How does your game bring our theme, OUT OF TIME, to life?
We interpret the theme as building up pressure over time. Forcing the player to make decisions. Under the theme description, we really like the double edge sword idea.

So we thought of an internal resource that helps the player to move across and also kills the player. So the fart mechanic was created.

What did you do to ensure accessibility of the game?
We made the control easy to understand and made it for all ages. We referenced classic side scroller games like Mario and Little Nightmares.

Baked beans are not that bad, come on! Jokes aside, this is a really fun game. I liked the general hilarious tone of the game. It's also cool to see so much concept arts and it's such a shame seeing them not implemented in the game. It would have been really great. Overall, the game is well-made with loads of nice ideas. Hope to see more of it!

Other things I like:

  • Good-looking and stylised models
  • Cool sound and music
  • Some difficulty towards the end of the game, but not by much
  • Funny ending sequence

Suggestions:

  • The charting farts seems both too fast when platforming, but felt really slow as well when you are waiting for it to charge up. I would suggest some kind of sigmoid charging curve instead of a linear one, which should reduce both fustrating feels
  • Gravity felt weird for small objects like a frog. Consider rebalancing it
  • Please move the frog a bit at the beginning of the game, where it currently sits in the bean can. This confuses me, and possibly a lot of players, about what to do to start the game

Anyway, this is an unexpectedly interesting game. Good job making it! Well done!

Yeah the jumping/farting meter could be tweaked to actually feel like there is pressure built up.

I originally thought of holding space for charging via small, medium, and large jump. Very much like Jump King. To actually feel the force and pressure.

Then over time our programmer just decides to do a hold and release mechanic instead.

Due to workload so we didnt have much time to playtest. I was very focus on getting all the 3D environments layouts and just pushing for a “working core game”. 🤣🤣

Did you meant where the frog was spawned in the beginning? I place him in the empty bean can for environmental storytelling. Visually the frog exit out of the can means he finished the beans.

Couldve add a burp sound when the game start and stomach rumble to imply frog has stomach ache 😭 Missed a very big game clarity here*

Also the frog inside the can as a spawn. Is pretty modular. We can drop him anywhere like in a magma filled volcano to icey tundra (not frog’s habitat and journey to pond). He just exist out of the can.

“Out of Place” going with the theme “Medieval Knight in Cyber City” Is another part of the concept but I figured that would be too much assets. 2 sets of 3D environment theme from scratch 😭 hell nah

Absolutely love the aesthetic of a cute and funky lil frog and the forest environment! Super cute and a fun lil premise. The game was also very comprehensible, so it's easy to pick up and play. I have seen that you've had things you wanted to implement but ran out of time before you could, so I really hope you get to do that in the future, if you plan to expand the game! :D

10/10 Love the art style!

One issue that I had was you can exploit the game by spamming the space button so you can skip most of the map.

yeah you can fly xDDD if you tap space. Just realized this after the game was summitted. My friend spend ran it under 1 minute!! ;-;

oh yeah the frog took a poo poo at a volcano and the gas built up and exploded.

The frog was supposed to go to space like in Getting Over It. So he flies through space like a rocket because the fire ignited the fart. While flying we can see the clouds, moon, the ISS, and maybe you dodge asteroids? xD

I pooped!  haha, funny little adventure.  I made it to the target.  I also was able to hop up and off and over the volcano I think.  But of course that wasn't the preferred route.

Yeah we Should’ve programmed the hitbox to be inside the outhouse. When player reaches outside of map boundary and touches the cut scene. The game freezes for like 2 seconds to do the animation. But since you’re not inside it feels like a bug and glitch.

Also apparently the player can fly by tapping [space] instead of holding it LMAO. In the next iteration when player reaches out of bounds it should teleports the player to nearest route to guide them.

Haha I loved the idea and the artstyle, it was so unique! I dont know of it was just me, but when I played the game it wasnt loading properly, a lot of things were white and I couldnt see the background/foreground :/

Would love to see more of this though!
