I love so much about this game—the premise, the name! The wee character sprites! It's just that I'm incredibly bad at playing it. Made it into the cave mostly by rushing through any room with more than 2 enemies, and once in the cave Tony Miceroni became Tony Pinballeroni—hit one spike and you're rocketed around the room, you're done. I think I'd like to see the knockback lessened a smidge, but either way I'll revisit post-jam and give it another go.

Battles is too hard for me )

That moment in dungeon where spikes and shooting enemy -  not able to overcome it . Though loved stab animation )

The gameplay is quite punishing in terms of difficulty, very much in line for the graphical and audio fidelity which is close to the original NES Zelda. I couldn't get out of the forest due to the difficulty unfortunately :(

I think the dodge mechanic in particular needs a bit of tweaking. Given it has no invincibility frames, no cancelling, and no air control, it's currently too risky to use in most situations (at least in the forest area).

I think the forest area tiles stick out a bit in terms of graphics quality — the starting area and the other biome shown in screenshots are a better representation of your skills :)

Overall a coherent package, with classic(ally difficult) old school gameplay :) Great job!

You managed to squeeze in a lot, the cutscene at the start is very cute.

I made a similar game like yours :) i think it would be better if the dodge could be canceled, or if you became invincible while dodging. Another thought: after a little while it became tedious to go over and over the tutorial screens. I totally loved the story :D Overall a nice little zelda like game :)

It took me a second to realize I was actually hitting the enemies. I thought they were jumping back and trying to dodge.  Getting knocked back into the room you came from added a level of difficulty.  I beat it, the boss was fun. Great Job.

This was a fun little adventure! I especially enjoyed the music

As others have mentioned, the collisions/knockback took a bit to get used to, but overall the learning curve wasn't too bad. Because screen space was limited, a lot of rooms required using the environment to your advantage (i.e., hiding behind trees, skirting around corners, etc.), which I thought was interesting

Good stuff ✨

Really nice little game… You have to get used to the collisions and the fact that enemies respawn immediately but that gives it its own special character and difficulty - I really enjoyed it…

And I quite shocked by but enjoyed the final… twist :D

Awesome but I do not enjoy being a bumper car

is the guy taking the cheese after the cave the end?

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! There are multiple caves throughout the overworld, and completing them all transitions to the true ending.

Melee is always good to have, it's a bit hard because the shooting is tied to your position and line of sight, but it does get easier with time. Good game!

Very cute! I never did find the cheese cause' the stuff in the cave kept killing me, but very nice overall!
