How did you incorporate the theme and lore?
the game breaks the normal camera system (and in another way you can find out) and the lore is used in the story but a bit modified also check the please check the (link in the) description after you finish playing it is not what it seems and no one is doing what the game says at the end i also replied to a comment highlighting things which you look closer at or if no one listens to that just go here https://kwat.itch.io/ the other parts to the story are hidden there

Hey cool game, certainly some interesting camera mechanics I hadn't seen before, and I think you pulled it off well.

Hey there! I streamed your game and reviewed it before the rating period ended. I enjoyed your game and I hope you had a fun experience!

Developer(+1)

Thanks For playing! wish you checked the other games out tho (i made all four for the jam and they added to lore)

No worries, I gave a full 5 star for the them/lore category, because I could see what you were going for.  But what I played was fun and clever. I really liked the idea of picking up the camera. Such a unique idea!

Developer(+1)

thanks! ( i might make it into a full game)

Good luck on the endeavor!

Great idea. Took a while to understand what to do. Naturally I like the minimalistic graphics style :)

Clever mechanic! I liked it!

Good game!

I dont really get it what am I suppose to do I couldnt even move for some time and camera doesnt wanna follow

Developer (1 edit)

the camera follows the camera you hold and you can switch to a gunwith right click but then you drop the camera and it wont follow any more (that is the point of the game) and for the moving idk what is happening sorry about this tho :(

So I definitely have to give you props on creativity. Having to play between 4 different games was really interesting. Overall between the three I thought the artstyle was really stylish and cool, and the sound effects were fitting. I guess  I'll   talk about all 4 individually now.

Kamra   Kat: This was a really fun idea  having to swap between the gun and the camera. My only critique is  the controls were a little too slippery so I never felt like I was in super great control of the cat.   Also the magnitude of that screenshake and it happening every time you fire was a little much.   towards the end of the game I was actually getting a bit nauseous.

3 sec kat:  This one was definitely the most frustrating out of the bunch. The slippery controls really made the precise platforming really challenging and having no coyote time on the jumps made it overall pretty  tough in a not so fun way.

Hidden  Kat:   This one was actually a little too easy since all you had to do was hover over the cat to find it. Sometimes you could beat the level by just wiggling the mouse over the screen. Overall though, pretty simple well executed idea.

kat go splat: this one was totally fine. The slippery movement didn't bother me much since you're mostly going in one direction, and I thought the level layouts were pretty clever. Well done!

Overall, I think this was a cool idea, but I wish the lore and gameplay was a little more intertwined.    Like I get that each game was an abstraction of the lore that went with it, but they didn't really add to that. And really after playing kamra kat you could just read the descriptions of the other and get pretty much the same experience.  At the very least maybe it would have been a good idea to put the lore at the end of the game as a reward for beating it. Then you could get that ah-ha moment where you realized how the game you just played related to the story.  But in the end, congrats for going this really ambitious route!

Developer

Thanks so much! Btw i am going to make the games have the lore in the actual end of the game  after the jam ends

Interesting mechanic, I wish it was explained a little better, since at first I would just die not understanding what's going on. Also the camera being zoomed in and the enemies going fast, sometimes you just don't have time to react to a new enemy, drop the thing and shoot the enemy, so maybe a little more feedback on enemy agro would be nice.

That being said: cool idea, definitely different and original.

I'm not fluent in uwu speak but I think I understood enough lol, it'd be nice if the instructions were in the game itself. The idea is original and simple, which is good, and idk if the implementation of the theme is really clever, or a bit of a stretch. I didn't see much of the lore tho

Developer

who wrote the discription (Kat - itch.io) also morse code

Game Is Fun, Art Is Good. Theme Used Well With Your New Camera System. The Only Problem I Had Was It Took A Bit To Understand The Controls. Maybe Next Time, Add The Instructions Into The Game, Not The Description.

btw just in case you did not find the lore check the first link in the description and the morse code in all the descriptions

I really like the idea and it was a lot of fun. The theme was kind of a stretch though.

it makes more sense if look closer into these

Fun game. Switching back and forth between camera and gun is pretty interesting. Once you get used to the mechanic it becomes easier to dispatch enemies. But overall I like the mechanic and would be interested in seeing the mechanic pushed further.

controls are unnecessarily complicated & graphics extremely stale. I guess for an early 1900s style game, it's not terrible.

Pretty simple once I understood how to grab the camera. One thing was that it was hard to recognize when you switched levels to a new place, so a transition would have been nice. Other than that, very fun and a very cute kat indeed!

It is really fun to play.

Nice job! Took me a second to figure out how to play but once I did, I was blasting my way through. Had a fun time.

Fun! The Kamra mechanic is pretty cool and the sprites are cute.

The hidden lore was nice as fun to find.

I liked the concept of this! Awlso had a lot of fwun playing it. :) Pewhaps the level twansitions was a bit two fast, bwut twat's just a wandom thought. The player health was perfect. I fweel a lot of jam-gwames are usually wery unfowgiving and can be fwustrating, but in this, you where allowed wone minor misstake, and that made all the diffewence. Good one!

PS. I did not undewstand the descwiptions relation two the gwame. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Developer

check thwe wink

also check these out to figure out why the description is link to the game

Mechanics are fun, I like the shaking screen too. Had some issues with my screen scrolling as I moved, not sure if intentional

Developer

thanks! but just asking did you check the description? because you might have missed a lot if you did not

Submitted(+1)

Took a look but hadn't make the connection to the scrolling. Gotcha :)
