I liked the idea but the flow isn't quite there. I'm certain if you keep working on this you could potentially have something special here

Submitted

@EroAxe concept is good sometimes it just feels when parkouring that jump force a little too high or I am just bad at it would love it if you can make it something different with better graphics :)

Submitted

Nice concept, I could imagine this becoming a full game, it has potential. Some more responsive controls could make the movement pretty interesting.

The mixin of the colors was pretty clever idea! Controlling the charactes is quite hard and I managed to drop dead more than enough times on wall running :O .. no black paint for STICKY .. :D

Developer

Thanks!! The idea was a very long wait to come up with something.  As for the wall running tho, what specifically were you doing when it broke if you don't mind me asking?  There are a few bugs I didn't manage to wrinkle out and I definitely regret relying on the "is_on_wall" function since I don't really know what it relies on, so I'm probably gonna switch that out for some area collisions or something to make it smoother.

What do you mean by black paint tho?  I have to wonder.

Black paint to make my character stick to the surface so I wouldn`t fall so much :P

Interesting idea ^^ maybe you can make the color selection also with keyboard ^^ and the controls were a bit confusing ^^

Developer(+1)

Ah yea I was thinking about adding Color selection with the keyboard, 1,2,3 etc.  Unfortunately I was a little tired by the time I was doing that code so I didn't get the time to put it.  Though that's definitely going in, it would be very helpful I'm sure.

Didn't really fit the theme, wasn't much fun, and had too many bugs. Sorry, but I can't see this getting good ratings. It definitely needed more work and a clearer tutorial. It is quite unique, though.

Surprised you managed to pull this mechanics off in 48h, wall jumping was fun also! The build for HTML was a bit unstable so I tried out the Window version and it totally worked out well. Thanks for the game!

Developer

Yea it was a really big grind to pull off, I ended up doing a massive marathon near the end to try and get it all at least working.  Even if the color combos are a bit... well unbalanced and definitely buggy.  Good to hear the Windows version worked well though, sorry about the HTML :/ 3D Godot does not like web ports.

I can sense GhostRunner in here :D

The game is fun, cool that you pulled that off in 48 hours!

I had a tough time with the wall running, I must admit.

Well done!

Developer

Yup, definitely Ghostrunner inspired.  What specifically about the wall running though if you don't mind me asking?  I did kinda leave a few bugs in and stuff but I'd definitely like to know what I need to add to the massive list of "things to fix".

I really liked the concept, and I had fun messing with color combinations and trying to cheese puzzles. I would love to see what this could turn into with some fine-tuning of the mid-air controls!

Developer

Ah yea, (bit late srry) the midair controls were the most janky part of the code.  Since I accidentally skipped the portion of the tutorial I was looking at that covered it, then came back while half asleep and implemented it terribly.

I'm just happy it didn't break anything, but yea, mid air controls are terrible.  But, at least you can abuse them a ton with some of the colors.

Your game description reads almost the same like what we were aiming for with our game. To my surprise, you ended up with a totally different game experience. That's really cool. It demonstrates how much variety can come out of creative game development process.

well done but it keeps crashing, I guess its a problem with the html version

Developer

That's weird, I'm not surprised though since it's HTML.  Sorry about the crashes, what exactly were you doing when it crashed?  Just wondering what could be causing it.

Submitted

well I just died and the game crashed

Developer

Weird... I'll test them when I get the chance, thanks for letting me know!!

Really fun game. though I'm not sure how it fits the theme, but no worries.

that being said,I did run into a "problem". The shift key, wich from what I understood is supposed to activate a bullet time, feels more like an unnecessary and unfortunately broken feature. I managed to skip 75% of the level design by just painting a platform blue to jump high, and then glitching my way by spamming the shift key which cancel gravity and lets you move forward nonetheless.

this was fun too, but very much unintended I would guess ^^'

Developer

facepalm I guess in my tiredness I forgot to stop the dash being spammable.  Thanks for pointing that out tho!  I sorta added it cause I wanted to give some control in mid-air, but I guess it is sorta extra I just figured it might help with mid-air movement.  Making it cancel everything was a bit overboard tho and I added that pretty late as a quick fix.

Nice one!

I think that Fullscreen option would be nice - after restarting the game the cursor appears and makes it impossible to play, I have to refresh the whole page :( The idea of different surfaces doing different things is really creative :)

Developer (1 edit)

Darn it I forgot that would happen.  Unfortunately it's an issue with the HTML version since I can't grab the mouse within an Input so I just setup the start button to lock the mouse, but forgot to add it to the restart buttons :/.

I'm happy you enjoyed the idea though!  I'll definitely go back and fix that post-jam, the HTML is always a little screwy.

Edit: Also I sorta had it fitting the theme because you can mix colors together to get different effects, hence "joining them" it's a bit of stretch depending how you look at it tho.
