Movie scene description (plus video link if possible!)
The game is inspired by Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone as well as The Stanley Parable and involves the player escaping Olivander's a seemingly normal wand shop through finding a multitude of power ups and abilities! Even though this is not based on and individual scene we decided to make a game about movies! But maybe about other movies too?!

Does your game or video link contain movie spoilers?

No (completely spoiler-free)

Lovely narration, great game! I included it in my Movie Game Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to check it out! :)

Jackpot! It was so interesting. The narrator was spot on perfect and there were lot of cool mechanics.

5 outa 5 on everything. Well deserved.

Fantastically snarky narrator and really meta gameplay! Really ambitious gameplay with jumping between multiple movies while juggling a metroidvania and dialogue. One minor quibble would be the narrator talking over himself sometimes. I wonder if I could jump on those floating objects near the end. One of my favorites from this game jam.

I gotta admit I was thrown off the whole time what movie this was supposed to be for (I downloaded these games in bulk haha) but I really enjoyed what it was! I had a little trouble with the platforming but that could just be me being awful. It was surprisingly long and consistently entertaining for a game jam game, and I really liked how the magic worked and wished there was a bit more to do with it. Overall one of my favorite games from the gamejam, so thanks a lot for it and please keep developing stuff. Cheerrrrssss 🍻

Hey there thanks for playing! (and hopefully leaving a rating) The movie(s) were supposed to be a transition from Harry Potter to Star Wars to Pirate of the Caribbean as the Narrator tries to get the Player to a proper film.  Figuring out that you can't when a player is the protagonist since the only difference between movies and games is choice. (Or at least that is what we were going for)

Just awesome, cant say anything else. Played it on stream, was having the time of my life!

Thank you again! The stream was very nice ;)

Hey guys,

Really good job bringing this project together in a short amount of time. I was running the game on a lower end computer and was having some lag issues. But bar that, I was having a good time being a wizard :) the voice acting was superb and the assets were really well done. Maybe add some more cues to solve puzzles, as I and other seem to have gotten lost.

Good game and keep up the good work, can't wait to see what you do in the future.

Thank you for you kind words!

Yes, we still have some problems with people getting stuck at certain places, because we didn't do enough playtests before submission. We learned from that for our next jam!

The voice acting is AAA level. well done. Kinda ended up stuck but I think I missed some critical parts in the beginning. I'll play the updated version soon. Thanks!

Thank you for your Feedback and for playing it on the stream!

I enjoyed it a lot. at a certain point I think I skipped some important dialog and got stuck for a few minutes but i found it very satisfying. I'm uploading the video tomorrow if you want to tell me what i missed

Haha so some players did do the sequence breaks ;) My time was not wasted after all! We had a line of dialogue with the narrator acknowledging this planned other than the one after collecting the double-jump, but I'm glad you enjoyed it would LOVE to see that video BTW (especially to see which of the four sequence-breaking paths you took) ANY feedback helps! (also ratings help so if you can it would be great to hear from you in that way on our movie game jam page if you have not already:

I am not the best at games but I did enjoy it a lot. if you have more games for me to play I will be more than glad to record them!

Very funny, wish the narrator acknowledged if you listen to his whole speech though. Your narrator, sounds very similar to Jessie Cox.

Haha glad you enjoyed it! Actually the Narrator DOES acknowledge you sitting through his speech HOWEVER I did not have time to finish all the subtitles for his speech just the audio. Thank you for playing and glad you enjoyed it!

yes he does, but once you move on he still shouts at you for not listening to him, that or I missed something. I did get that first bit at the intro though. and it was hilarious.

Correct we are working on an update and we’ll fix that. Thank You for noticing this!

Oh something that I kinda wished you guys had done, was if you tried to open the front door the narrator would say something, or atleast something of some flavor would have been done for that, as my first thought was "Nice speech narrator dude, I'm leaving now" and I went to the front door, and nothing, a little disappointing. but acceptable considering the constraints of a game jam.

Great idea! We’ll see if we can get the VA to do a bit more lines!

What a fantastic film based with a story driven  project. Really well put together  and I loved that narration.  Graphically, there are no complaints from me but if it helps, I've since played "Between Worlds" a couple of times.

I've just chuckled at myself as I remembered that when I entered the star wars area and narrator goes "Over In the Distance is a small village" and I said "I'm not going that way, I'll go were I like " lol

What Star Wars area? ;)

Wasn't the second area based on star wars? ** Gulp **

Yeah it was but I thought one of the best parts of the game was discovering that there were other areas from different universes . I’m just joking about  pretending they don’t exist .

Phew! *Wipes the sweat from my eye brows*

I love the sense of humour and the the game. :)

I really enjoyed the discovery elements and overall had a good time playing this. Well done!

But... It's a huge download... A little optimization would certainly help :)

Yup it would XD

I wish we got around to it sorry..., but Thank you for playing anyway! Any ratings always help!

oh... no worries :) File size is not a criteria for the jam :)

Tried out your game - I don't think it is that connected to HP, but it has very interesting gameplay which I did enjoy. I also liked the art choice and narrator was a perfect detail making the whole adventure much more enjoyable!

I liked it. I didn't manage to go through, in the desert area I got confused what I'm supposed to do (but then I blame my low skill in puzzles), but generally, I really enjoyed it.

(Angela de Frost)

Thank you for playing the game! I think you misunderstood something there. The Desert-Area isn't supposed to be related to Harry Potter. It's the universe of another film. Maybe you can guess what it is ;)

Desert area was where I just got too confused by puzzles. My comment about HP connection was general, not about desert area . Imo, there is connection but just loose, but its only my personal opinion).

Did you get to the third Universe? Or were you stuck it the pit in tantooine. In order to proceed you just needed to move an item to jump on over.

Well, I jumped over, but then in area with the little homes, I was a little confused what to do (then again, might be my lack of knowledge of the universe)

(1 edit)

Ah.. The Narrator said that the next destination was in the civilization. So in one of the two little homes. Thank you for responding!

Thank you for responding as well :) I might give it a second look if I find the time

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! (We are a tad desperate for players XD)
