I definitely like the idea of having two playable games at once. But at the moment neither is fully optimized. Which to me feels like your gamejam would have benefited a lot more if you only focused on one of the games.

However both of the games do have a lot of potential to have a ton of fun. So I would encourage you to finish this jam and polish everything up.

One of the things for me that I would like to see changed. Is perhaps switching between the two modes. Or at least add some form of pause functionality. Having two things going on at once is very difficult for an amateur gamer like me to manage.

I would also love to see the basic enemies nerfed a little. And the main wizard buffed. He is supposed to be an all powerful evil wizard. Yet his attacks are very limited in power and range.

It's kind of a shame that this game is so short, because I'd love to see this more developed! Well done!

Underwhelming. Game is incredibly short, so there's no need to focus on tower defense at all. Needs more dungeon development. If you can get the balance right, though, this would be an incredible game. Dungeon crawlers and tower defense games are some of my favorite genres.

Definitely love this idea! The idea of linking a Tower Defense type with a dungeon crawler is a great idea! The art is very good as well. It definitely needs tweaking, but this is a great proof of concept with potential.

Really liked the idea. Need a little bit of balancing as you can just rush the items and avoid the villagers.

Would love to see more of it.

Interesting twist between Dungeon game alongside a tower defence game (using cards). Keep up the great work.

Well, the game was very hard for me, and I won the first time by just collecting ingredients fast. It was definitely worth trying again though, as collecting cards to place/upgrade towers was the real game IMO. After like 5 retries I managed to make the towers kill most heroes.

Having the enemies who passed the towers spawn in a dungeon crawler part is a cool idea, and it makes up for an interesting outcome: on one hand, you want your towers to kill enemies, but on the other you won't get cards then anymore. I think the concept is worth some further exploration.

Amazing job!

8/10. Great game, not enough BEAR

Very interesting idea, I feel that the tower would be more impactful if they did more damage.

Otherwise, I would love to see this concept expanded!

A really original idea! The camera can just go between rooms randomly sometimes. I really like the art and music, good job!

Very cool game! I love the idea of trying to combine a dungeon crawler with a tower defense game, it's super novel and results in some really interesting gameplay. I was able to beat the game super quickly once I found all of the ingredients but found myself replaying just to experiment with the stuff heroes could drop.

If you wanted to expand on this concept, it could be cool to have to get some elements from heroes killed on the tower defense side or in the dungeon, that could help to continue to mend the two gameplay styles and result in some interesting decision making.

Overall, super fun game! Check out mine if you get the chance!

Its a real shame about the room switching bug. I wasn't able to get very far without dying because of it, and I wanted to, because I loved what I saw. The art style is cute, and I love the idea of managing two games at once.

Ah, I'm sorry the camera issues were annoying for you :(

For what it's worth, they're not too tricky to fix - try to return to the entrance of the room or even just the doorway and it should quickly even out.

Still, I'm glad you enjoyed the idea and presentation! Thank you for the comment!

Aw, sweet wholesome ending. Adorable.

Really neat concept. A little bit of issue with the camera  moving to rooms the wizard wasn't in, but that was the only bug. As others mentioned- the game is quick to end. But I can see running around collecting new tower cards and upgrades being really fun. I'm interested to see where you take this next- tower defense games could use this side game to make them more engaging. Neat idea!

I really like the presentation and concept, but as others have said, it's pretty easy to pick up all the ingredients before any enemies arrive, and the towers don't seem to kill many heroes, so it'd be great to see this expand to make it more necessary to use towers and all.

Fantastic little game! I love the music, art and the slow impending doom of the heroes. The demon was a nice surprise too!

I love the overall look and feel of the game - a very attractive and consistent artstyle that makes the world of the game really engaging. The music built the atmosphere nicely, without being distracting etc. The mechanics are quite smooth, other than the slight camera issue in the mushroom room - however, I really enjoyed the challenge of navigating the heroes whilst trying to collect the items - challenging without being impossible. I'd love to see an expanded version of the game, perhaps with other things to summon, or to build. Overall, a very fun game, very complete-looking. Nice job! :D

Hello! We really like this idea a lot, we could easily see this expand to a full game! We think we might not have gotten the full experience because we only got one tower and couldn't open any doors. Did we miss something (like how you make a new tower)? We'd love to play more of this!

Developer (1 edit)

Hiya! Sorry we weren't super clear on mechanics, you get new cards by killing enemies and bringing them to the main portal. From there, drag the power-up card onto one of your existing towers!

Closed doors are also there just for show, but we have some plans for them in a potential post-jam version :D

Oh, ok! We'll try again. We're really intrigued by this concept!

Solid idea, it's refreshing to see a tower defense game mixed with dungeon crawling. Perhaps you're the first to do that. Apart from lack of crucial info such as the way to obtain the power ups and a minor bugs such as the screen doesn't follow the character (noticeably in the mushroom's room) I thought this would be an easy game but it was chaotic for me in a good way when the enemies entered my place! It's hard to obtain the powerups and having the chance to use all the towers though, this is due to hitboxes and how much attack/damage is received/sent between player and the enemy ai. This can be fixed easily I believe. Adding more abilities to our character for emergency such as area damage would be a nice addition. Finally, that devil chick at the end is 'hot' af. lol. Above all, this is some well thought design, great job!

The concept and idea is really interesting, I hope you plan on expanding it because It solves one of the biggest issues with tower defense games. The fact that you basically have nothing to do for large periods of time. It would be really cool if you ran around "building" new towers on the left for example, or spells that you can use.

The fact that enemies which pass the tower come inside to kill you is such a great idea. If you could upgrade your hero, it could allow you to focus on different playstyles, for example going for a lot of strong towers, or facing the enemies yourself.

Visually this is one of the best entries so far, everything looks and feels incredibly coherent and polished. Great job!
