Loved the little characters & their animations - you have an awesome art style. Felt very cohesive overall. Appreciated something a little more comedic & story driven. Only note would be that the reset could be a little simpler to do. Thanks for creating this :)

Ah, that's a good point. Probably could build out some more UI in general, so everything doesn't have to be done from the menu. Not something I'd thought about, but definitely adding it to the list of things for the post-jam update!
Thanks for taking the time to play! Glad I could break things up a bit with the humor and story.
I really want to give this game a try because it looks like it's my style but when I load it up and press "Continue" I get stuck in the menu and can't do anything :"(
That's no good. I'll have to take a look at it today. Thanks for letting me know!
In the meantime, I can say with some certainty that it sounds like an issue with the save system, as it should say "Start" when you first play, not "Continue." If you go into the settings, does it offer you to delete your save? If it offers for you to delete, maybe try clicking that and running again. Might be a quick and dirty fix to whatever you're experiencing, in case I'm not able to figure what's actually going on with any sort of speediness.
Sorry for the inconvenience. Best case scenario, I'll figure what you've got going on pretty quick and upload a fixed version (I believe this is allowed by jam rules).
So glad you could get it working! I think it must have created a save on the menu, so clicking continue was just loading you back to the menu. I haven't been able to figure why it would do that yet, but hopefully I'll be able to get it fixed. How I'm doing the saves right now is pretty messy anyway.
Thanks so much for playing (even after some issues)! Can't believe it'd get described as a work of art, but hey, I'm not gonna argue, haha.
Bravo! Very very fun and clever and dangit I still can't get a couple of these but I am going to keep trying lol. You did a great job here and the story and art work quite well together. And the music was a great choice.
Funny and fun to play around with. Such a simple idea but the absurdity and the illustrations make it work. I only managed three achievements, but I think an expanded version of this with more to explore and more weird branches to go down could do quite well. I couldn't tell if or when the two dimensions were affecting each other, and focusing on that aspect (not necessarily making it more obvious!) feels like it has a lot of space to grow. Was this made in Twine, by any chance?
The more I worked on this, the more I worried that the fact that the dimensions do have ways of effecting each other got lost. In an expanded version (in the works now!), I definitely agree that should be a bigger focus. It was kinda sorta the original idea of the game after all, haha.
And yeah, this was made in Twine. It's my second time using it, and I freaking love it so much. Been working on a much larger game with Twine for a little while now as well.
Thanks for taking the time to play! Appreciate the feedback!
I think it's awesome, but it definitely gets tangled up pretty quick in my experience. Still trying to figure the best way to organize things. My first game I made with it I shoved pretty much all text into an object, had a total of like four passages that were actually where the game happened, and just switched out the text in those passages based on variables matching up with the object's keys . It was a mess, but it was honestly an easier way of getting into it for me because I basically made it work closer to what I was used to (Python and Pygame) and didn't have to wade through pools of passages, haha.
Really funny story -- well done making the different paths and keeping some consistent art work through.
There's a really nice surreal quality to this game which I enjoyed. In some sense, you make your own meaning out of what is going on, until the end, when there is a pleasant surprise. Great work and thanks for sharing!
I think I played this submission the most so far, really fun scenario!
I could do almost all except the first 2 and the microwave secret ending. I'll try a bit more.
Good job!
Ooh, it's so nice to hear that this was able to draw you in enough to stick with it. How you've done with the achievements is honestly pretty impressive to me! I personally thought quite a few of them were pretty difficult, especially because some rely on randomness, which probably isn't the best design, especially for a jam (oops). Thanks for taking the time to play!
Pretty nice game, liked the back and forth option to switch between characters. :)
Great job!
Yeah, I was... well... back and forth about the back and forth mechanic. Obviously, it is conceptually where the whole game stemmed from, but I kept playing around with exactly how it worked. Ended up keeping it as simple as it could be, which I think for the sake of the jam was probably a good call. Might mess around with it more if I do end up expanding on this though; I think I agree with you in that the flipping mechanic is ultimately what interests me the most here.
My rambling aside, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing!
This is a 5/5 game for me. the music and the art style was great. Goes to show how little you need to create a coherent and enjoyable experience. You itch page and the game also go hand in hand which I really liked. Would be interested how you did it :D
in one dimension I electrocuted myself and in the other I waited forever. Feels about right
The itch page was actually like that before the game; it's a style I've been messing with for quite a well now, and I actually have a larger game in development that will make use of that style too. All I do is draw little guys or appliances or doodles or whatever, then draw them again, then combine the two drawings into a gif. I like it because it's am easy way to give my (admittedly simple and arguably childish) drawings some movement and life.
Glad I could help you reach your full electrocuting yourself and waiting forever potential! Thanks for playing!
Cool text adventure game, this type of game always suprises me, providing so many interesting and unexpected results for different choices, nice done.
For this particular game, I had a lot of fun coming up with the unexpectedness and surprises, making many of them exceptionally ridiculous. I feel like it's a fine line between feeling random and cheap and feeling fun and still satisfying when doing things like that, so I'm happy it seemed to be the latter for you. Thanks for taking the time to play!
I always love a wacky choose-your-own-adventure game! The music was a good choice, and the art was very nice.
great idea and some really cool implementation - especially the complementing art work of both dimensions. it is a tad bit frustrating to start over and over again without really getting to experience the interconnectivity of both worlds as payoff(I only managed to get the first 2 achievements after 6 tries ;-( ) , but that's a fine-tuning issue - the concept itself is great.
Yeah, some of the achievements are actually quite difficult to get. It probably would have made more sense to focus on fleshing out the interconnectedness as the core mechanic for the sake of the jam, but instead I crammed in a bunch of content because I was having fun writing (oops).
Good feedback! I think it's likely I will be fine-tuning this concept a bit post-jam actually, so I really appreciate it...
Thanks for taking the time to play!
Really enjoyed this! Simple and has so much personality!
Was finally able to do both after dying a lot. The solution was a funny twist after...everything.
The music was really good! I went through it a few times. The story lines went in crazy directions. I thought it was fun to see how things would end up. I kept dying with the microwave though :(
Music was not me; it was made by Steven O'Brien. (I highly recommend checking out his stuff, all free as long as you credit him, and some of it is really strange and cool!)
I was going for craziness, so I'm glad that came through. And yes, I probably should have said that, if possible of course, multiple playthroughs are recommended! Anyway, thanks so much for taking the time to play!
