Nice graphics, music, theme and concept. I had a hard time figuring out what items did what, and was basically picking them based on looks. Is there a strategy to knowing what items to select for the next combat? Also my success rate went to 190%…

Overall, it feels like it has a lot of potential!

Cool concept! I had an item disappear every time I wanted to pick it up (golden cross), but other than that my only complaint is that it needs more. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing our game :D, yeah I am aware that there is an issue with the cross necklace. I will def upload a fixed version later

nice game.

First off, the music is so bombastic and silly. A perfect backing track for the mad dash to pick up loot before it disappears forever.

I will say it is a bit too easy though. By the second room, my success percentage never dipped below 190 and I didn't have to alter my equipment anymore. However, even though my chances weren't in jeopardy I still liked to customize the slotted equipment and see what new designs I could scrounge. There's definitely a solid core to this game with the loot organization and outfitting aspects. Well done!

Developer

Glad to hear you liked the music!

Yeah, our programmer and artist designed some wonderful systems for the game we didn't quite have the time to implement, but I'm happy that you still enjoyed the customization!

Fun game! I feel like it still needs a little bit more balancing, after the second round, I got the hero's chance of success to 160% and in levels after that it didn't change at all so there didn't seem to be any point in swapping any of his items.

All in all though, your game was a great idea and it fit the theme very well! Great job!

Very fun! :D I really like the concept and the graphic design is very good too. I wasn't always sure which items were better than others, but picking them up and fitting them in the bag was a fun challenge. The time limit seemed like quite a long time,  and by the second level I was just waiting for the time to run out so the spoiled hero would let me dress him like a big boy. I really liked the sound effects and the experience of waiting outside the room while heroic music plays and the hero goes "ha HAAA!" while he fights enemies in there made me laugh :D

Really great submission though! Congrats 😁

Decent game, I think it really hits the theme of the jam!

Music seems to be very loud comparing to the SFX and it seemed that I just grab stuff randomly instead of choosing it for specific type of battle ahead (check bag of holding from same jam if you need inspiration for such thing). Also would be nice to add ability to end gathering phase before timer ends if I think I have enough stuff.

Also art is pretty good.

Developer(+1)

Hey, thanks for playing our game. We definitely had stuff like letting the player know what's ahead in mind, but due to time constraints we couldn't implement some these planned mechanics.

yeah it happens

I enjoyed that! Beautiful graphics, great audio. A really nice spin on the theme too - made me chuckle.

Submitted(+1)

Great idea. The game was a bit too easy I think, just had lots of powerful items laying around haha.

This is a really cool concept, well done! Love the graphics and the audio also. Would be nice if it was a bit more challenging though, I was flying through the levels without even changing the items!

Developer(+1)

Yes I know what you mean, there technically isnt a loss condition right now, which makes it play more like a proof of concept I suppose. Anyways, thanks for playing our game :D

I thinking my run was bugged due to never being able to improve my hero (stuck at 190% and changing for other equipment doesn't change this value) and the success rate never dropping. Judging by the comments it looks like you just haven't gotten around to it. Unfinished games are normal for jams, but I would appreciate it if the description is clear about what is implemented and what is planned.

That said, the concept is very well executed (for as far as it has)! I think it would definitely be a fun game if you had to work out what equipment to loot each round.

edit: and I love the knight "fighting" sounds, it adds so much character.

Submitted(+1)

Wow, this was actually very fun to play, very cute characters and items.

Submitted(+2)

Oh, this is cute! Some great personality on display with this game, especially with the music and sound design. The relationship between the characters is really fun, I hate the knight in a love-to-hate kind of way. I really enjoy the looting/backpack idea as well! The one thing I found myself sort of wishing was that the inventory could be managed with keyboard instead of mouse. I think the concept has a lot of potential though, and I would love to see what your team had in mind for the full scope!

Developer

Thanks for playing our game, Ill be sure to check yours out too :P I never really thought about keyboard controls for the bag but it does make a lot of sense, thanks for the suggestion!

The art is really beautiful and the music is a banger - I'm considering downloading the source code just to be able to listen to the one looting theme on loop. It's such a silly theme and I love it.

The game itself had a really cool idea and premise, but it is unfinished - The most tragic bug/missing feature is, that the hero does not loose his equipment after every run. (Well, and that you can not loose, but we'll keep that a secret). There's some other minor annoyances, like missing collision (on some pillars and the ground) or missing sprites (for the cross necklace in bagpack-mode). I like the idea to specifically have to prepare for specific monsters and you can already see a new type of monster being rolled each room in the developers console, so the start of that feature was done already as well.

I truly hope you finish this game after the ratings are done - the idea is just too good and what is already there shows great promise.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for trying out our game :D yeah we basically got to making all the levels only today s they are a little rushed. I as the programmer will def continue to work some things out for sure. There are also sprites for stuff like the warning signs but just no time to implement them :( . him not looisng his equipment isnt a bug, but its more like you need to find other items anyways since the threat keeps changing, keeping an ever evolving equipment for the hero, just like in RPG like games.

Submitted(+1)

Ah okay, fair enough about the hero not loosing his equip. That was just my immediate thought for a quick solution to make this an endless game, but needing to swap equipment based on the enemy is a better way to handle this if you have the time for such a system.

I enjoyed the premise of the game and found it funny. Having the items spawn randomly as well as spawning better items as you progress was a nice touch. The art was great and fit well with the music and overall tone of the game. The itch page has an awesome welcoming atmosphere. The music gave it a silly tone which I though worked well.

The inventory system was well made. It would have been nice to have an indicator on the item you are dragging when it is hovering over the correct item slot.

The description mentioned about choosing the right equipment for the next battle, but I was not sure how to tell. Rather I just went with the percentage. I don't know if I missed something, but some indication or clues in the map to better tell which monster is next would have added a more detective aspect to it.

At first it was fun to choose the items, but after a while it kept getting stale as there did not seem to be an incentive to find better equipment once you had over 100% success rate.

As for accessibility, there did not seem a way to map the controls or change the volume.

Overall, I enjoyed the silly premise and the overall tone of the game.

Developer

Hey, thanks for playing our game. we ran into a lot of time contraints as is normal with jams, so indeed stuff like the warning signs in the rooms were planned to add that puzzle feel to it, but we didnt have time to implement it sadly. I will probably keep updating this game as I think It shouldn't just stay as a fun premise, but be an actual fun game. :P
