Theme interpretation
I incorporated the theme 'A poor connection' by showcasing the lack of connection between Leon and people in his life, along with his troublesome connection to alcohol and drugs.

Players Notice
This game contains alcohol, illicit drugs, substance abuse, flickering, flashing colors, themes of loneliness, depression, and suicide.

Development Software
Godot

Accessibility
I made sure the game will be accessible to people by keeping the mechanics simple, and making the platforming straightforward.

woof. got dark quick! The platforming felt good. The eerie music. Think my gripe with the audio would be the footsteps as some people have mentioned. Overall a good story and I liked the art work.

Loved to see something moar dark too, even though some of it was implemented in a lighthearted way.
Platforming was solid - buffered jump, coyote - all there.
My only criticism would be about dialogue boxes - would like to have a button prompt before it going to next line, cuz sometimes it be going too fast.

I dont often see darker games in jams, nice that you made sure to put warnings everywhere!

I liked that the game got harder as Leon got more & more intoxicated,..

Just a bit sad Leon didnt make it back home, hope hes okay.. <3

This is quite a short and sweet game! A nice story with a darker tone is always appreciated. So, no to drugs is probably the moral of the story. I got confused about what happened there. I guess the MC committed suicide? Can't really tell (it's probably because I can't tell what the thing shown in the end is). Though I am not complaining too much about open-ended stories. The graphic is great, audio is nice and fitting. The platforming part is a bit short, but for a game like this, it's perfectly fine. Inverted controls after taking magic mushrooms is quite a nice idea. I wish the whole game was about some wacky platforming though. Why not all-in on this drug reference :)

For a minor criticism, I'd say the walking sound effect seems a bit off timing-wise. It just feels weird hearing the sound without the character moving. The game is also a bit short, and I wish it lasted a bit longer. But other than that, I can't really point my finger at what's wrong with the game. Well done!

Thanks for the detailed review! I wanted to subtly hint suicide at the end, but not show it. The sprite at the end was the same as the tequila in the beginning of the game, but due to it's small size, it's easy to not realize what it is. I also agree with you on the platforming being too short. I wanted to focus on learning cutscenes and music for this game, so I had to keep the platforming short to get everything I wanted to done.

I'm glad you liked the audio and effects! I can see how more gameplay mechanics would enhance the experience, but I couldn't really think of other mechanics that would make sense at the time. I will try to think of other gimmicks that I could use later on! I have also experienced that issue with the step sound effect. I will try to fix that issue. Thanks for playing!

cool game design!

Solid submission, I did enjoy the short story and all the visual effects of the different drugs you put in the game. The inverted commands for mushrooms were interesting. I'd have loved to have unique mechanics for each drug besides the visual effect. The sounds and art are nice and fit well together, except the step sfx, which play only based on the input and not the actual movement.

Thanks for playing! I couldn't come up with more mechanics, but it does  sound like a good idea. I've also realized the issue with the step sound effect, so thanks for bringing it up!

The game was really great, i loved that you added the warning at the start! the visuals are amazing

and the music is really REALLY good!

The quit button at the start is useless on web

The text was a bit too fast, i wish that i could choose when to continue and not for

the game to do it for you

Also the music at the start looped a bit strangely....

The step effect also played whenever i was done walking so it felt abit not connected with the stepping its self (if you didnt understand something please tell me)

and the StepSFX will also play when ever there was a cutscene and you cant control the movement of the player

Overall its a great game just misses some polishing

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the game! I agree with all your points. I originally made the text continue by itself, and later on had the idea of letting the player decide when to skip through, but I didn't know if that would have messed with how I already had it set up. Some of the music exports from FL Studio don't loop fluidly for some reason, and I'm not really sure why. I understand what you're saying with the step sound effect and the SFX playing during cutscenes. I did try to stop that from happening, but couldn't fix the problem in time. Thanks for your feedback!
