I've never played Pokemon, but now I've conquered the Mushroom Kingdom! Very nice work!

This game was absolutely fantastic! I really enjoyed my time playing.

Amazing exploration game! I loved the art style and the charisma of this game :D

I tend to inject some of my weird humor into my games.  Perhaps next time, I'll make a more serious game.  Thank you for playing!

As a completionist, I felt happy that finding all mushrooms was achievable.

As a Linux user, I felt happy I could just run the Windows executable with WINE. Some game studios do their Linux ports this way :D

Developer

Oh, cool! I didn't realize the love2d Windows executable is compatible with WINE.  I am glad that it worked out well!

I was worried that the game would become too challenging and frustrating, so I intentionally tried to make the game easy.  I hope that didn't take all the fun away!  Thank you for playing :)

So nice, I’ve enjoyed overall Mario/Pokemon atmosphere, and found all of the mushrooms, even though I’m not a big fan of platformers usually :) The backtracking was also unobtrusive, and the clues pretty clear.

Thank you!  This was my first try making a playable platformer.  I couldn't make the platforming as satisfying as I wanted because it'd take significantly longer for me to implement all the details.  Overall, this was a nice and semi-successful experiment :)

Loved this game! Nice use of a minimal color palette. I had fun collecting all the mushrooms and taking the leap of faith to collect one of them.

Thank you!

Would have loved to have more mushrooms to hunt. Well done!

Nice minimalist platformer! Each mushroom has an interesting story, and the soundtrack matches the art perfectly :)

Great use of a minimal palette! Really set the mood nicely.

Developer

Thank you!  The palette is https://lospec.com/palette-list/tangerine-noir.  I wanted a minimal palette to keep the scope small so that I could finish the game in time.  Really glad the art style worked out well with the palette.

FYI I hosted my source here: https://github.com/dawranliou/shelter-creek in case it isn't obvious on the game page.

Nicely done, that really feels like a game, I just wish there were more levels!

Developer

Thank you!  I cut a lot of scopes to meet the deadline.  There were initially 5 more mushrooms and 4 more maps.  I quickly realized that I couldn't finish them all in time at my skill level.   I was really glad to make a smaller but complete game.

Linux users, sorry, but I couldn't get the AppImage executable working. Please install https://love2d.org/ on your system and run

Can attest it works like a charm on Linux

Worked great, thank you! Love2d is in the Fedora repos under love, so I just installed that and the game plays.

Developer

You are welcome!  Thanks for confirming!
