This game is awesome! It was so good and good looking, sounds also give a good mood!

This was amazing! good story, awesome atmosphere, good sound, exploring felt great. I had a few issues, I felt some items should've been upgrades that you unlocked and didn't take inventory space. Also the bandages didn't work for me, I never stopped bleeding! I wasn't able to find the scooter but I really want to give this another try later! great job, so jealous haha

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! Agreed, I would have liked to improve how equipment works in the game. Sounds like I need to do some more testing

Really enjoyed the theme and aesthetics! Have you seen Mermanoid on PS1? I love underwater aesthetics, and this made me think of that. Unfortunately, the browser version plays at about 5 fps on my computer, but the .exe works quite nicely! I think a little more clarity on where the player can go would help, it's a bit tough to see where to go next. Looking forward to seeing where this goes!

I made a poor attempt to ply your game here :)

Developer

Looks about right! I'm trying to figure out how to allow the player to go wherever they want but also push them in the direction of key objectives. I think I still have a ways to go till I get it right! Thanks for checking it out. It's great to be able to watch others play it!

Submitted

Wow, looks fantastic! It is a bit hard to see at times, as others have said, but I really enjoyed it! You can definitely see all of the effort you put forward. Keep making games!

Developer

Thanks!

Unfortunately I found the game a bit hard to play due to the low contrast and the darkness, but I did enjoy it and I thought it was an extremely interesting take on the theme. A lot of work clearly went into the design, story and mechanics, and I thought it was very impressive. It would be very cool to see an expanded version of the game (perhaps with some accessibility settings), and it would be nice if hitting space during dialogue completed the dialogue rather than skipping it, since the speed felt a little slow for me.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the thoughtful comments! Completely agree about the darkness and the dialogue aspects.  That dialogue piece has been on my fix list forever. I did find that the web version is somehow darker than the windows version, though I'm considering adding some extra ambient lighting to the choral to balance things out.

Really nice and polished. A good atmosphere too

Nice game. Well done.

This is really good!

you really feel to be under water,  good job!

It's amazing how much of a difference a simply wavy shader can make! I did unfortunately get stuck in a wall a little southeast of Terry, and I never really figured out how the bandages work - every time I used one, nothing seemed to happen. Everything felt quite cinematic, which was great to see, especially in a game jam. I saw Tanaka's downfall coming, but it was still surprising how smooth and dramatic it was. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yeah,  before the waviness, even the bubbles didn't give it the feel I was hoping for. I'll check out that area.  I wouldn't be surprised if there's some terrain that isn't up to snuff in some areas.

I probably should have clarified that the bandages are specifically for bleeding, but they don't restore health. Though in hindsight, it probably would have been nice for a little bump in health with those.
Thanks so much for your feedback. This was my first time trying to create in-game events like this and really made me appreciate the amount of time it takes to script events in full-sized games.

Fantastic effort.  When can we expect the full release? =D

Developer

Thanks! I'm still working out the "Final showdown", but there's still a few oddities to work out. Also very tempted to expand on this and turn it into something larger.

Submitted

Keep the momentum going and go for it!

First underwater game I've played so far! awesome work! It was a compelling game and I was able to get all the way to end with finding the spear gun. Looking forward to the final showdown!
Keep up the great work!

Developer

Thanks a lot. Ended up working on a lot of optimizations this week instead of fixing up the ending because there are definitely areas that can chug. Every day it gets a little smoother.

nice underwater game.

Submitted

Liked the environment and the sounds and motion suited the underwater theme, different take on the jam theme to most of the games I've seen so far too!

Developer

Thank you! I tend to focus too much on atmosphere, so I'm glad it's paying off

Nice game with good polished graphics and controls. Good job!

Submitted

Great job with the game. You got so much done in the ten days by yourself! It was very atmospheric and I did have a sense of fear whenever I spotted a shark. Haha.

Developer

Thanks a lot! I think I became a little too addicted to making this one at the cost of some sleep. I do think I need to tweak some of the shark AI. Seems like sometimes they don't notice you, but sometimes they find you a little too easily!

Really nice entry! It truly makes you feel like you are underwater. Awesome work!

This was fun loved seeing good story and audio. I thought the picking up and dropping keyboard could be the same button instead of F and Space.

Developer

Appreciate that. I think you're right about the button choice. I was originally going to have it so that you could drop items with F to make room for other items, but that was all forgotten once I just made it so that picking something up when your full drops the current item.

Submitted

This is a very good submission! Going to beat this game after the game jam. 10/10

Developer

Thanks!
