How does the game fit the theme?
Story
--------
Luna, the player character, has a beloved dog named Onyx who is dying after being wounded by shadowy entities. In his final moments, she must risk everything by entering a haunted house filled with those same shadows in order to find his favorite biscuits one last time.
Her choice to face danger for her dog’s sake fits the theme “risk it for the biscuit.”
Gameplay Mechanics
---------------------------
In the game, Luna can find human biscuits underneath furniture that will give her more mana to use spells. Sometimes you can put yourself in precarious situations for these mana biscuits.
3 times per night, an optional summoning circle appears in a random room. You can risk rushing to it to acquire new spells and biscuit buffs.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
The tornado effect for the Snare ability used a material done by Mirza Beig.
For audio, we used sound libraries from Atelier Magicae, including Ancient Horrors and Japanese Horror SFX Vol.1.
For code, we used Odin Inspector, DOTween, and GgCore to be more productive.

spooky
like others have said, dropping the furniture is a little clunky, but otherwise neat little game!
Unique, fun and matches the theme quite well. Maybe could've used some more balancing and polish but still really really good. 4,7 / 5
Wow this is really cool and unique take on this theme! I really love the art style and atmosphere even though the shadows are spooky af and are GOING TO GET ME
I feel like one feature that might be nice would be having keyboard shortcuts for my non-telekinesis spells. Maybe also the ability to keep a couple of the witch biscuits I find if my mana is already full?
Overall really great work! (Also ty for the really cute picture of Onyx at the bottom of your game page. Please give him all of the pets from me)
Quite original idea with good challenge, like that you can change the lvl design for your needs, but sometimies levitation power works some clunky, i believe, that due to isometric view. You don't really understand the borders of other objects, it'd be better if during translating a object game highlights other objects, which collide with translated object. Great work!
Beautiful 2D style, I especially liked the runes on the floor, they look really cute! When I first saw the monsters, I thought I could dodge them with objects, and I was surprised when they just went through them (even if slowly). I also liked the fair hitboxes, sometimes I touched a monster but didn’t die, and I really appreciate that! And the object-dragging mechanic itself is really well done too!
Hello, a very nerve-wracking game with lots of atmosphere - very creative too! The artwork was really well done!
I managed to win on my third try, after I finally understood how it works. (On my first try, I didn’t get anything to block or slow down the ghosts, so I had no chance 😅)
The only critique I might have is about the levitating mechanic. The fact that you can levitate objects through other objects is great, but placing them back down requires a lot of precision. Maybe you could increase the margin there. Other than that, everything else was top!
Hey! Thanks so much for checking out our game.
Really glad you liked the art!
Really appreciate the advice about making the object dropping easier! It’s super valuable for us to know that it feels imperfect or like it has to be placed too precisely (and we totally agree).
We’re looking to fix that up in the next update.
Thanks again 🙏
Gran juego, buenas mecánicas
This felt very polished! It was the right amount of challenging, I lost a couple times.
I might have done it the hard way but I only moved furniture around, I didn't use any other spells.
It reminded me a bit of Magicka, it would be cool to see the world and plot expanded beyond a few rooms!
Wow what a nice concept. The visuals are great and the atmosphere is creepy and great!
The gameplay is refreshing and like placing the objects in the way of the shadows. That mechanic was way more satisfying then the other spells! Maybe give the moving of the furniture more upgrades, because thats really fun!
The audio was fitting and the theme was met quite literal!
Very polished experience! Great job!
Wow pretty terrifying atmosphere. Got the win before like three tries. The art is the best thing about this game. Very well done game!
The game's visuals are absolutely stunning. Love the ethereal plane house dimension and the shadow people. Well done!
This was really awesome! It's very stylish, and the gameplay loop is very satisfying despite being so simple. Great job!
Wow! I'm impressed you managed such a polished game! The music, animations, everything comes together so nicely! I love how smooth the characters movements and magic felt. The sparkling animation for the objects was super pretty and it was fun to go around looking for more biscuits. I like how the shadows don't appear right away which gives you time to become familiar with the controls and environment. Very well done!
This was fun!! Reminds me of DST2 and I really appreciate the nuances of the game balancing w.r.t rewards and risk. I can easily this expanding to a full game, but one thing that rlly annoyed me is that it rlly does feel like i should be able to rotate furniture after lifting it up!!
But otherwise it was a fun 'reverse' brotato.
Amazing game! Immersive, good gameplay, excellent audio and graphics. If more levels and different enemy types are added in the future, it could become a huge game! I really enjoyed it.
Thanks so much for the kind feedback! We are strongly considering building the game further after the jam, so really appreciate you saying that.
Best of luck with your game as well!
Such a nice and unique game! I love the idea, atmosphere and visuals. Great job! :D
Very atmospheric and challenging. LOVE the art-style, it's so cut and at the same time eerie. Will be returning for seconds.
Oh, one thing the shadows occasionally get stuck on stuff besides the spells, but it actually made the game a little easier so I can't really complain. Still didn't beat it though :P
I'm glad you really liked it! And yes, the furniture around the house can get shadows stuck a bit, just like some spells can. We failed to have a tutorial to display the levitation spell you start off with. Did you use the levitation spell to move furniture around to slow the shadows down?
Yeah I did, but it didn’t quite work. I will try again tomorrow morning.
Cheers
The theme is super well integrated here!
The eerie atmosphere gives it a very 'high stakes' feel to the mechanics! I got scared of the shadows running after me, haha! Love that the furniture slows them down! Me being a bad skill player have put myself into some corners more often than I would want to, hahaha! It's interesting how 'realistic' that would feel in real life.. I would also barricade myself if somethings were chasing me! haha
The spells and power ups were super cool and useful too! it's a tough decision which one to get first... I like the mana regen, but the slows/stops are super useful for a start!
Great job on the art as well ! the decision to go B&W was spot on for the mood!
Great submission! loved it! Would love to see fleshed out as a full game! 💪💪😊✨⚡
Thanks so much for checking it out!!
The way you played the game seems like the way I typically do (I tend to barricade myself a lot too haha).
Glad you liked the eerie atmosphere.
Hope you enjoyed! Best of luck with the jam :)
Wow, really, wow. I wasn’t ready for those 'things,' (Because I played it without seeing your screenshots, which I’m looking at now while writing this xD) they totally surprised me haha. Really cool!
The best submission I've seen so far. Gorgeous graphics, animations, innovative gameplay - you've delivered a masterpiece. This game definitely has a successful future ahead of it. Best of luck to you, I'll rate the game at maximum in all categories
Wow!! Thanks so much for the super kind words. It really made our day. 🙏
We are strongly considering continuing with this game after the jam if we receive positive feedback - so your comment is much appreciated!
We'll also be checking out your game as soon as we get the chance.
Best of luck in the jam!
