This was a fun little entry. Love all the 3d assets, the wind particles, the movement. The little eldritch tentacles.

The locomotion was pretty good. The slopes for some reason felt a little weird to me though? Maybe I was just already going fast, but going up the slope didn't seem to really slow me down. The text was a little hard to read, and you have to get really close to notes in order to interact with them. I would make the area a bit larger and setup some interaction text to indicate you can interact with objects.

The juxtaposition with the audio to the environment was interesting especially running into the enemies. Overall I really liked this little game.

Fun little game!

With a different music theme and more dark ambience, this could easily pass as a horror game, as it already feels pretty “dark”. Though I like how sort of relaxing and chill the atmosphere is in this game as well.

The text on the notes are a little hard to read, as the text is small and the font type makes it thin and painful to look at for long. If there were more text in the game, I would definitely skip some notes due to how hard they were to read. An indication that you could interact with notes would also help, as I don’t know how close I have to be to interact with them.

The inputs to fix the radio tower are a little weird, as they use the same buttons as movement, thus on the first tower I fixed, I ended up pressing the wrong keys a few times trying to move, and got it inputted as part of the “fixing” input.

Sliding upwards on a slope seems a little weird, I like being able to move faster down one, but it feels weird that you are able to go up one pretty fast as well, while moving at normal speed on flat surfaces.

The monsters didn’t feel much of a threat, as they were easily avoidable. There was also barely any visual indications (only the battery at the top left from what I see), and no sound indications when you get damaged. The lack of explanation of what they were had me skiing right through them as some of them seem to lack collision as well. I did notice after some time that my battery was low, but my first assumption was about the light running out, rather than there being enemies. Upon dying in the game, it feels weird that I have to use my keyboard to return to menu instead of being able to click.

In the initial house you spawn in, if you face the note at the door, and go to the right of it beside the seat, you can enter the skiing animation at that corner of the room, making your player stuck.

Really liked this game! The vibes were great and I had a lot of fun just skiing around. My only critique is that I couldn't turn in directions very quickly or else the game would glitch. I don't know if this was just a me problem however. Overall really fun game!

Developer(+1)

i will look into it thanks

Has a very nice winter vibe going on, with music and lighting.
I wish that traps (tentacles and eyes) would pose more threat.

very cool game in all aspects!!! <3

first impressions:
itch page is cool i like it
in the main menu, the textures and fonts look kinda blurry, the camera movement in the main menu also feels weird

for some reason when hovering on buttons in the pause menu the last letter just.. disappears?

also if you're not fullscreen (or i assume just not 16:9) the background on the pause menu has a gap on the side

the resume button is typically on the top and not the bottom too

gameplay:

sliding is fun :D

powering the radio towers felt a bit weird because the first few inputs didn't get recognized or there wasn't really an indication (like an animation or something) that you were stunned and couldn't move

an interact prompt would be nice because it's not obvious what you could interact with
the radio tower ui in the top right corner is really hard to see, it needs an outline or a panel behind it

the monsters felt like they weren't much of a threat, as they didn't actively attack you and the only way to get hurt was to ram directly into them

audio and visuals are nice

I really like the concept of the game! Being forced to go out into the snowy night trying to fix radio towers makes a nice setting for a great horror game. The environment is nicely built and looks nice, the ambient sounds also fit really well with the scene. I am also surprised that the skiing speed boost feels so nice, it's just a shame that the scene doesn't really allow chaining that into a single continuous ride, and the upslopes sort of kill the momentum a bit. It might make a good speedrun game if the skiing is much more prominent! But I digress.

The gameplay is a bit on the easy side, not to say I am not enjoying it all the way through, but I wish fixing radio towers weren't just a glorified button press. Any small puzzles would work nicely. I would also say the enemies in the game don't do much, but it might be me just playing the game too tryhardy though.

Anyway despite what I've just said, this is actually quite a good game! Good job!

Nice game! I like the ps1 vibe style and also the music a lot. I think you could improve the gameplay feels a lot, for instance right now if you go at high speed and takes a slide from bottom to top, you will keep a high amount of speed, it doesn't feel very natural

Right off the bat, I love the menu music! I waited for a while before playing just so I could hear it longer. The in-game music is also really nice. The graphics are also amazing, along with the skiing physics! I think most of the issues have already been covered by redline, such as the blurry UI, the tower icon on the top right being almost invisible, the tentacles not posing any threat etc. Gameplay wise, this game was really fun to play, but I think it would be more fun if there were more dangers on the mountain. Also, I love the way you guys did the end credits! Great job with your submission!

Developer(+1)

thank you so much, i kinda in the end made the game too easy XD

Jam Judge(+2)

Before anyone freaks out: no I'M NOT A JUDGE, I just rate and give feedback to everyone's games.
My rating has the same weight as anyone else's!

Welp here are my notes...

Itch marketing:

- Cover art is nice, although I think you should put a logo on it to make it feel complete

- I would like to see some static screenshots, not just gifs that show the game off from a different perspective, but I won't complain about animated gifs

- Web build++

- The pitch is okay. I would add the theming (dark, atmospheric) to it but it's nice.

- It's nice to list the controls on the page, although I think it's better to only put them in the game if they aren't too complicated.

- The page background is a nice touch and it doesn't distract from the rest of the page.

- You could once again, add a logo to the top of the page to complete the drip

Alright time to play the game

- Fullscreen works.. yay!

- What on earth is this sound slider... did you make it go from 0-100?

- The UI is blurry af but I think you already know that... Also the stretched settings panel is weird

- Why's everything so blurry in fullscreen?

- You have the high refresh rate issue where the camera slightly stutters while moving. It's not a huge issue, but it's definitely noticable at high speeds.

- Looking at a note should lock the screen and show mouse. A lot of people like to follow the text they're reading with the cursor.

Sound design:

- Big yes

- I would turn down/lowpass the wind ambience while indoors

The tutorial:

- You don't need to hold the player's hand this hard. These puzzles are really not that hard and you could easily get away with not telling the player how to solve them. In fact, I think it would feel better to players to solve them on their own, even though it's very simple. Finding ways to reward the player for doing something is what turns a good game into a great game!

- The notes feel like the developers trying to explain the game and not a story element whose goal is to help immersion. Try to come up with some second character for your next project if you're going to do stuff like this! Even if they never show up, it creates some mystery that these sort of adventure games really need.

- I would move the notes to head height because I often jumped up to them and started floating while reading. Kind of a minor thing, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

UI:

- I didn't notice the tower icons in the top right until I fixed the third one. The contrast is awful pls change

- Battery indicator so far hasn't done anything, so I'm wondering why it's even shown in the first place

The GAMEPLAY:

- I like the skiing. I think it feels nice even though the player has clearly limited movement (as in, they can't accelerate infinitely).

- The monster tentacles are completely useless and I have never interacted with them. They look cool I suppose? but I'm not sure what gameplay purpose they have, and if they have something, they do a poor job of it. They are easily visible, so they aren't really an obstacle, it's not really an attacking enemy either since it doesn't really move around, so I'm somewhat confused about them.

How can you improve this?

- Make the player backtrack to their house instead of just taking an elevator. This would make the player need to dodge the tentacles (if they even do anything in the first place) and would probably increase playtime.

- You can add weather events, like a short snowstorm where you need to hide in some small wooden houses to survive. I think it would fit the vibe of the game, especially if you combine it with backtracking.

- Make the flashlight battery do something

- Maybe some hills as decorations outside of the "track"

So all in all, it's definitely a "short adventure game about activating all of the radio towers to restore the TV". It's nice, it's decent and other than the blurriness, the visuals are nice.

... i dont have anything to say XD thank you so much for all this feedback! it really helped me thanks you!

nice game XD

I like the ski part XD

fixing the tower a bit glitchy when you approach it from weird angle

and, is there a command to cancel the fixing process? sometimes I approach it weirdly and can't see anything X"D

I'm a bit confused and lost the first time because there's branching path on the map and didn't realize it

but I completed the game the second time XD

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much, I forgot to put it in game that you can press E to exist the fixing process, thank you for your feedback

I enjoyed the skiing physics, sliding down slopes when you stop moving is a nice detail! The ambient and music vibe fit nicely and create a cool ambience. I did struggle a bit to understand what the battery means. Initially, I thought it was a sort of timer for the descent before the torch battery runs out.

Developer(+2)

thank you for the feedback!

Overall a pretty great entry! I really like the vibe.

Visuals:

The low poly models look great and overall the game is really well done in terms of visuals.

Audio:

The music and sound effects fit the game very well and set the environment perfectly.

Gameplay:

I did get stuck once when i backed away from the tower when it was opening, the skiing mechanics were fun but i wish there was more challenge to the game.

Overall:

Amazing game and theme interpretation is good. Good job!

I really like the ambience in the game, very chill wintery vibe with music to match!

I love the physics when you are able to chain jumps together.

Charge bar was a bit confusing, I thought it was a time constraint at first.

I did like collecting all the eyeballs & tentacles with the happy lil' chime with them :D

Thanks for joining the jam :D

oops I think I didnt connect one tower because i did die even though the nice note warned me aaaa I wonder what happened to the weird tentacle monster
