  • Really great concept and fun game. The variety is great and keeps the game interesting. The game did feel pretty forgiving in terms of difficulty, mostly because of the hitbox and invincibility frames after being hit. But other than that, I don’t have any complaints. Nice job!
  • The roguelike elements really make this refreshing and more fun.
  • This is a really dope idea you could absolutely expand! The only (opinion) issue I found came from the time between runs being a bit too much vs the actual runtime, even in the later stages. A lot of reading time for the boons, I think adding 2 obstacles was enough to where picking a positive debuff (aka removing the downsides of the boons) could've made it feel like a faster and more satisfying process. Maybe even a timer when putting down your items. Who knows! I really enjoyed this!

How does the game fit into the theme?
Just like the Sisyphean tragedy, you are never permitted to stop racing. You must lap again and again until you are done in by your own hubris.

What premade assets did you use if any?
None

What are the Discord usernames of everyone on your team?
hazelstorm, idolon, patashu, radarhead, kaldhen

Did you use MiniScript for your entry?

No

Did you use Playroom for your entry?

No

Jam Judge(+2)

Hi, I'm hedge one of your judges! Played at https://twitch.tv/hedge_in at 5:11:00 <3 (Part 2)

This game is very cool, I liked the incremental challenges and privileges you need to sacrifice to keep moving forward!

It took me a while to notice the player's hitbox is the heart, so maybe just make a mini car the size of that heart to be the player's hitbox instead? I just found it unintuitive. Or maybe make the car darker so the heart is more prominent?

Nonetheless this game looks like it had a lot of care put into it! Amazing job, very clever and very fun to play!

It's an interesting game, the controls are smooth and uncomplicated, the graphics and sounds are excellent.

I love racing games. However, it would be nice if the player spent more time racing or "driving". Maybe by improving the ratio of driving to choosing track elements, or alternatively simply having Sisyphus still driving in the background while changing the track. Just a couple ideas. Fantastic job making all of that and using no premade assets.

Very fun concept and great execution! That would be so cool to have an online leaderboard to compare score with others!

Love the concept of the games. One of the best use of themes. I also liked the music. If you have time, also check out my game.

Out of all the games from this game jam that I've played so far, this one is probably the best! Extremely well polished, and I love the range of different music tracks. Definitely deserves 5 stars across the board.

i find the concept very well executed. the mechanics come together to provide a natural difficulty curve that slowly snowballs as you are forced to engineer your own destruction. a darker aesthetic could make this game feel positively despair-inducing, if you guys ever decide to revisit/expand this concept.

i like the mechanics in this. its really fun to strategize on where to best place the new obstacles. cool game!
