This reminds me of my cat, who doesn't really respond to my calls. Ah memories. The art is cute, I like the 2d sprite on 3d world style and it always makes me want to do that once. The speed of the cats running away is such accurate that it gave me some flashbacks. The story you are going for is nice, and it's quite an interesting take on the theme. The game does have that cosy charm in it, and it feels nice playing. Thanks to the comment below, I am able to figure out what I need to do to win the game, and it took me quite a while to actually execute that. Probably caught all of the cats before the correct one though.
For a little criticism, I'd say lacking any instructions text hurts the game a bit, as the gameplay loop and goal is not well established in the game. Till the very end I still don't know what the food bowl does, and I eventually gave up on it entirely. It would also be nice if there were some indicators on how catching a cat works, it felt like random if you can catch it or not. It would also be nice if each cat had different behaviour, but given the development hell you are in (changing engine is such a big deal, hope you don't lose too much in doing so), I say you've done a nice job already in making this game.
I enjoyed the game quite a bit! Keep up the good work!
