In our game, the risk of collecting gears can lead to certain death, but this is what will make the player advance and defeat the strongest enemies. Your battery management and your courage will determine whether you will go far or not.

It reminded me of Nintendo 64 games, I really liked it!

I found myself getting anxious when I got too far away from the starting point, especially with the battery bar ticking down! The variety of enemies was a nice surprise, accidentally came across the giant mech and got stomped lol. Feels quite fleshed out and I enjoyed it for the most part. The controls were my only gripe, felt a bit clunky (no pun intended). Like not being able to pan the camera up or down unless shooting or not being able to aim before shooting so I don't know where my mouse will be vertically on the screen, etc. Other than that, great work!

The design choices and character models are excellent. The character movement is a bit floaty and there's something odd with the camera when I aim my weapon - it seems to be in disagreement with me regarding what should be in focus. Still, there's a great foundation for a larger game here. Good job!

i like it

Thanks for playing!

It takes some time to get used to game mechanics, like on first I didn't notice gears or I totally forgot that gears make you heavier, so I was trying to escape from enemy base with 36 gears on my back lvl 1 😅.

Anyway, the game doesn't feel monotone because there's a bunch of different enemy types, which spawn in different patterns. Beside the map, textures, music and sounds(except high-pitched on pickup) are making the difference in an awesome manner too. Also really liked the implementation of risk mechanic.

Maybe would've liked to be able to change volume in-game and have less ammunition from the start, so that buying it makes more sense and the game is more risky from the start, but those are actually trivial matters, not worth putting even a star off.

Fun game! My main gripe is I like to have a reticle to see where I'm shooting so not having one throws me off. And the sound for picking up gears is jarring. But very cool robot designs!

Submitted

Not bad, I like how smooth it feels and how clearly you can see the big robot. Maybe when shooting I’d adjust the camera since it moves a bit too high (but maybe that’s just me ;) ). Other than that, great job!

The characters are so cool and the idea is pretty solid. would love if it was a little easier at the beggining but i had playing it anyways!

I love the character designs and environment! I agree with some of the others here that the controls/camera movement were a bit wonky at times, but I really love the way this turned out, and the core mechanics are a blast!
Great submission :)

Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback! We're so happy to see someone who really enjoyed our game, it means a lot to us!

I like to robots design and environment. It is a very nice game and I want to see more of it.

Developer

thanks buddy!

Overall good game but there were some bugs like in one time enemies died and drop gears after starting next round or upgrade menu didn't open.
Also like someone else said sound of collecting part is too high pitched.

Developer

Thanks bro!

Very nice! Shooting and movement feels great, it was fun collecting and zapping bots. The camera felt a little restrictive on the Y and felt unnatural when zooming in for shooting and it would've been cool if the cogs were attracted to the player a bit to make collecting a bit more effortless but very minor points to what is a pretty cool game. Great job!

PS. Those flying robots are hella mean.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback!

Good idea to make it easier for players to collect gear. The camera issue was a bit tricky, especially since there are both ground and flying enemies. We'll implement a better camera in the future!

Hey! The game was really fun. It's actually the first desktop game that worked on my PC for some reason 🤷

  • I liked your usage of the battery draining as "risking it for the biscuit"!
  • The character designs were endearing. And I liked the shop choices.
  • The shooting when you hold the click feels good in weight even if the aiming was tough.
  • I didn't read your itch.io page first, so when I first saw the freakin Gundam I dropped my gears. Lost a few times, but after some upgrades I am now the King of Robots! :D

Minor Feedback

  • The audio for when you pick up gears was too high pitched and not so nice in my opinion.
  • I saw you mentioned that implementing a crosshair is in your backlog, which I also agree would improve play.
  • Would also be cool if the upgraded gun FELT more powerful (i.e. changing the color or size of the projectile).

Great game entry! Was a lot of fun. Best of luck with the jam :)

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback! (We love the Yu-Gi-Oh gadget reference; maybe we'll add the Gear Giant X)

We'll be more careful with the game's small noises and support player actions. We'll do our best!

The game looks very cool and the concept is so nice! I like the characters and the design. I would say the biggest drawback is the aiming system since it can feel hard to aim, and you only start to know where your shots will go after the 4th shot.  Apart from that very solid game!

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
The aim mechanic was the last one that we had implemented, so unfortunately we didn't have time to get it right and with a crosshair on the screen. But we'll improve that!

Interesting idea, but it all felt a little hard to control, and it took me a while to figure out what my objective was. Beyond that, I found a bug where pressing the button to leave a few times in a row just killed all the enemies outside for me. With polish however, this could easily be a very fun gameplay loop! Keep it up!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for your feedback!

We originally planned to show the player the boss's objective with a cutscene, but due to the short timeframe, that didn't happen. We'll also be improving some mechanics to make the game more intuitive.

Submitted

Felt a bit heavy in moving around, but I guess that's probably intended. It's a bit hard to aim, especially with the camera movements being a bit wobbly between shoots. The concept is there, is aligned with the theme, as many other games in any jams, including mine, it just needs more polish. But you got something going on here :)

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback!

As our first game together, some polishing issues weren't clear to us, but we'll definitely improve in the future!

I like robots. The idea is clear: you risk your life to get rewards and reach the best ones. I would have liked to receive more instructions because I went there and there were few robots, and I wasted my life running to attack. I would have liked a pointer to know where I was aiming, but good job!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback!

We really missed out on informing the player about the controls and objectives, but we'll do better next time!

This game is quite fun! The idea of your health slowly draining when going into the main area is a very simple, but very good interpretation of the theme in my opinion. You feel under pressure, but there's enough reward in all directions to make you want to risk it for the biscuit. Very nice work! I got a very early win because the final boss walked through the big red door and chased me. I shot back with my lvl 2 weapon and defeated him quickly.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback and for playing our game!

We appreciate the compliments! The boss was supposed to be a bit more challenging/have more unique mechanics, but we didn't have time to implement them. Beating him so early is a huge accomplishment for you too!

it is really great having a fellow unreal engine developer on the jam, the game played very well and it hits that nostalgia of the old games that i really enjoyed, the first thing came into my mind was iron man in iron man game, i see a great poentional for your game with some work on it but the only thing i can critisize is the pickup sound was really really annoying to my ears, overall great submission and a really 8/10 game just because of the pickup sound.

Wow, you made it all the way to the end! Thank you so much for the feedback and for playing; it just reinforces what we love to do!

We apologize for the high-pitched gear noise; it sounded too low in the pre-build version, and we ended up exaggerating it a bit, haha.

Submitted(+1)

for some reason sometimes i could open the shop and other times i couldn't. otherwise, this is very impressive, especially the graphics and audio

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback!

In the game, there's a mechanic that requires you to press the button again to open the shop when you return to base, but we forgot to make this clear to the player. Thanks for the compliments!
