Judge feedback

Judge feedback is anonymous and shown in a random order.

  • I wish there was a mechanic to control and alter the timing of the jump so that you're not forced into dying when you run into an enemy if that makes sense.
  • Wow, the music and art style for this game are really well done. And the gameplay feels really good and polished. There are some times where the game can feel unfair depending on the number of bullets you have and the position of the enemies, but those moments are outweighed by how good the rest of the game feels to play. Nice work!
  • I loved the visual aesthetic and the mechanics! Simple to learn, hard to master which is perfect. I love that there are checkpoints which makes replayability so much better. I do think that ammo & score coins should be more visually distinct but other than that great game!

How does the game fit into the theme?
In Rouge Revenge, the player will automatically keep moving forward, all you can do is jump and shoot.

What premade assets did you use if any?
Bunch of sound fx and music as I have no skill in this area. Also 2 systems of code as devolping thos on my own from scratch would have taken longer than the jam. See description of project page for more details.

Nice art style and very juicy effects :)

Very good game, the artstyle, sound effects and movement were really good, i was expecting an epic duel for the ending :(

Developer

Yeah something more satisfying for the ending was my intention but time got away from me.  Thanks for the feedback

Very cool art, VERY satisfying sfx (something I can learn from). I do recommend you add some jump buffer frames, but other than that the gameplay felt very polished! Great job!

Loved the aesthetic of this game! Really liked how the UI and art looks. The shooting was quite satisfying.I think the keyboard controls are a bit weird, but I did eventually get used to them. I also noticed that pressing F1 takes you to some debug screen. Overall, good job :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you, for your feed back.  Yeah forgot to disable a few debug things.

Not a bad take on a "runner" style game. I will say though the keyboard controls are terrible but on controller they were great. Nice job.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for your feed back. "I will say though the keyboard controls are terrible" yeah I agree, I completely changed how the shooting worked at the 11th hour and so required a change in controls, tired I didn't choose the best input.  After playing other games I think there's better combination of buttons to use.

i think you should have made this game browser playable. [browser is go_to for jams] i didn't know that on my first jam too, i learned it later.

Developer

Yeah started to realise that already, unfortunately I don't have the Gamemaker license.

Nice!
