Really lovely idea and maximum polish going on. Sounds and music and effects, it had it all. Everyone else has mentioned the restarting, i think just a 'go' button when you're ready will sort it.

Easy to learn and plenty of room for complexity with the double commands.

Developer

The idea for the update at the moment is to let players choose whether they want to pause the character or speed them up - allowing for both styles of problem solving. I'm happy you enjoyed it, thanks for playing!

i got it in 8:45 (but i'm getting sleepy, so that may have slowed me down a bit hehe). this is solid. i like the pixel-work, and nothing seems out of place or clashy. the music was well-chosen: nice and soothing to help me sink into the puzzle. there didn't seem to be any filler--every section was asking me to do something new, or putting new pieces together. i felt like every command got a good bit of use, and the combinations were balanced enough that i never really had a go-to combo.

i'll add my voice to those complaining about the player resetting whenever you put down a new block. it wasn't a huge deal, but it did get a little frustrating with some of the longer segments when i had to make adjustments, or when i was altering things later in the course and wished they could just run through the already-working parts while i did that. maybe you could detect the player's proximity to the block being changed, and only reset if they're within a certain number of blocks? not sure how feasible that is, but something along those lines would make it a little smoother in the endgame.

that's my only complaint though. this is a wonderful take on the theme and very well-implemented. those last few parts were super satisfying to solve. great work!

Developer(+1)

We're definitely looking into making how the player resets more streamlined. If we'd had more time to test we definitely would have caught how frustrating it can be! Thank you for playing, I'm happy you enjoyed the game!

Uh oh, this game makes mine look like garbage. This is really great, I honestly think this might get top 20. I don't know how you polished it this much in 48 hours.

Developer

Our game from last year had 7 ratings and didn't even break into the top 50%. Keep at it and try to think with the time you have, I'm sure you'll make something you're proud of! Thanks for playing!

This game was a blast to play! It was interesting and fun. I wish the dude didn't reset every time, though I understand why he does.

Developer

Yeah, in terms of the time we had to work with it was really the only thing we could do. As we work on the project more this is definitely something we're going to work on. I'm glad you enjoyed the game, thank you!

Insanely creative and interesting puzzle game! It was really fun to figure out how to utilize limited commands for the long stretch at the end!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'm glad the ending seems to have gone over so well, I was wondering if it was maybe a little much. I'm looking forward to making even more tricky puzzles in the future, thank you for playing!

Submitted(+2)

Oh man, we had the same game idea lol. Anyways, the game is great. Congratulations!

Developer(+1)

Looks like a few people had a similar concept during the jam! What makes me happy is we all took a fairly different direction with it. I'm happy you enjoyed it, thank you!

Really cool idea! I liked the fact that you could put two actions in one color and change them while the game progresses. I think I understand why you had to reset the character position to the checkpoint at every change in the level (I am guessing moving platforms timing were the issue). However as a player it feels kinda weird and you want to see your guy continue running as you edit the level.

Very good entry! Thanks for the game

Developer

That's definitely understandable and has been pointed out by a lot of players, we're looking into ways to make the experience smoother. I'm glad you enjoyed it, thank you for playing!

Really fun idea presented very well! Found the guy resetting whenever I made any changes a bit irritating, but nothing game ruining :)

Developer

We're definitely looking into ways to alleviate this frustration. Thank you for playing!

This is my favorite of the Jam so far. Great job!

Developer

Thank you for playing!

Nice game :) Really polished implementation! I just wish the robot wouldn't tp back whenever I paint

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! The reset on paint was a quick solution to the need to have consistent timing for the puzzles, I can already think of ways to make this a little less inconvenient and I'd be happy to release an update including this.

Submitted(+2)

This is awesome! The idea is super creative and the pixel art is amazing. My only suggestion would be to add a button where you can speed things up, but other than that great job!

Developer

It's been said a lot and it's certainly in the books for a post-jam update. I'm glad you liked it!

Submitted(+2)

Loved the "Programing aspect". Would be really cool if you could some how turn this into a Turing complete game. Like self coding blocks or something.

Developer

That would certainly be an interesting direction to take. Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Amazing game! 10/10! I liked all aspects of the game!

I almost gave up on the last puzzle, but in the end, I figured it out! :D

Maybe just a really small nitpick, I wanted to have a partial restart sometimes, especially when my little guy didn't reach the newly painted tile.

Developer

That's quite a good idea, only resetting if it affects the previously applied tiles. I'll consider this for a post jam update. Thank you very much for playing!

Such high praise, it's very appreciated! We're definitely considering releasing a full version of the game.

Thank you very much for playing!

It was wonderful 15 minutes!
Really polished one, with clever puzzle rules and limitations. (and such a cute "player" who followed all instruction perfectly :D)

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! We're happy it all came together so well.

Submitted(+3)

this has to be in the top 20 or however many get in the video. great idea, perfectly executed, expanded and iterated upon over and over again, polished as hell and just plain fun to play. showcase of raw skill and dedication. huge congratulations and thanks for the experience :)

Developer(+1)

Very kind of you to say, that would be pretty incredible! I'm happy you enjoyed our game so much, thank you for playing!

Submitted(+2)

This is amazing! I love how customizable the commands are, along with how the different commands combine with each other to create unique trajectories for the computer character. Nice job!

Developer(+1)

I'm happy to hear you appreciated it, we spent quite some time tinkering with how the moves work when used alone and combined together. Thank you for playing!
