Absolutely amazing! I love RPG claw machine crawlers and this one is adding more sauce to it! If you see smoke accumulating, drop your keyboard and run away ... BOOOM!

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind feedback — and for Phaser! The library is amazing. I love how you guys keep developing and improving it.

You mentioned that you love RPG claw machine crawlers — can you recommend a few?

Nice concept! I really like your art style and background music—they give the whole game a light and pleasant atmosphere. It’s also very cool that the crafted items change based on the ingredients used.

If you’re looking to expand the experience, perhaps the balance aspect could be brought out a little more, and making ingredient collection just a bit more challenging or dynamic might add some extra fun! Just some thoughts—great work overall!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! We are definitely thinking of making the crafting more fun and dynamic

Very nice looking game with beautiful music. I see in your description, that you have quite some plans to add more features. I agree that a bit more engaging gameplay is needed to make it a full game experience. This is a very good start and I like that it is already very polished. Now just some more content is needed :).

Congratulations to this game! Keep working on it!

Developer

Thank you very much for your kind feedback!

I love that you have a README and License file (main criteria for open source category.

If you have time soon, definitely implement the on screen controls. The artwork is great, the music and sound effects tie in nicely with the game. You thought about how to build something fun and creative to the theme. The physics works well, and I like the idea of having the cauldron and the intake. Very fun, very addictive. Nice work.

Thank you for good feedback! We are thinking of developing it into a full game after the jam ends and better onboarding and on-screen controls is definitely in our roadmap

I love these open-sandbox, cozy type of games. The whimsical art style is amazing and it goes well with the background music, reminding me to use more flute in my games music. I missed how the "balance" theme was applied though. The green line was static for both containers so I didn't really feel the need to balance anything. Maybe I didn't get far enough in the game?

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, the balance theme maybe is not very obvious in our game as we hadn't had enough time to implement everything we thought of. Even the green lines in the containers have to change depending on a chosen recipe in our initial idea

But overall in this game we assumed a player has to balance between:

  • Burning junk in the Furnace to heat up the Cauldron
  • Using junk in the Cauldron to craft new loot from it
  • Keeping junk in the Pile for the next recipe

I had some trouble in the beginning it was not clear that you had to press enter to start crafting and I had to check the description (maybe add an in-game tutorial?) but I get it it is a Jam game so you will probably update it further after the jam ends :D
it reminded me of Jacksmith, even if quite different it has the same vibes, nostalgia hits hard :')

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, unfortunately we had not had enough time to implement in-game onboarding. We spent too much time on thinking of the idea.

Thanks for the Jacksmith mention. I actually didn't know this game. I see a Jacksmith Steam version is coming soon https://store.steampowered.com/app/3580580/Jacksmith_Weapons_and_Warriors/
I will check it out as it seems to be a good reference for our game

I was stunned by the graphics, the sound design and the music ! The game looks really good and it was very nice to play a claw game like this ^^ A better onboarding and a bit more diversity would be welcome, but it has a whole lot of charm !

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, unfortunately we had not had enough time to implement in-game onboarding. We spent too much time on thinking of the idea #_#

This has the potential to be a really good game.  A good jam submission that can be developed further afterwards!  Good job!
