you, we're happy to hear you had fun with it!! :]
Now that you mention it, the voice synthesizer does remind me of that song....BRB gotta relisten to OK Computer again lol.
This was such a cool entry. Loved the voice synthesizer, really suited the atmosphere. And pretty cool graphics too!
It was a last minute decision to add the voice synthesizer lines but I'm really glad we stuck with it! Thank you so much, we're happy you enjoyed it!! :D
Oh I loved it ! The sound design is so weird and cool, it build up perfectly with how unnerving the story progress. Really nice mixing of 2D and 3D graphics too !
Thank you!! Really glad to hear you enjoyed it! Had worried the mix of 2D and 3D would be jarring so I'm really happy to hear it blended well! :]
I REALLY loved this! The sound design and the visuals are just perfect, it really appeals to me.
Thanks for playing, we're happy to hear you enjoyed it!! :D
Really enjoyed the idea of the long drive and encountering the horros of the deep, that final part was really creepy! Not going to ruin it for the ones that haven't tried it but really enjoyed where it all led! Great stuff and great models!
Thanks for playing, really happy to hear you enjoyed it! I was so nervous the ending would break, just cause we put it together last minute but its nice to hear it paid off! :]
That was really cool, I like the feeling of progression as more story gets revealed - by the end it had that feeling that something is very wrong. The graphics have that aesthetic beauty to the drawings as well.
Glad to hear that feeling of something being off came across. It was fun trying to get the 2D and 3D art to come together so I'm happy to hear it came together in the end. Thanks for playing!! :>
