Congratulations for the game! Loved the overall aesthetics and how it is linked with the theme.. Rated <3

If you are interested in Tower Defense, check out our game. A tower defense where you can control only one tower at a time.

You can bring a horse to water, but you can't get them to stop biting you in the ass.

I feel like I may be missing something here... I don't see how you have a "weapon" at all if all you can do is run away or try to dodge the enemies. Also, I found it very difficult to survive much longer than a minute each time because enemies either immediately sprint towards you before you ca see them or group up and follow you until you get surrounded. On the bright side, I loved the graphics and colors in your game, so great job on all of that!

Great idea !
Combining your life and your weapon is not really common !

If I may : I was lost a little bit at the beginning. I didn't know how to survive after the first hit.
But after thinking about it I figure it out the mechanics :P
If you have time post-jam, a little tutorial would do the job perfectly :)

My submission here if you want to take a look : https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/462077
Good job overall :)

your game was really cool to play!

Great game! Good music and lighting, a good idea to reveal the maze after death.

Developer

Thank you :)

I liked how the maze is revealed for some seconds after you die, since it makes it easier for me to picture it in my mind and remember it next time I play. I would have liked to see some kind of hint to determine where the nearest light is, because I did feel very lost at times. I also loved the music. Very simple, yet very calm. I even left the game running in the background and listened to the track while doing other stuff.

Lastly, I'd appreciate it if you check out my team's submission for the #GMTK2019!

If you think you have the courage to help the Juan and Only jelly knight recover his human form, the challenge awaits you here.

And don't forget to rate the game here!

Thanks!
I was planning on adding some particle trail to let the player know which way the life is...
hence making it more mystical too :)

here is the link to the song - I really liked it as well:

I helped the fierce Juan, the Jelly Knight, to defeat his foes!
I left you a comment/rating on the game

Thanks for the link to the track and for playing our game! :D

Great use of the one life mechanic where you have to find you life (extra life?), spend it on a target, respawn, and then retrieve your extra life before you're hit without it. Very creative!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I had not seen it as an extra life, but it totally works viewing it as an extra life!

The way I had seen it was that, the purple square is your life. You must sacrifice it to  defeat the enemies. When that happens you respawn back at the start, without your life - and if you are caught without it - you die for good.

The controls are pleasing, feels great to avoid the enemies, but as the other people commented, the objective it is not very clear (or I was not able to find any light xD)
Nice job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I spent quite a bit of time fine tuning the controls :)

Indeed - the objective is not very clear. I was torn in between telling the objective and letting the players figure it out.

A bit more design should be able to let me show the objective without having to explicitly tell what the objective is.

I really liked the art/music in your game! - also cool name "BuendiaGames"

Great game :) . Especially the music .I didn't really get the objective at first but after a few mins of playing it became clear. Very nice :)

Developer(+1)

I am glad you got the objective after a few tries :)

The game looks and feels great but personally I think the objective is kinda ... blurry. Maybe you should update the instruction to make it clearer or making the UI or character design a bit more obvious cause sometime I feel like I don't know what I'm suppose to do.

Developer(+1)

Indeed! A bit more design work can make the game more intuitive!
Thanks for playing!
