Nice game, I really like the idea! However, enemies respawning after being eaten kind of ruined the immersion for me. Also, controls for keyboards are a little clunky, sometimes it was hard to find the right angle to eat the corpses. Good game overall, congratulations! :)

Great art style and really fun mechanics! Love the progression system. Really well done submission!

Love the art style, really fun game

The combat was pretty simple, wish there was one more action like block or some skill as the combat is just standing and attacking. But overall, fun game and nice voxel art.

nice, I enjoyed it. it is only slightly difficult to fight

Fun game, growing your character is definitely addicting. It was tricky to align the character for combat and eating, but the overall game was fun.

I remember my days of playing Spore from this game. I love starting out small and climbing slowly up the food chain. The controls were a little clunky but not bad enough to put me off from it. I can understand due to the nature of the game jam and the time constraints. Overall this was a great idea that I hope you will expand upon some more. There's so much you can do with it such as more mechanics, abilities of some kind, and better combat/fighting. Overall nice game, good concept. Thank you for sharing :)

Nice take on Feeding Frenzy. Death is only the beginning for your victims, as  their nutrients strengthen you!

I enjoyed the idea of having a dungeon with different variants of enemy species, and a boss for each one.

A bit on the easy side, but a good start.

Felt tricky to align the character to attack, and character locks in place animation when attacking or being hit (this last one has a long recover). But these things feel like they can be improved upon on future versions or games.

A minor exploit: I got the character at an angle that allowed me to spam the eat command on a spider, making me kill and eat it while never being hit.

Good work and good luck!

I escaped the dungeon, I'm free to take on the world and I enjoyed every second of it!
Love the art style and the music!
You did a fantastic job and I can't wait to see more from you!!!!

Please consider also rating and reviewing my game when you have a moment to spare!

I would appreciate the opportunity to grow and improve based on your feedback.

I had to play this... being a former EQ1 player, corpse runs were the big thing :-) And now even being a rat ... and then a spiderling... very nice. I have no clue if that was the intention, but I had fun. Thanks for the game.

Nice game.

It would be nice if when dying you are allowed to possess other creatures. Like the smallest spiders, and the smallest capsules. :)

Fun

Actually pretty fun. Eating to grow bigger is a tried and true progression system. I wish it did something novel, but I can't argue that the game was enjoyable.

Aesthetics

The voxel art is really nice, and I would love to the the entire game in this style. The font needs work, the scratch particle system should match the voxel art,  and posting text on walls isn't a great look.

The animations are nice.

It definitely seems like a prototype art style. Picking one style would be a good idea.

Music

Music is ok. I wouldn't use it in any finished product. There are better free music assets.

Sound

Bit grating. Especially the mouse squeak. Perhaps lower the volume and pitch.

Mechanics

The movement felt smooth. The hitboxes on attacks need some work.

The growing and eating mechanic was fun. Wasn't a new idea by any means but it seemed well done.

The possession at the start felt unnecessary. It felt like it was added only to make the game fit the theme.

Story

You need to eat to grow, so you can eat the dungeon bosses. Not much of a story otherwise, but it somewhat makes sense.

Theme

Really not a theme here. You are a rat that eats things. It is a bit of a stretch to say this qualifies as "death is only the beginning".

If the possession mechanic was the intended way to meet the theme, more of the game needs to focus on it. Have 10 seconds at the start where you are a ghost isn't a good fit. That's like asking for a taco and only getting a tortilla.

Best game 10/10 I didn't expect to be a rat today but now I feel great. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. I will treasure this my whole life. I am now a Dire Rat.

I do greatly enjoy the voxel style, nice work!

Good job! Mechanics were a little difficult for me, but the game has a cool vibe. I especially liked the models of the rat and spiders.

There's a lot I like about this, especially the art style, but I wish I could rotate the camera angle.

From my personal taste I only like the level up system here, but I don't like the pace of attack. Well it's understanble when you see it as rogue-like dungeon crawler. Good job.

Nice idea to grow from eating enemys. The controls are a bit slow and it’s hard to hit enemies if they are much smaller. Probably could need some aim assistance which allows always looking at the focused enemy.
