Really interesting concept, and explored super well. Great work!

I love the little character sprite! She is too cute and the way her hair lifts up behind her when she moves adds to that factor. <3 I love me a good platformer, and this feels really well done.
Cool concept - I really liked how the mechanics evolved with the levels.
I also loved the commentary, but think it would be better integrated into the level, as the platforming is a bit too demanding to stop and read the text in the centre of the screen, etc.
(it was also too hard for me, so thanks for providing the video so i didn’t have to break my keyboard in two to see the whole game :D)
Interesting concept, I think there is a lot of potential here! Nice job!
I liked the concept very much. The way you handeld the past version of the player, was very nice, but I didn't really understand why your past self dies immediately, when you do. Also I loved the little story bits you put in. In really enjoyed playing it.
Great game!
Definitely an interesting take on this concept. I haven't seen it in the jam yet myself, but it's a cool way to approach it. Plus it's got an interesting underlying story, though I feel like most people are going to be more focused on the endless death cannons!
A few points tho (ignoring difficulty):
- The cannons throughout the game seem to be quite weird from location to location and interaction to interaction. Sometimes it felt like I was shot very fast and sometimes it felt relatively slow. But overall it always felt like I almost exactly had to execute something perfectly. The clone here, jump right now etc. I think giving the cannons a bit more leeway would be helpful.
- Throughout there seemed to be an abundance of not just precision but very specific and sometimes hard to figure out, "puzzles" to actually get past some stuff. Ex. level 3s third cannon, which without the "right way" I don't think is possible to pass, or if it is, it's incredibly difficult. It definitely limits stuff a decent amount.
- There was some.. weird behavior I ran into. Specifically with the clone and interactions with doors. The main thing on doors was the fact that the entity clone was able to pass through, but then proceeded to die halfway through. Which was a very different result than I would've expected based off past experience with doors.
- One slight movement thing that was a bit weird was the very big jump between a "hop" and a "large jump" that you needed for a decent amount of jumps. It didn't feel like there was much in between, it more felt like there were 3 "stages", maybe even just 2. A high jump, a medium jump and a little hop, mostly due to the huge difference between a hop and a medium jump from such a small difference in how long the button was held.
Overall though, other than something making it feel like I was having more trouble with controls (tried to pinpoint it), it was an interesting game with, as people have said, a bit of a wacky difficulty curve and a very different story.
This game tells a good story and covers a lot of concepts with self-doubt and facing the mistakes we all made in our past. A good play and a good read if you can read text while dodging lasers and getting stuck! Solid concept!
The best "cooperate with your past self" game I've played this jam! The puzzles were all unique, and I felt like I never had to be too precise with my past self to get through them, and two seconds was the perfect time gap where I felt like I was in control but I had time to come up with a plan.
That said, there were a few bits in the later levels that felt like they required more precision and platforming skill than was necessarily fun - specifically some of the timing that you needed to dodge cannons in level 3 onward, but it was never insurmountable and the core idea still shone through. Had a lot of fun, you should be proud of this game!
I love this idea. And you made some really interesting puzzles with it. A touch too hard for me though. Nice job!
The concept is cool, graphics are great and the level design is pretty well made, I just wish it was a tiny bit less difficult, some parts were needlessly frustrating. Great entry overall !
Reminds me of celeste ... Clever puzzles and I'd like to see more xD
A bit unforgiving but that's the fun of those games lol
( Hey why is the ahoge counts in the bounding box xDDD
I wonder if you've played an old flash game called "The Company of Myself"? Your game reminded me of that (but you do something different). Lots of good puzzles and platforming challenges, although I found the level design and checkpoints a bit harsh.
Thank you very much! Never played that game before and I just had a look at it. There are definitely some similarities, but I think that game is more like recording your action and then playing it back together with your current self, whereas in my game, you have to take care of both yourself and your past simultaneously, which I think are different game experience. As for the save points, I definitely should've added more savepoints which I forgot during the jam. Sorry for the frustration from that.
Wow there's so much depth to this game! Lots of new mechanics were crammed into such a short period of time. Everything was well stitched together and controls were tight enough to feel good, but just slippery enough to add to the challenge. And boy was it challenging! Level design was fantastic. My only complaint was that I wish there were more save points throughout. But if you were going for something nearing a Super Meat Boy level of challenging, you nailed it!
Really original concept, and lovely design to the game. It's pretty hard, but a fun experience none-the-less
Holy-moly....It's amazing! Well done! :D
I would like to watch a walkthrough of it , cuz I stuck at a point. :P
Thank you! And I just upload a detailed walkthrough of my game on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edpFfN-48B4
This game has a lot of hidden complexity, which I really like. Even just the homing cannon things are exciting enough, and there are so many cool mechanical things that can be done with your past self. The game does feel a little bit too precise though, but again it's clearly inspired by Bennett Foddy's Getting Over It so it makes sense. The only other thing that I might change would be the text, which I never really got the chance to read because it was always in my peripheral vision. A voice-over would be nice!
