It took a bit to understand how to play it XD but once I've got the hang of it, the game was pretty fun.
I never used Blender but this is how image it to work XD
Feedback:
I think that a guided tutorial level or a video explaining how to play it would have help me a lot in the beginning.
Really unique game, also great idea and implementation.
Bravo!
Ha! Yeah, you definitely do a lot of these movements in Blender - I didn't make that comparison myself, but it makes a lot of sense!
I definitely like the idea of spreading the tutorial information across way more levels, partly to practice the controls, and partly to help the player understand how to think their way through a puzzle. Great that you enjoyed it; thanks for playing!
Don't know why I had such a hard time understanding what the controls were at first. I figured it out. And you wrote it right there. I think maybe my RMB was not working, cuz I swear I was click on everything. Any way. It's a nice game. It's a little tricky, but I got the hang of it.
If there's one thing I've learned from participating in the jam, it's that text doesn't seem to be anywhere near as effective at conveying information to players as I thought it would be. Maybe text itself isn't the whole problem, but I'll be going back to the drawing board with it anyway, ha! Thanks for giving it a play!
I like the concept, a lot! It would be nice if controls were a bit more intuitive. A few times I had some pins fall on their own at the start of the level, you might want to look into that :)
Thanks for playing! A controls upgrade is coming, but regarding the pins, this is most likely due to the fact that Godot does not natively have a deterministic physics solution, so there is no guarantee that any particular machine will execute exactly the same way on all hardware. That said, the only place where a pin should fall without human intervention is the "crate pin" on the main menu. It would help me a lot if you could tell me which pins and levels you saw this with =)
first level, the short pin on the lower platform did it a few times. Cannot remember where it happened after that, but also another pin did it. It fell on its own at the start of the level. Playing on WebGL on Chrome, hope it helps!
There are a few pins, that one included, that are placed a little above the platform itself - I figured I didn't need them to be pixel-accurate since gravity would do the rest. There's a possibility that this somewhat lazy approach of mine didn't mesh well with Chrome etc., because the gap on that pin is quite a bit larger than for most other pins. Thanks for taking the time to get back to me on this, it's definitely helpful!
Very FUN and UNIQUE idea on this game! AWESOME WORK!!! GREAT ART!!! NICE MECHANICS!!! This was a fun challenging game. Loved it.
Wonderful! Great to hear you had a good time with it ^v^
I got stuck on the balloon level, I couldn't get the barrels to roll everytime.
I really like the game though, it really makes you think about how to use the unlocked shape
That was the idea behind that one! I do need to rework that puzzle though, or at least provide a bit of a hint to it. In its current form, it suffers a little too much from "pixel placement" issues. It's great you liked it anyway! Thanks for playing =)
I like that many games have pins as theme :D and very chaotic game but i liked it
Thanks for playing! And yes, I also found it interesting how many people chose a bowling-related theme ^v^
This was awesome! I also thought of making a last standing pin game but didn't know how to approach it, this is really cool, complex mechanics and interesting take, also love this kind of physics puzzle games! The way of moving, rotating and scaling could be a little simpler or more intuitive, but still works fine, it justs makes it less dynamic in a way. Still incredible job!
Also glad you're feeling better and you were able to submit it <3
Thank you, very nice to hear!
This game reminds me of Crazy Machines, nice puzzles and player freedom. Adding visual control (gizmos) for the position/rotation/scale would be cool,or at the vely least snapping the values to +-5 and giving the player to manually input the value would make a huge difference as well.
Cool game, cheers ;)
Oh definitely! Pin Up is largely inspired by The Incredible Machine, which itself was the blueprint for Crazy Machines. Gizmos and control over snapping are both planned features, and although I was a bit on the fence about a manual input textbox, I'll probably end up doing that too, if for no other reason than to give every possible option for convenience and preference. Thanks for the feedback!
You're welcome! Best of luck :D
Knocked over the credits pin by accident and assumed that was the end of the game at first. Great work!
Ha! Well I'm glad you stuck with it a touch longer then; I'll be experimenting with ways to make all of that a bit clearer in future. Thanks for playing!
Some very clever game design in here, and no short-changing of player freedom to be found. I also love your taste in music. Very fun entry.
Thank you, great to hear!
Nice puzzles! An indicator of scores for pins before you knock them down might be nice, so you can plan for an optimal solution. A lot of fun regardless though!
That's a very good idea actually. Porkrind mentioned below that spreading out the introduction of new mechanics would improve clarity a lot, and your suggestion fits in very nicely with that. Cheers!
I loved incredible machine back in the day, great spin on it!
Thanks! This was a lot of fun to make ^v^
Man, that was really fun. From the title screen, you're already getting a player to figure things out, which is pretty cool. Got the final challenge on the first try (by pure luck of course)!
Regarding some of your questions:
1) What if you had some sort of ice cube that would melt in the right condition. Or possibly an object that explodes on collision.
2) I think it would be great to see a visual version of the transform controls. I know that probably would have been a lot of extra stuff for a jam, but being able to drag a rotation and scale would simplify controls a bit I think.
3) Every round, you introduced a new dynamic or challenge to the game. I think if you were to expand upon this, I would give a little breathing room between each new challenge introduced by having a second challenge similar in components to the previous. That also breaks up some of the tutorial text.
Awesome!
1) Ooh, the ice cube is a great idea! There's something similar in Human Fall Flat and it's a lot of fun to mess around with. I modelled an object that would explode on collision (based on the nitroglycerine in The Incredible Machine), but it got cut due to time.
2) For sure, providing multiple simultaneous control options is on the to-do list! That way, the player will have something convenient no matter what the situation is.
3) Totally agree with this also.
Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate you checking it out!
A very fresh take on puzzle games!
Thanks for playing! =)
A great game! I'd like to see it expanded with some more levels. Well done
Thank you! It definitely will be ^v^
I mean, I don't even know what to say...this was just some of the most fun I've had all jam. Thank you for making such an amazing game! You really created something special here. These were some of my favorite elements.
1) I liked how when you reset each machine your previous changes with the green objects saved, that was really smart because then it was all about micro adjustments here and there for me with scale and rotation to get my ideas to work.
2) That main menu! I mean what a gutsy choice but holy smokes I loved it!
3) The variety of physics that were employed between the different machines, the balloons especially were some of the most fun to interact with.
What an epic last stand! Great job!
Wow, this was absolutely brilliant to read! I'm thrilled you had such a good time with it!
Believe it or not, I think the saved reset mechanic is probably my favourite thing to have implemented. It's actually done with file I/O! I had a lot of fun so far developing this, and I'm glad to see others enjoying it as well ^v^
Nice game
Thanks for playing!
Hey nice puzzle game . rated it.
Excellent, thank you!
Spent countless hours on the the incredible machine, really enjoyed your spin on it. The controls though are a bit difficult to operate, hope you'll get to refine them! Perhaps the biggest suggestion I can make now is to change to a more legible font - a little bit difficult to read through it. Love the music <3
Yes, I was a little on the fence about this font. I knew I wanted something whimsical, but I agree with you, I think I need something just a bit different going forward. Improving controls is indeed one of the first things on the list as well! Thanks for giving it a go! =)

I just noticed that I somehow managed to post this as an ordinary comment instead of a reply, so you likely wouldn't have seen it XD
