Excellent game! Reminds me of when pinball games were a big thing!

I loved the sounds! This was a great pinball experience, awesome job! Just like every pinball game I've ever played, there's that moment when you launch the ball, it bounces all over the place.... and goes exactly through the middle of the flippers where you can't reach it XD

Wow, really great job on the pinball mechanics. On a scale of 1 to 10, how tricky was this to get working with Unity physics? This felt really solid and seems like a really fun project to emulate. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Its not that tricky code-wise , but its a lot of playing with settings and playtesting to make it feel right.

Also here is a hint: you don't use Y axis gravity,  you keep the table flat and use X-axis gravity, in Unity you can have gravity in either the X, Y or Z direction. Also the big lesson was to not put rigidbodies on most things, only the objects that are not static, rigidbodies on static objects caused the ball to go straight through them and it was a Eureka moment when I worked that out and stopped having balls flying out of the table.

cheers

Very "NOICE" to see a pinball game in here! I'm a big fan of digital pinball (Pinball Dreams Trilogy, Pokemon Pinball, the Crush games, et all), so I had a lot of fun with this one! I was surprised that there was more than one table, too, and I managed to spell Australia a few times. ;) Great work.

Developer(+1)

Awesome, thank you :)

Was nice to see a pinball game! The bumpers reacted nicely which was great to see. I found the whole spelling out death to progress a little to direct in terms of trying to fit the the theme into the game. To me it didn't match up with the story.
But these are nitpicky things and for 10 days you two did a great pinball game! Good job.

Developer

I agree I could have tied the spelling Death to the story a lot better, cheers.

Pinball is life! Loved it!

The pinball parlour is back. Woohoo. A bit more sfx is about all I can suggest.

Congrats

Developer

Thanks :)

Awesome pin ball game. The ball physics feels great and the sfx sounds crisps.  One feedback I would give is that, the game has very few sfx. More sfx (and music possibly) would make the game feel more arcadey if that's the route you would wana go.
Overall great job, especially on the feel of the game.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, yeh more sfx has come up a few times, I'll be adding that to my next version :)
Different music per level is a goal too.

Yeh I really focused on making the mechanics feel right, glad you think I nailed that.
cheers

Very cool. I watched Metalstorm play in the stream and now i played it as well. Flippers feel a bit sluggish at times but could just be on my side. Everything is good. Maybe some more sounds like those bell ringing sounds you get when you hit a jackpot etc but awesome game. Well done.

Developer

Thanks, there is a downloadable version now that may feel less sluggish.
Yeh will definitely add sounds (and more camera shake like Metal suggested).

Submitted(+1)

way to go to mix things up!
that was really a solid pinball experience and the aussie voice over was hilarious.
did you use unity's physics system or did you have create your own? because it works quite well.

oh wait... I can just download the source and see for myself ;-)

Developer

That is all Unity physics mate.

noice!

Good job! I really liked it!

It brings some nostalgic memory of my childhood

Submitted(+1)

Honestly wasnt expecting to play a pinball game again for a long time, thank you for the nostalgia.

Great game, loved it, I wish the ball was a little bigger as then collisions between things would have been a touch easier. I only got to the second level but honestly, I will likely play this again with my dad as a reference to our younger pinball games when I was a child.

Thanks and cant wait to play more!

Developer(+1)

There are only two levels at the moment mate, but level 2 has extra ball and up to 5X multipliers.

My wife said the ball should be bigger too but it was late in the jam and could mess things up, so I decided to wait until post-jam.
Just the idea of someone playing this with their dad makes me so happy (your dad is probably my age lol).
I hope he likes it as well :)

Really good implementation of a pinball game with bonuses and all.

Great job

Pretty good pinball game! The story/theme is very funny, and I loved the little voice clips. I did run into some issues however, for some reason, my high score was 2 less than my actual score? And at one point the ball clipped through the paddle, which of course isn't ideal for a pinball game. But those were pretty minor issues. Don't sweat it. Overall a really fun game! Good job :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks, yep both of those are on my "fix after the jam" list and shouldn't be too hard to fix, I'm just not a fan of pulling things apart during ratings.
There are two sets of paddles, my original rectangle ones, and the ones the artist gave me at the last minute, but as highlander would say, there should be only one ...
And yeh I need to check at what point I display the high score and compare it to the score and see why it sneaks in two more points (I think its the dead zone collider having a score).

Glad you had fun.

Man, this game takes me back. I have not played a game of pinball since Space Cadet. I really enjoyed my time with this though. It's pretty solid and I never really felt like I was cheated. I'm absolutely no good at it but it's still great nonetheless. Excellent work guys!

Developer(+1)

Thanks :)

Solid pinball game there my dude!

I played and rated this much earlier, but my feed said that I needed to rate this game. I could have sworn I put a comment here but maybe I forgot to save it.  Anyways, the game was really fun, I love the voice acting used for the game. It added a lot to it in my opinion. The ability to shake the machine was something I didn't realize until later, but it made things even better. I never really played any pinball games, but this one is really fun :)

Developer

Thanks, yeh itch does have a habit of losing things sometimes, if I rate and then comment it doesn't save the rate *shrugs*

On a jam earlier this year I worked with someone who is good at Audacity, so I said what the hell and had a play with it this time, really happy I did even though hearing my own voice isn't pleasing (hence playing with pitch for things like "Noice").

I'm making pinball cool again ;)

Nice! This is the first pinball game jam entry I've ever seen.

It was fun, and and a very good pinball experience. I appreciate having an objective to work towards, rather than just a high score (but that's nice to have too)!

The music was great, and fit the theme well, adding to the enjoyment.

I think I, too, had some issues with the ball clipping through flippers at times. It would have been nice to be able to restart from the second table to help with that, but I appreciate that you were trying to stick to the theme.

Very nice entry, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I've just created a downloadable version that may solve the clipping issue, if not then I'll do some more work on it post-jam.

cheers

Hard to argue with a well-working pinball game! Great fun! My only real critique is that the menu could use some work, specifically for various aspect ratios as I use ultrawides.

Developer(+1)

Aah interesting, ok I'll give that some focus after the jam, I'll google how to cater for ultrawide monitors in UI design, cheers.

Submitted(+1)

I might have said that wrong actually. You can set it up so that it doesn't smoosh all the stuff together and overlap it in small view of the webgl window. You can actually set it up for a larger webgl window. but i ran into a lot of issues with game jam games due to using an ultrawide too, hence my previous comment.

Developer(+1)

ok cool, its still something I need to get right either way
