  • The cutest art ever!! I love this idea, though it wasn't the most fun standing and waiting for your timer haha while standing in one place to plot forth on a level. Super cool idea though and executed very polished!
  • Insanely fun and such a unique take on the theme, I love it! Visually really great too :)
  • Really clever and interesting mechanic. Made for some good puzzles! Also very polished art
  • The game feels really polished and well made, and I think the concept is really smart. I think there is some room to polish the level design as it did feel fairly easy to abuse the echo mechanic to brute force the levels, and I definitely beat some levels without knowing the proper solution. But other than that, I don’t have much to say, nice work!

How does the game fit into the theme?
EchoSqueak is a time manipulation game where the player never goes back in time, Guide a lab rat through a dangerous lab using echoes of your past to move forward 🐀✨

I tried to do something different with the theme so I made a time manipulation game where you never actually go back in time. The echoes always retrace your steps moving foward in time and allowing you to progress.

What premade assets did you use if any?
Music and Sound Effects, I used royalty-free music from Abstraction, which I plan to replace in the future

Really great gameplay, but I don't see how it fits the theme so (might just be me). Really nice art style and core mechanic and great level design that expands upon that mechanic.

10/10 gameplay I just wish the theme was taken more into account. Great job regardless!

Everything was perfect, nothing much to add. The core mechanic is quite creative and the levels were really clever. Presentation is also good, looks super well polished. Excellent job on this entry!

Love the game!

Some people said they got stuck in the level with the button that activates spikes, and I was too, for a little while, but it is possible, guys!!! Just give it a few minutes of thinking, and you'll get it. It is the challenge the level is supposed to be, right on ;)

Loved the creative interpretation on the theme and your execution was amazing. Loved the puzzles, especially the last level mechanic was a really nice pinnacle to the whole sequence of levels.

Don’t really have anything to add other than I think you have a wonderful foundation to build upon if you wanted to carry it further. Graphics, audio, puzzles, everything felt really good to me!

Thank you so much!!!

The art, gameplay, and music are amazing... the theme is a bit lacking tho. Puzzle games are my favorite, and this handles that quite well, just not sure it resonates with "Keep moving forward". Great job nonetheless!!

This was fun! The theme implementation is debatable but I loved that last little puzzle. Fun, unique mechanic and very polished. Good job!

Very polished game, also very impressive that you made it in 3 days, however, as Lumpy said, I'm not really sure how this fits the theme. But, I could be wrong, just let me know.

Thanks! That’s a fair critique. I knew there would be plenty of games where the character just keeps walking so I thought of a time travel game where you don’t actually go back in time, only forward

The echoes come from the past but always follow the path you took, allowing you to move ahead

Oh right, actually that's a really cool twist on the theme, I take it back. It is a very well made game, 100%

Very, very polished. Short levels which were pretty neat to play through.

Beautiful! The last level almost stumped me – it would be better to introduce the fire things earlier, in a place where it won’t kill you immediately.

There’s a bug too, I’m not sure if it’s your bug or GameMaker’s, but gamepad axes are centering on 0.5 instead of 0.0. Web Gamepad API, they’re always normalized to -1..1, so if one uses a gamepad here, mouse will walk left when the stick is idle.

(or you could sidestep that problem by using the dpad – buttons 12..15 – instead of axis[0]. See https://www.w3.org/TR/gamepad/#remapping )

nice game and cool mechanics!

Pretty cool game, but it doesn't match the theme very well IMO

Nice art style and good mechanics!

Incredible art and a decent game to play through but overall didn't really fit the theme too well as its kind of just a basic platformer and half the time when you're "recording" you just stand still. Still a good game but just doesn't really fit into this jams theme as well as it could.

The last level got me a while to understant but felt super nice realizing what needed to be done, the echos mechanic has so much potential for puzzle solving! the game also looks and feels fantastic! 10/10

Very nice visual, very nice music, very nice particles and shaders. I love everything about the presentation of this game.

For the puzzle mechanics, I'm not completely sure. I'm not sure if it's the way the puzzles are presented or because I'm solving them wrong by waiting a lot for the echoes to wait while I do something else, but it felt like there was a lot of down time. When I got to the first level with A LOT of doors I just couldn't do it, brain went no.

But for everything else, for the polish and for the fact that you guys made this in 3 days... Good job... Seriously!

The graphics and overall presentation are phenomenal and very endearing! The gameplay loop is also fantastically unique and creative while also being easy to grasp. Honestly, EchoSqueak already looks, sounds, plays, and feels like a critically acclaimed indie darling from Steam or Nintendo Switch! I look forward to seeing where you take this project in the future! :D
