the zombies are very hard to see against the background and the fov is to zoomed in but still an interesting concept

Nice idea but think its too out of the player's hands with rock casualties and complete lack of control... something to play around with more but I like the initial concept

Nice game!

This is a clever concept, but I'm not sure that having no control over when you crash makes for a very fun game. It would be neat if firing a missile pushed the car a bit so you could sort of "dodge" things - that might add some more strategy to it. Good job though!

I like the idea of not being in control of the vehicle! Nice to just concentrate on shooting.

Submitted

That is a nice idea! With some polishing it can become a really interesting game.

fun idea and love the art!  I'm curious what the logic/AI is for the car because it felt really natural.

Developer

for the car, it's just rotating at a fixed rate. Then in random intervals it just swaps the direction that it's driving in.

Good concept. It was a cool-looking art-style. I wonder if it could be more forgiving, maybe, like if you had multiple lives? That might just me being bad though. Also, maybe make the bullets a bit faster so that the player didn't run into them as often? Also, I know time and stuff, but it would be useful to have a cool down on the gun maybe? I liked the scoreboard feature, but it was a little under-presented, and I almost didn't notice it.

I like the concept, but the execution seems off to me. Being completely unable to avoid rocks makes it so that runs feel random as to what the outcome will be.

I really like the mechanic that you can't control the car and the 2d top-down perspective. The rocks are brutal but for some reason, I kinda enjoyed the RNG of me living or dying. Def Out of Control! :-)

Submitted

Cool concept, it'd be nice if there would be a tutorial, since I couldn't figure out how to dodge the rocks. Great game tho!

I like the concept of driving around in an out of control car, though if you could influence the direction in some minor way, and allow us to blow up rocks, that would make it a bit more fun.

love the explosions! wish they were present when we took out the green mobs though.

Hey ArithMetic!

Neat game. A little disorienting but I guess that's the point :) Does the number of zombies increase over time? I think this game could have some help from some user experience improvements. Maybe some indicators where zombies are coming from? I think that there should be some way of avoiding the rock, some sort of jump or something. Its still challenging but not game breaking.

Keep up the work!

Great game! Keep creating games!

Nice idea I enjoyed playing :) Reminded me of playing Halo when someone else is driving the vehicle and you're shooting haha. I think you shouldn't have unavoidable things like rocks. If you want rocks I'd say make them destructible. You already cover the jam them by not being able to control the vehicle. You don't really need an object that randomly ends your run.

I find funny the concept of not being able to control the trajectory of the car. You can see death comming your way and you can do absolutely nothing to avoid it. I guess this perfectly answer the theme of the jam !

That said, I think this is also frustrating for the player (please let us shoot forward!).

Frustration is not really a felling you want your player to feel, especially in a context of a jam, when we have mountains of other games to rate and quiting to move on at any frustration is reaaaallly easy for any of us.

The game has some issues regarding lisibility that could be an easy fix.

To make it better you should think of changing the color of the enemies so that they don't blend like that in the background. You can also give them a contrasting outilne.

You should think about the camera. Maybe the car shouldn't be in the center of the screen, but closer to its bottom so that the player could see the enemies arrive.

Regarding the design of the game itself, you really removed the player's control. Next time you want to do something like that, maybe try to think about how to give the player the illusion of loosing control without making the game too frustrating.

Good start to your game jam path, definitely some polish to improve on but well done!

I see what you were going for there, I've found a small issue where firing towards the front of the vehicle will blow it up, I would have liked to have been able to fire forward, overall though, nice concept!

Submitted

I think this is a cool concept but I, like the many other commenters don't like the rocks. There is just no way to avoid dying to them. You also sometimes spawn on top of a rock and it instantly kills you.

It's a little unfair to just randomly crash into rocks. I thought at first that your aim was to shoot in a direction you didn't want to go in order to 'scare' the driver into changing directions or something. Good job on submitting though!
