Theme interpretation
We make the game with the concept of poor signal and poor bond in mind.

In poor signal, the player trying to send signal (calling) to the cats that can be received in certain distance within the cat's radius. But the cat might not reply to that calling.

In poor bond, we explore it in bond story about cats and the owner. Where both of them can't communicate properly but attached to each other.

This game is also text less for accessibility reason, so players with any language can play the game. (This can also be an extension exploration of poor communication where the narrator of the game and the player that are playing it and trying to understand the story (refers to the theme of the game jam)

The art is amazing the mix between 3d and hand draw style is amazing

i wish you would have a run button or like a faster walk cuz it felt really slow to me.

other then that its really good :)

Got this ending, no idea how)

Loved the hand-drawn-ish art style. The gameplay itself was confusing to me, so I just pinged them kitties into oblivion until game decided enough is enough)

Developer

Yeah it is a bit hard to understand now X"D

Thanks for the playing the game and thanks for the input XD

This was really cute. Love the 2.5d style. Great job pivoting between engines mid jam. Not easy! It took me a while to figure out how to complete the story. But finding all the different cats was cute if not a little scary. The audio was super cute and liked the music. Art fantastic.

Really cute game, almost has a paper mario vibe to it!

Managed to hunt down all the cats & put them infront of the bowl.

Sadly the final cutscene stopped playing near the end. :(

Hope you guys enjoyed the jam & my feedback in vc was of any help!<3

Really cute art and story! I think it would be beneficial to explain to the player what the objective is. I understand the reason behind going textless, but doing so makes it hard to convey what the player has to do. Also, when the player goes behind the house, it would be good to make the house translucent so that you can still see them. I also really like the music. It's very soothing to listen to. I like the sfx too, but I feel like the one that plays when you press spacebar is a bit loud. It would be nice to have some volume sliders. Good job with your submission!

Thanks for playing the game ^^

yeah translucent would be good XD

I will need to see how to do that ^^

and yeah I agree with text less, need to rethink about that

and I will think about the volume for space bar sfx too ^^

Thanks for the input ^^

This reminds me of my cat, who doesn't really respond to my calls. Ah memories. The art is cute, I like the 2d sprite on 3d world style and it always makes me want to do that once. The speed of the cats running away is such accurate that it gave me some flashbacks. The story you are going for is nice, and it's quite an interesting take on the theme. The game does have that cosy charm in it, and it feels nice playing. Thanks to the comment below, I am able to figure out what I need to do to win the game, and it took me quite a while to actually execute that. Probably caught all of the cats before the correct one though.

For a little criticism, I'd say lacking any instructions text hurts the game a bit, as the gameplay loop and goal is not well established in the game. Till the very end I still don't know what the food bowl does, and I eventually gave up on it entirely. It would also be nice if there were some indicators on how catching a cat works, it felt like random if you can catch it or not. It would also be nice if each cat had different behaviour, but given the development hell you are in (changing engine is such a big deal, hope you don't lose too much in doing so), I say you've done a nice job already in making this game.

I enjoyed the game quite a bit! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for playing the game XD

yeah, going text less entirely definitely hurt the game.

Especially explaining to the player what to do or how to do it.

and lack of visual feedback here and there (like there's actually no catching the cat mechanic, just chase the cat several times) makes the game confusing too. Maybe adding the catching and cat struggling to escape would be nice addition.

cat with different behavior I think will be cute XD

The food bowl are supposed to tempt the cat to reply more, but ran out of ideas on how to add the visual cue without revealing the hiding spot.

Thanks for the input ^^

I like the usage of 2d assets in a 3d map with a child-like drawing style. I'm sorry to say this, but I could not figure out what I have to do in the game. I picked up a bunch of cats and the food bowl. The orange one probably decided to bug out, and I could not drop it.

Developer(+2)

thanks for playing the game XD

yeah sometimes that happened. It's a feature that was added on the last day X"D

The main goal of the game is to find the character's cat. (The one that was on the cut scene)

It's hard to explain the story or the goals text less  X"D

Oh ok, I'll try out the game again and see if I can collect the correct one (or maybe collect and bug all of them)
