Visuals:

I enjoyed doing the electric slide everywhere - fantastic stuff haha. The visuals were really well done and my only nitpick would be there's no visual indicators for things that you can interact with (the guy and the chair at the start)

Story:

it might be a language thing but I found it a bit hard to understand what was going on with the story. I feel like different profile pics during the conversations to help convey the mood a bit better which would help point the story into a more solid direction.

Audio:

Audio is such a critical part of game, and definitely helps be able to convey mood and feeling - since this was missing it was missing the game felt like it was missing something.

Game play:

pretty cool and unique overall - my feedback would be the controls feel 'too' stiff and the player is too fast. more often then not I flew into danger because my character was just too fast. for the 'stiff' part there needs to be an ever so slight deceleration when a movement key is released and it will stop feeling so rigid then.

There were also a fair few jumps that required coyote time to do because your head was touching the ceiling that just felt not really needed, with already the struggle of the fast controls it just felt it was difficult for no real reason.

Overall:

+1 points for built in tutorial! I enjoyed the game. the Idea was unique and I would like to see what further puzzles you would do. The game does need a fair polish to it but overall I enjoyed

Loved the implied story/theme implementation. Too sad if it's too short.
Liked the main mechanics, would loved it if it'd be possible to reassign controls.

Would love to see more content!

My favourite part is definitely the death transition. 😋
Level design was pretty good as well and I appreciate the top path in that long level, so you can see the map before you enter.

No sounds 😔

Colors were a little bit off everywhere, like everything felt a bit muddy? Not really sure why...

But I really enjoyed the puzzles, just needs a bit more work to finish it up and it's going to be awesome!

i liked it, but i have some critiques:

first and foremost, it needs sound. without sound effects it just isn't as immersive as it could be

also, the player needs a walk cycle, it looks really weird when the player is just sliding around in the idle animation

during the bossfight, the screenshake was way too much with no option to turn it down and the shockwave attack happened too often so it felt unfair

as for the itch page, the background looks weird, it lacks screenshots and most of the styling just isn't changed

Nice job! The puzzle element is probably the biggest selling point here, and it doesn't disappoint. I remember seeing another puzzle game that uses a similar "projection" mechanic in the past, but I forget what the name of that game is. Anyway, the puzzles are cleverly designed and require a bit of thinking. It's a bit restrictive with how much the photo mechanic can do, but I guess with the current puzzles, it's more than enough. The graphic is also nice and charming, and there is a story too! Well done.

For some criticism, let's get the elephant in the room out of the way. Sound! You need sound to elevate the game, immerse the player! Without sound really hurts how the game feels. Another thing is that, using Z and C for photo manipulation, WASD for movement and E for interaction in my opinion is a terrible idea. Making everything controlled by a single hand is ultra hard and induces unnecessary difficulty. Holding Z for placing, while moving it to the left with A is almost impossible without some deliberate gesture. Given that you are not even using the mouse, please let our right hand do something instead. I will also say I am not a fan of the final combat. For me battle in a puzzle game should always centre around the puzzle mechanics. Your buzzsaw and box level is a good example for this (focusing on testing the player on how to use C smartly). But with the final boss, it turns into an action game without any use of the photo mechanics, and it felt quite out of place.

Anyway, with all that said, this is a game well done! Seeing you are going for a Steam release, I wish you the best of luck!

Developer

thanks for playing, you are right! I don't have reconfigurable controls so I should made the mouse an option if the player want to use WASD!, I make the game using arrows and put WASD in case some players don't have arrows I their keyboards, thanks for the feedback!

The art is amazing! Great job on it I love the little intro to the game!

thanks!

Love this game. Very clever mechanic and a lovely sad story. Art is cute and the parallax clouds are neat. I had a little problem figuring out the distance on the picture taking mechanic for the mirrors portion but that's not a super big deal. Sad no audio :(

Died 44 times. I liked the particle fx on the boss part.

Developer

thanks for playing!, some people died 83 times and others 2, so a good dead counter xd (I will try to adjust the distance of the placing picture)

I love the picture taking mechanic! Artstyle is also great.

Sadly theres no sounds :(

Bossfight at the end was a bit hard but managed. xd

Goodluck continuing work on the project, as you told in vc you are going towards a steam release! :D

Developer

thanks!, I will limplement sound and make the boss less unfair!

Nice game! I died 19 times. Cloud visuals look really nice. I think that if you want to expand on the game, you should keep going on the puzzle side mechanics more than on the platform/timing side of it. I encountered some small bugs related to the 2d physics (like boxes at high speed just when I placed them)

Developer (1 edit)

you can even shoot boxes in some cases!!, I hopefully will fix this in the next update (or maybe godot 4.5 would fix that), thanks for playing!

Good concept and mechanics, especially the mirror one. The game still lacks some parts and a bit of polish but is a solid entry.

Developer

cool words!, I will polish the game and add some new mechanics!

The mechanics were really unique and fun to use! The particles and animations for the pictures and the pawn breaking the ground were also really good and satisfying. I like the direction you took with incorporating the theme. I can find it easy to relate to. My biggest gripe is the lack of audio/SFX. Having sound effects for the ground breaking, along with movement, would add a lot to this game. I also feel like the lack of SFX makes the boss a bit harder, as it gives no feedback on what state it's currently in. Having SFX for when it hits the ground, when it's in the air, and when terrain is being pushed out of the ground, would enhance the experience of fighting it. I also have to mention that it's not stated in the game that you can move the pictures around before placing them. I didn't know it was possible to choose where you place them until the room with the mirror. Apart from that, the graphics and animations are nice, although the game is lacking a run animation. Great job with your entry!

yes, sound will be implemented in the next update and animations, thanks for playing!

nice game ^^

I completed the game with 35 times dying X"D

the boss battle is really good concept but ends too soon I guess?

z and c as control with wasd is hard to press :"

Developer(+1)

yes, I intended the game to play with arrows but I put wasd cuz I know there are some keyboards with out the arrows, but I should made the mouse do something, so people with wasd don't need to make weird hand gestures, thanks for playing!
