Jam Judge(+1)

Card games are one of my favorite genres, and this one particularly stands out with its fantastic music and art! I love the concept of using the goddess Ma'at as part of the game's strategy, maintaining a balanced scale throughout gameplay. The integration of Egyptian mythology into the mechanics feels both thematic and engaging.

The tutorial is well-designed and effectively invites you to play once completed. The balance mechanics create an interesting strategic layer where you must carefully consider each card's effect on both the small scales (for multipliers) and the large scale (to avoid instant defeat).

I would appreciate some way to increase my character's health, as I find that after advancing through several rounds, I've often lost too much health and end up losing the match inevitably. This could add more sustainability to longer play sessions.

It would also be interesting if they added other Egyptian gods to fight against us as boss battles or special encounters, expanding on the mythological theme.

Overall, the game is excellent, with great music and outstanding artistic design. The balance-focused gameplay creates a unique twist on traditional card battlers that feels fresh and engaging.

Developer

Thank you so much for the thoughtful and encouraging review — it means a lot coming from the Phaser Studio team! 🙌

I’m thrilled you enjoyed the balance mechanics and the Ma’at theme; Egyptian mythology was a big inspiration, so I’m really happy it came through in both concept and gameplay.

Totally hear you on the need for more health recovery and ways to support longer runs — it’s a great suggestion, and something I’d love to explore in future iterations. Maybe through new effect cards or other collectible items to add more layers of strategy and depth to the game.

And yes — adding more Egyptian gods as bosses or special events is definitely something on my dream list!!

Thanks again for playing and for such an insightful review — I truly appreciate it!

Really fun game. It’s hard to keep your balance — you can lose four turns in a row.

You really have to think carefully to make the right combos.

The art is magnificent.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! 🙌

Balancing everything to make right combos is exact the experience I want to create! Super happy to hear that. Really appreciate the kind words about the art too!

Damn that was a really cool game

it would be cool if you die you can restart the last level

Developer

Thanks!! 😄

I was aiming for a roguelike feel, but yeah — a level restart option could be a nice QoL feature. Might explore it in the future! Thanks for suggestion.

Overall, great job on the game! The game feels very polished, and the art is fantastic. I really liked the animations and how you jump right into the tutorial for the player.

Developer

Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed it — especially the art and tutorial!

I love that you have a README and License file (main criteria for open source category).

Cute graphics! Love the intro; really appreciate when people put effort into the narrative. The music is really cool and the whole game concept is great. Very satisfying getting the right combos, and the music is so catchy that I want to keep playing. The "balanced" battle cries are great "YOU ARE JUDGED!". Love it. Nice work. Would love to see more cards implemented in future. The idea of the four counters (power, defense, short, and dust) are creative and fun. Intuitive came that's addictive.

Developer

Thank you so much for the amazing feedback! 🙏

I’m really glad you enjoyed the details — especially the intro and the card/narrative elements. Super happy to hear "YOU ARE JUDGED!" landed well 😄.

More cards are definitely something I’d love to add if I continue working on this in the future!! Really appreciate you taking the time to play and write such thoughtful comments. It means a lot!

Wow, this is a very cool and polished game. I really like your art style! This game looks amazing and also feels amazing. How these balances move feels so satisfying and the tutorial is also very good! Maybe the gameplay could need a bit more variety, as after a while you just play almost all the cards without thinking about it. Of course the balance mechanic added some thinking, but maybe it needs another mechanic. One small detail which I would also change is the indication what the influence of a certain card on the balance is. At the moment the colors indication which balance it affects and the text indicates which side. I would change that around. The text (and the position on the card) tells you which balance it affects and then you have a color for the left or right side. I think this way you get a faster overview of your hand and can plan the strategy.

Congratulations to a very cool entry, especially the looks are perfect!

Developer

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback—and all the kind words! 😊

I’m really happy to hear you enjoyed the visuals, tutorial, and especially how the balance mechanic feels.

You’re totally right about the gameplay variety. I had originally planned to add more card effects (like quicksand, bleed, burn, crit, etc.), but I sadly ran out of time near the end. 😅 Definitely something I want to explore further if I keep developing the game.

Also, your suggestion about switching the role of color and text on the cards is really interesting! I hadn’t thought of it that way, but it actually makes a lot of sense from a quick-scanning/UX perspective. I’ll be thinking more about that—thanks again!!

The type of game jam submission that you would never guess it is, in fact, a game jam submission.

The take on the theme is very creative and nicely executed, the graphics are pleasant to look at... there really isn't anything overly negative to say about this game.

Developer

Wow, thank you so much! That’s such a huge compliment 🥹

I’m really glad the theme execution and visuals landed well. I was definitely racing the clock the whole time 😅 but super happy it paid off!

Very nice game with a top-notch implementation. I did feel at times that the cards where a bit unbalanced overall and I had trouble unleashing my balance-attacks, but it felt really rewarding when i managed it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! I’m really glad you enjoyed it 😊 That is definitely the experience I want to bring to the players! I'm happy to hear it felt rewarding when it worked!

Huge thanks for playing and sharing it on X!

Hearing you'd want to play it on an airplane trip is honestly the highest praise! No concrete plans for an iPhone version at the moment, but it’s definitely something I’ll keep in mind. Would love to make it portable one day :D

I liked the game very much, especially the graphics, the innovative game idea, and the music that matches the game. Well done, great work!

I'd really appreciate it if you could try out my game too, rate it, and share your feedback. It would mean a lot!

Developer

Thanks! Glad to hear you like the graphics, the idea and the music!

I loved your implementation of balance so much! It is made so beautifully with lots of love, the art style is so cute and the turn base combat is so fun and intelligent. The music is also perfect. Absolutely fantastic job and a beautifully made game! 🥰

Developer

Wow, thank you so much!

I'm so glad the balance mechanic, the art, and the turn-based combat all resonated with you. Hearing this kind of feedback is incredibly rewarding! And I’m especially happy you noticed the music—it’s a soft spot of mine.

Thanks for playing! From the screenshot, it looks like you might’ve made it close to the final stage—congrats 🎉

Cool game!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you thought it was cool 😎

Incredible what you have done in so little time ! The game is really fun, the balance mechanic added to the traditional TCG gameplay adds a depth that is much appreciatied !

Developer

Thank you so much! I wanted to keep the core card gameplay but add a twist that encourages players to think differently! And the balance mechanic felt like the right fit. Super glad it added depth and made the experience more fun for you!

Submitted(+1)

Simply wow! the art is amazing, the idea of the game is awesome! you have to plan your actions and don't lean too much on certain actions and keep a balanced playstyle, you are hugely rearded by doing so, and also punished if you don't, so it is very clear that you should follow the rules of the game.
I honestly see a lot of room for improvement here and I would like to see this developed into a full game, really well done!

Developer(+1)

Wow, thank you so much! I’m really glad the balance-focused design came through clearly—that was a big part of what I wanted to get right! I wanted players to feel rewarded for thinking ahead, and punished for overcommitting.

There’s definitely a lot of room to expand, and hearing you'd like to see a full version really motivates me. I actually planned to add some card effects during the jam, but ran out of time in the end 😅 I'll definitely consider making a full version after the jam! Thanks again for playing and leaving such thoughtful feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Something really cool would be either to undo your previous action, or to plan out your turn before commiting it, something like tactical breach wizard idk if you know about that game

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the suggestion! I haven’t played Tactical Breach Wizards myself, but from your description I get the idea—and it sounds really cool. There was actually a game with a similar mechanic in last year’s Gamedev.js Jam too!

I can totally imagine a version where you plan all your actions, then commit and watch the turn play out like a mini battle—it’d add a whole new layer of strategy! Definitely something I’d love to explore further. Thank you!

Nice game! Loved the tutorial and the clear onboarding. It's rare in game jam games :)

Really liked the myth you used as well ;)

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for the kind words! 🙏

I’m really glad you liked the tutorial and onboarding. Since the game mechanics are a bit complex, I felt a solid tutorial would help ease players in without overwhelming them. Super happy it worked out!

And yeah, I’m glad we both picked that myth!! 😄

Submitted(+1)

The tutorial and UI are well done, you immediately understand the game mechanics. Nice.

Developer

Thanks so much! I’m glad the tutorial and UI helped get the mechanics across quickly. I really wanted to make it as intuitive as possible, so it’s great to hear that worked! 😊
