Brilliant game design! Really makes you think about getting the timing right for moving & pressing buttons. The challenge is also just right, that you have to be precise in traversing your character. I also like that every level has different spice & variation to the mechanics to make things interesting (I played until level 3 but watch your video to find out the other mechanics)
Thanks for the nice feedback. Also thanks for spending some time on the videos :)
Clever twist on an old mechanic. I like the way thr rules are constantly shifting too. And it got lovely presentation, and good controls, however...
It's waaay too hard for me! I always say that if you're making a puzzle game where the puzzles fun comes from figuring out a solution, once you've worked out that solution it should be pretty easy to perform it. Even having watched the walkthrough I think I'd never be able to perform most of the solutions!
I really loved Getting Over It with Bennet Foddy (clearly what this game's namesake is). That was hard, but not in a puzzley way. It was just a skill you had to build up through practice and repetetion. I got over it with Bennet Foddy, but I don't think I'll ever get over it with myself!
Thank you so much! I will definitely make this game easier in a post-jam version cuz I really want this game to focus on the puzzles instead of platformer skills :)
Nice Game very clever puzzles.
I didn't get to finish it myself (too hard for me) but i saw a lot of it in different stream & the level design is pretty good.
Good job. :)
Thanks :D
Really fun game. It reminds me a bit of Celeste when fighting Badeline :). You made some really interesting puzzles around having a lagged behind ghost. That was super neat.
I'm really impressed by the size of the game. I haven't gotten past level 3 yet but I'll definitely play to the end!
Congrats on such a nice game!
Thanks for the nice feedback. Happy you like it :)
Fun game with interesting ideas :] The only problem is the crushingly hard diffuculty and hard controls.
I suggest making the player jump how much the space key is pressed rather then a fixed amount that way it could be easy to make little jumps :D
Overall i would like to see this game worked on nice job :]
Thank you so much for the feedback. Definitely gonna fix this problem in a post-jam version.
Beautiful game! great art and great music and sound effects! It starts off a little tricky but it's worth trying over and over because of the great atmosphere!
Thanks :D
I really enjoyed it and I'm by far no skilled platformer pro or something even close but it was a challenge in a way that really kept me going - added to my collections! <3
Thank you so much! I will definitely make this game easier in a post-jam version since the focus of this game is the puzzles instead of platformer skills :)
I died like 100 times. No exaggeration. I'm dead serious. And I'm really not into rage game.
...
But yet, I didn't quit.
That's crazy man! The game looks SO Gorgeous :O! The visuals, the music, it creates such an atmosphere... almost melancholic. It made me wanna try. Again again and again. The story behind the game is also beautiful man. In your description, I've seen that level 3 was harder than it was meant to be but still, I beat it.
Because even if it's just a game, if I didn't, it would have meant that I wasn't able to be run away from my past... and I REALLY didn't wanted to give up on this note!!! >:(
Lol, by reading my comment, you might think that I had a bad time but it's the OPPOSITE way around. That was beautiful. Damn.
"Game are meant to be fun". A fun game is always a pleasure to play, sure. But games can be so much more than that.
And here... in this game, I saw ART. Great job man!
Damn, man, I really wish my English could be better, so that I can express my respect and gratitude to you properly. I didn't mean to make this game this hard, truly. If I could do more playtesting during the jam and add more checkpoints in the game, people would definitely be able to experience my entire game without the agony of dying over and over again. I feel so sorry right now.
Again, thank you, man. You really made my day. You made me feel that all I have done these days is worthwhile. It's really so kind of you and I hope you had a lot of fun in this jam :)
Fun fact, english isn't my main language either man X)! I actually learned a lot from YouTube. As a programmer or even a computer scientist in general, you have to be able to express yourself in english to be able to learn a lot and share your work with as many people as people. That's why we keep learning man! :)
As for your game, naahhhhh it's not too hard. It's exactly where it's supposed to be! X)
In some levels I was really impressed because you made just the right level layout to make it impossible to complete with an unintended way at the perfect distance! Not too close but not too far either. That was great!
And as for me, yeah X). I also really enjoyed this Jam! That's my first one but I'm glad I was able to make a game and submit it in time! And ratting games is actually way more fun than I tough it would be! I've been doing this since Tuesday X).
I wish you luck going forward dude! :D
This is a nice one. Great setting and great fit to the theme, I really enjoyed this game and the idea! Nice job!
Thanks for the kind words :D
Amazing game. Youd did a great job in the game jam, I liked a lot this game. Really interesting and challenging. Great job!
This is awesome to read. Thank you so much for commenting this :)
Really interesting concept, and explored super well. Great work!
Thanks for the nice feedback! Happy you liked it!
I love the little character sprite! She is too cute and the way her hair lifts up behind her when she moves adds to that factor. <3 I love me a good platformer, and this feels really well done.
Thanks :D
Cool concept - I really liked how the mechanics evolved with the levels.
I also loved the commentary, but think it would be better integrated into the level, as the platforming is a bit too demanding to stop and read the text in the centre of the screen, etc.
(it was also too hard for me, so thanks for providing the video so i didn’t have to break my keyboard in two to see the whole game :D)
Thank you so much for playing my game and watching the video :) Definitely gonna make the commentary more readable in the post-jam version so that more people can read the stories behind the game.
Interesting concept, I think there is a lot of potential here! Nice job!
Thank you so much! Definitely gonna keep working on this game after the jam.
I liked the concept very much. The way you handeld the past version of the player, was very nice, but I didn't really understand why your past self dies immediately, when you do. Also I loved the little story bits you put in. In really enjoyed playing it.
Great game!
Thank you so much for playing my game. And yeah, that's a little bug of the animation. The past version of the player should also die 2 seconds later. I will fix that in the post-jam version.
Definitely an interesting take on this concept. I haven't seen it in the jam yet myself, but it's a cool way to approach it. Plus it's got an interesting underlying story, though I feel like most people are going to be more focused on the endless death cannons!
A few points tho (ignoring difficulty):
Overall though, other than something making it feel like I was having more trouble with controls (tried to pinpoint it), it was an interesting game with, as people have said, a bit of a wacky difficulty curve and a very different story.
Thank you so much for these really detailed suggestions. These suggestions really help in improving the gameplay. I will definitely work on these in a post-jam version of the game.
This game tells a good story and covers a lot of concepts with self-doubt and facing the mistakes we all made in our past. A good play and a good read if you can read text while dodging lasers and getting stuck! Solid concept!
Thank you so much for playing my game and for reading the story :) And yeah, these stories are easily ignored when people are focusing on solving the puzzles and I definitely gonna made the text more readable in a post-jam version.
The best "cooperate with your past self" game I've played this jam! The puzzles were all unique, and I felt like I never had to be too precise with my past self to get through them, and two seconds was the perfect time gap where I felt like I was in control but I had time to come up with a plan.
That said, there were a few bits in the later levels that felt like they required more precision and platforming skill than was necessarily fun - specifically some of the timing that you needed to dodge cannons in level 3 onward, but it was never insurmountable and the core idea still shone through. Had a lot of fun, you should be proud of this game!
Thank you so much for the feedback! Definitely gonna fix those problems in a post-jam version.
I love this idea. And you made some really interesting puzzles with it. A touch too hard for me though. Nice job!
Thank you so much! I really should've made those levels a little easier so that more people can experience the entire game. Sorry for those frustrations in game.
The concept is cool, graphics are great and the level design is pretty well made, I just wish it was a tiny bit less difficult, some parts were needlessly frustrating. Great entry overall !
Thank you so much! And yeah, I agree with you that some parts should definitely have been made easier since this is a game jam. I really should have done more playtesting during the jam. Sorry for those frustrations in the game.
