Its a nicely done game but you don't just want to hear that, you probably also want some improvement suggestions:
- fullscreen wasn't really fullscreen, I'd like the puzzle to take up more of the screen
- please show what level you are on with a label (or a name) i.e. Level 3 or Under Smith Street
- please show the bandaids you have collected as an inventory item, even a simple one with a picture of the bandaid and a number next to it
Overall its a great puzzle game but there are minor things to improve post-jam if you want to.
cheers
Right on! Thanks for the feedback! It's nice to know I was on the right track as your suggestions on gameplay were some of my polish items that didn't make it into the submission. The fullscreen issue sounds like a bug though, so I'll have to keep it in mind for next time! Thanks again :D
Nicely designed, not too long, not too short. Puzzles weren't too hard but did require some thought and the mechanics were implemented well.
My only criticism is the collider on the fish is a little too big for the pipes so sometimes you can't get up and down and it can interfere with the puzzle solving when it seems like you can't get somewhere that you should be able to
Thank you for playing and checking out the game. Yes, there were a few quality-of-life issues with those colliders, it seems. :)
Beautiful puzzle game!! I love it!
Perhaps, the vertical tubes are a little narrow, and sometimes it is a little difficult to "swim" there. Even so, a very good entry! Congratulations!
Thank you! Yes there was some issues with those colliders :)
For some reason fullscreen-mode didn't zoom for me, but that's possibly something with my browser...
Moving around corners at some points wasn't completely smooth (as in; I had to move another pixel or so, to fit into the side pipe), but not too badly.
It seemed one could select which one of the fishes would be flushed, but maybe I'm imagining things.
Very nice puzzles with increasing number of mechanics. Good thing one could get more than one patch for the damaged pipe bits, otherwise there would have been some unnecessary extra backtracking needed... :)
Yes, there is a quality-of-life bug with the movement in pipes.
Yes, you CAN choose a different fish. Each fish has a unique sprite in-game.
Thank you for the kind feedback on the mechanics. Glad you enjoyed the game :)
Aww poor fishy! Fantastic job, very nice game. One of my favourites of the jam! The gradual introduction of new mechanics and the difficulty curve felt just right. The music and sound really helped convey the story and feeling. I had grown attached to Herbert by the end (that's what I named him). Congrats and well done on the submission 😎
Herbert and I are really glad you played! Thank you for your kind comments.
This game was simple and straightforward, but very well-made. You're a fish in a tank and you just died. You just got flushed into the toilet and are now on a journey to find your final resting place. The puzzles are relatively simple, and the levels, while increasing in complexity, don't really ramp up the challenge too much. However, I think it's perfect for the story the game is trying to tell. The music enhances the mood really well. I'm sad for the fish, but I'm happy in the end it was able to come back home to rest for the final time. No fish deserves to rot in sewers and trash. Thanks for this game. It made me sad and made me smile :)
Thanks for playing and for the review! :D The music was an important part for our designer so I'm glad you enjoyed the choice.
Nice job submiting.
I didn't understand the first part where a fish died lol
It's like a character selection screen?
Congrats!
Yes! That is exactly it. It was an attempt to catch the player by surprise and hopefully get a chuckle. Thanks for playing :)
When the intro switches to looking at the pipe underground, the game doesn't seem to start. It just hangs there and plays the music. If you fix this, let me know and I'll drop a rating! I like where I *think* the concept was going but as I said the game wasn't working for me.
That's strange to hear! This is the first I've heard of the bug. Could you let me know...
1) What fish you chose
2) If you see the skeleton fish on underground scene
3) What happens when you press down on the arrow keys (not wasd keys)
Thanks!
That could be because you tried to use WASD instead of arrows keys (I did that too).
Perhaps add WASD as well?
This is a good idea and something I will look at in my future games. :D
Fun game! I like the puzzle aspect
Right on! Thanks so much for taking the time to play :)
I found this a very fun and unexpectedly emotional game.
The mechanics you have laid out here are concise and well executed which makes the experience a lot of fun to play. The sound and music really compliment the story you're telling here too; I found myself getting weirdly attached to my dead fish which is something I didn't expect to happen going in, but was a really welcome experience!
During that final cutscene I felt a weird mix of happy and sad, so I'm really impressed you managed to capture a feeling like this in such a short amount of time. Really great work!
This is such a wonderful response. I am really happy you enjoyed the game! Thank you so much for your kind words.
I really loved the music at the end. The game was just the right amount of fun and puzzle. Well made! There was a bug somewhere I encountered on the first run where the value kept turning after I passed it and it locked me in. You really should add a Restart button just incase of some unforeseen issue. Would just keep someone from having to start all over. Great Job!
Right on! Thanks for the feedback. Yes, a simple restart button is a good idea.
Great small puzzle game! I really liked that we can choose which fish we want to be, it was a very nice touch. The ending was great as well, all around a fun game. Great job guys!
Thank you very much for playing!
what an enjoyable story behind the puzzles. I did have to refresh. I plopped a lever and kept moving. locked myself in. I wish i remembered which level it was exactly, it was a little after the bandaids were introduced.
Thanks! I thought I got all of those.
Though it had a bit too much backtracking to my liking, I can say it's still a cute game and it even added to the experience somewhat.
Appreciate the feedback, Don!
Congrats on submitting!!
I over all liked the game. Looked as if the crabs were going to eat him at the end lol.
i did have an issue with going down into the pipes... maybe the collision was hanging up on the corners.
Thanks! Yes, there was a bit of confusing collisions there. Thank you for playing :D
Nice puzzler!
Thanks, Astrydax :)
