  • I can only imagine the game DESIGN that went into this, with having the different wheels, modifiers, etc. and all those values! Very beautiful UI, smart to present it in a simple way when it is a more complex mechanic. Going across the cards is a super cool mechanic you could absolutely apply in a bigger project!
  • Great concept, and the gameplay is really well done. It took me a little bit to fully understand how to play, but I could see myself spending a lot of time on this game. Nice job!
  • I think you have something here. I just wish the QTEs' were more responsive? But there's something really charming and innovative about this submission.

How does the game fit into the theme?
You need to build your skatepark and then ride it but be careful to have enough energy to keep moving forward!

What premade assets did you use if any?
Skateboard sound

Jam Judge(+1)

Hi, I'm hedge one of your judges! Played at https://twitch.tv/hedge_in at 8:51:20 <3 (Part 2)

Interesting game, good roguelike

Submitted(+1)

Had a lot of fun with this! Some of the QTEs (hold) should maybe be a *little* more generous with letting you know when they start, but other than that, there's a lot of potential here!

Hi! I think there was a bug. When I played it the second time, I think I was supposed to lose. After clicking continue twice (successively), I came to this level and couldn't drag the cards onto the play area. (See picture below)

I like the deck building aspect and wished there was more control on the deck. If the instructions were a little bit clearer, it would have been better. It took me a while to realise the mechanics of the button presses required,

Overall it is a neat game and it has good graphics. Well done! :)

SO well done!!

Beautiful presentation, and the gameplay is complex without overwhelming. Bravo!

Submitted(+1)

Wow! just wow! great job!

Developer

Thanks a lot!

This is so creative. I swear some of you are actual wizards!

I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you keep working on it ;)

Developer(+1)

Thank you, that’s really motivating!

Submitted(+1)

This is so good, I think I was just playing it for around an hour, I need more harder levels lol. Seriously everything about this is great, the way the cards move around and slot into position next to each other is perfect its so satisfying. This is a jam favourite for me, great work

Developer

Wow this is an amazing score, good job!

Developer

Thanks! This really means a lot that people play up to an hour on our game!

I'm loving the creativity in this game! Especially the small details like how the background music is a rendition of Sk8erboi, or how it's a deckbuilder with skate decks. Such an interesting concept, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

Excellent interpretation of the theme! I can feel that the game needs more time in the oven to add extra content and QoL features, but for a gamejam it's very solid :) I had to keep retrying until I beat every round

Developer

Thank you! You're the first person I know that beat the last round, good job!

Submitted(+1)

Really fun! I had a lot of difficulty on the grinding segments, but the other segment’s QTEs I was able to do pretty consistently. Loved the graphics and chill vibes of the game. I was able to get decently far, but the score requirements ramped faster than I was able to get good wheel multipliers. I think there is probably a little bit of tweaking there that can be done, but overall this was a really solid game that I had a ton of fun with. Really great job!

Developer

Thank you! The last round is doable but very hard! Probably need a little tweaking as you said.

Submitted(+1)

Looks super polished and well made however I had no idea what I was doing even after multiple attempts, took me a few goes to realise what buttons to press for the QTAs , felt like information overload.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah it definitely needs a better and interactive tutorial explaining the QTEs

Submitted(+1)

Ok actually such a cool concept for a game, maybe I'm biased because I love rogue-like deck builders, but definitely save the idea this could become so cool with some more time. Did you make the music loop as well? figured I'd ask because if so I appreciate the musical reference.

Developer

Thank you!
Yes we were 2 devs on the project and my teammate made the music himself! Did you recognize Avril Lavigne - Skater Boi reference? :D

Submitted(+1)

Sure did! thought I was going insane for a bit but my nostalgia has never let me forget that riff!

Developer

Thanks! I tweaked a bit Avril’s original song to give it a game vibe ;)

Submitted(+1)

Really cool game concept! I liked it alot, took me a couple of rounds to understand it. But when i got the hang of it, i enjoyed it alot.

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

We both thought of making Balatro inspired games lol. Although I ended up branching off the ballet type and more to just a rogue like. Really interesting & polished game tho, even if it’s a little hard to understand.

(+1)

I quite like this game, its simple but it does get repetitive fast for me, I'm easily able to notice the game play loop, may be a me problem from doing game dev but, i think more padding and things to do, maybe little objectives like "complete 3 skate tricks without failing" or "complete 3 tricks of the same colour on the board" just something else for you to also be doing

Otherwise its really good

Submitted (1 edit) (+2)

This game is a *chefs kiss* of  polishment and well development, too bad the gameplay exceeds my IQ but that's on me, anyway, GREAT job right here!

Developer

Thank you! :D

Submitted(+1)

Like the idea! Would have liked have more guidance on the different tricks that need to be done while in certain cards (I still don't understand how to do the rails), but overall I think it's a really nice idea!

Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

The rails is the hardest QTEs but once you master it you can really score a lot of points!

Glad you gave the game a try!

Submitted(+1)

I thought it was a very original and fun idea haha. I think it could be polished further, but overall it's a great job! :D

Developer

Thank you! :D
