I love bureaucratic games like this that explore the silent terror of paper pushing. Well done! I did notice that "Terrified" seems to make soldiers immune to exhaustion.

I've designed a system like yours before -- though yours is far more elegant! -- and I made a distinction between an individual's MORALE and their EFFICIENCY. Morale measures something like "Terrified", and in your game would be a soldier's chance of committing actions that would lead to court martial. Efficiency is more akin to the tiredness mechanic.

You could make an interesting game out of the balance of these in each individual soldier, and random events could have an effect on them (e.g. successfully repelling a raid gives a boost to Morale, wet weather saps Efficiency across the board -- get imaginative with it!). You have the bones there for it, just a matter of iteration.

Over all, this is an excellent game. I'd love to play it again once you've really put a gleaming shine on it!

Hey! thanks for playing my game and ty for your feedback. Having terrified soldiers not become exhausted was an intended choice. Their probability of desertion is the same as if they were tired and falling asleep.  The only difference is one has a higher crime value then the other.  and you can spiral out of control with all your soldiers becoming terrified.

funny thing is your suggestions align with what I'm already doing as I'm developing this game further.  Currently working of the fluidity of the controls first to accommodate more soldiers to add ramping difficulty.

Cool! I can't wait to play the next update!

Whoa! Easily one of the most atmospheric games I've played in this jam. Love everything you're doing here. My only note is that "Terrified" seems like a beneficial side effect compared to Tired/Exhausted? I got a lot of work out of my tireless team of five scaredy cats, but that might just be luck.

Thanks for playing. I have explained the reasoning behind terrified soldiers in the comment above, I guess it all comes down to how I tweak the rng. I probably should have made it a little more likely then sleeping when tired.

Ah okay I get the metaphor now. Thanks for clarifying and thanks again for the awesome experience!

Wonderful aesthetic and atmosphere, looking forward to seeing more from you! As GreenClover mentioned, the only thing I'd suggest is being able to stamp multiple times without putting it down.

Congrats on a great submission!

a very interesting concept & i really like the resource management aspect :D would be great if there was a tiny bit less text to read, but still a great idea! good job :D

This was such a cool concept! It would be nice to see an updated version with a little more strategy (and a little less randomness) - but this is one of the most unique submissions I've played so far. Fantastic job!

A very challenging management game with great presentation. Really enjoyed this one.

Great game... pretty hard to manage everyone but I really enjoyed it! I guess I'm too soft and didn't send enough people to jail!

I love management games. Enjoyed Papers Please. This reminds me of it. Really nice work :)

Wow, I really like this. It's simple but effective, and I love the art.

As boring it may seem for someone watching, it is just as fun playing it.

From an outside perspective all you are doing is assigning different stuff to every solider everyday; while you are making meaningful choices, and taking risks, and are trying to dig a tunnel.

Thanks for playing! I agree entirely, Once people get into the game think they find it  interesting but getting people to even consider playing is hard as the their is no real fast passed action or flashy images to get people to play.

Great work!

Thank you !

Wow, this is really well done. Love the aesthetic of it, but I do wish there was a way to switch the action on a character once chosen, as I did end up choosing the wrong one a couple of times.

Developer

Thanks for playing ;) leaving the undo out was on purpose to force players to slow down and think about their decisions before stamping. I probably should have made this more clear with an ingame warning.

I figured as much. Great job anyway.

A wonderful, poignant game that's beautiful and reminded me a lot of Papers Please. One small change I'd of loved is not having the stamp go back after each stamp. I loved the effect, but that did annoy me.

Hi there, thanks for playing ;)

Has really good art and is a fun chance-based strategy game that executes the theme of the jam well. Great work!

If you have time I'd love for you to check out my game!

Developer

Thanks for the taking the time to play my game! I'll be sure to play yours.

Really cool game. I like how polish it looks. It sounds like a nice concept to develop upon ! A bit slow paced maybe for a Jam where people won't spend a lot of time on it but I hope people will take  the time.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback ;)  My thoughts exactly, Im not used to game jams so I made a game I wanted to make rather then  one that plays can instantly get into. It might effect the amount of people who will fully enjoy the game, but we shall see.
