Hilarious. I love the over-the-top cinematic at the end.
Thank you, I was very happy with it too
This could become a great puzzle game ! Also like the story, nice humour
Some highlights on which items the player can interact with would be a nice improvement though
Great job !
Thank you, I plan to expand on it and create some better puzzles, the existing ones were more a tutorial grade difficulty but I ran out of time to create more. The interaction needs some highlighting, I will work on that too.
Wow, this is really good, it is so fun and good looking!
Thank you, glad you like my two newfound buddies. I really liked the asset pack too
Very well-made! Nice job! I was not immediately clear on which items I could interact with, but great work! Perhaps some particles emitted from interactable items would help, or some kind of graphical outline when you hover the mouse over.
Yeah, I need to improve on that front. Thanks for your feedback :)
Wow that was really great for your first game, it was a lot of fun... and I loved the dungeon assets, best in class ;p
It was indeed my first, glad you liked it. The assets are mostly from an asset pack, I linked it in the description. Only the bookstand, the books and the shelves were created by me. EDIT: oh, you used the same xD yes, they are great
Nice little read 'n speeder you got here! Fun with some clever dialogue and with some interesting mechanics for sure. I enjoyed it! My suggestion/feedback would be to maybe make it a little more clear what you can click in the first area. The lever was a little hard to spot. Also, I'm hoping there will be lots more things to click with fun dialogue in each area, that's such a pleasure of the genre. Good work, keep it up!
I will work on that, thank you for the feedback. Glad you liked it :)
Cute little adventure game! I loved the fourth wall breaking/meta jokes. The distraction mechanic for the stealth segments was also a really cool idea and worked well. The movement was a little glitchy and teleport-y, but other than that I had no issues. Great job!
Thank you. The glitchy movement seems to be a browser thing, didn't happen while running local, so it was hard to debug. I'll try to get it under control though.
Cool interpretation, interesting idea, love the dialogues, wish there was more content and puzzles! The movement sometimes worked weird, and I wish there was more feedback to the interactions (what are u interacting with, when can u do it, etc). Nice job!
Thank you, I plan to add more content later, but without the pressure of a jam it may take a little ;) The mouse cursor should actually change as soon as you hover some interactable, but it seems to be broken in the current build :(
Very creative idea! This is a different literal interpretation of stand than what I have seen so far, and you have a good base for a puzzle game here. Big fan of the dialogue and story you have going here. I had some issues initially because the scaling settings don’t seem to support different window sizes well, you may want to play around with them in your Godot project settings with different resolutions to see what works. I also has some issues with the book stand jumping around a bit when moving, potentially a frame-dependent movement issue or something with physics? I hope you continue to work on this afterwards and great job on your first game jam!
Thank you :) The jumping is a performance thing, it doesn't happen at all in the windows build (which I forgot to upload, duh!), but I'll have to optimize for browser as it seems. I forgot to handle the fullscreen stuff, so definitely some work here, first project after all. I plan to continue working on it, it deserves a few better puzzles and at least one other book-character
I so appreciate the joke "the programmer was too lazy to add an animation for that" haha - very, very fun, makes me really wish it was longer so I could play more of the story! Good job :)
Thank you. I plan to expand on it a little, I've grown fond of these two characters over the jam
Wow what a fun game! I was able to complete it and had a lot of fun doing so. The sneaking bits reminded me of some of my favorite parts of Ocarina of Time when you have to sneak into the castle and avoid the guards. The visuals were great too!
Awesome work!
Thank you. I never had a console so I didn't play Zelda, but I am glad you liked it :)
it was hard to figure out what to do but the aesthetics and the story was good
Thank you. There should have been a different cursor when you hover over interactables, but somehow that got bugged in the last build :(
That was some effective storytelling and humorous writing! Great work!
Thank you, glad you liked it :)
Cool twist on the theme! good use of assets and worldbuilding-
unfortunately half way through the stool disappeared and the game crashed for me but that might have been a me problem
Good atmosphere, fun idea and good writing! well done!
Oh... do you know in which level at which action the crash happend? That would help me to look into it. Glad you liked it besides the crash
IIRC it was the second room where you see the shadow, after the dialog between the book and the stand the stand dissapeared. I *was* trying to move the stand with the direction keys while the dialog was on so I guess I could maybe have queued up the movement commands in some way or moved the stand out of frame by accident!
Thanks, I'll look into it
Bro this is so well done. Like I love the polish so much. And there is story as well. would definitely love to play more content. hope you continue working on it. A job well done.
Thank you, I plan to do an update some time in the future :D
This was fantastic! I love the cinematic feel of the whole thing, as well as the clash of characters. The self-deprecating humor toward the beginning was also a great twist ("programmer was too lazy to animate it", etc.) XD
I want to point out something regarding the animation spell: I had no idea that you didn't require line of sight! I was wondering why all the stools and whatnot were in inconvenient positions to reach, and only finally figured it out at the very last obstacle where the shade is just floating in place. I think this misconception happened because the first room is all about moving toward things and picking them up - psychology at work.
Awesome job!
Thank you, I appreciate that :D For the Line of sight, I thought some time if I should do it, but it would have complicated things so I decided that this would be something to work on if I had spare time in the end. I didn't so I am thinking about doing it for a future release.
In the first room you need to move, because to get the range-spells, you need to pick up the book first. It is a bit misleading though. I am also thinking for a LoS check for the ghosts which gets deactivated on distraction, but I am not sure this is the right thing to do. Thanks for playing!
LOL just when it was getting good. I do hope you continue because I would play and read more. Great job! I really enjoyed all the aspects together honestly -- you did well with your design/assets.
Thank you... I ran out of time, I even planned to add another book for some more funny interactions. Well, I will continue for sure and hopefully have a few more interesting puzzles
Then I look forward to it! Gave you a follow so I can find you and the game again in the future :)
Cute and funny, loved it! I couldn't figure out what to do at first until I saw your comment responding to someone else. I kept clicking the door, I didn't see the lever. Then the lever wasn't working, didn't realize I had to pick up the book first lol.
I probably should have just made the door clickable xD glad you liked it
Loved the dialogue & story between the two, was very funny - as well as that lil cinematic with the camera swoop and epic music at the end :DD For just working on it by yourself, it was very impressive!! You should definitely expand on this if you get the change! thanks for creating this :)
Thank you for your kind words, I plan to give it a proper update later :)
Really a nice idea! enjoyed it very much!
Glad you liked it :D
