How does the game fit the theme?
You literally risk it for the biscuit by snackrificing (sacrificing) your bakers to earn powerful Bloody Biscuits - mystical buffs granted by the Biscuit God, battle rival head bakers to conquer new territories and gather ingredients to craft unbeatable biscuits and prove once and for all who truly bakes the best biscuits!
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Most of the code and design were made from scratch during the jam. The only exceptions were a few 3D models that came from an asset pack (environment props, foliage etc) to save time on art. Everything else including gameplay logic, systems, UI and core mechanics was created during the jam

great game and all ^ ^, kudos
Thank you so much, I'm glad you like it 💙
The game became more fun as I progressed, and your effort really shows — I really enjoyed it!
Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it 💙
I don't know why but I find the voice announcing the biscuit after a sacrifice so funny, the art is nice, the game idea is cool, everything is great! 5/5 on all categories.
Thank you so much, I'm glad you like our game 💙
Rated yours, here's mine: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-14/rate/3851574
Rated! Good job on your game :D
Great game! Great art and felt im playing Catan but with a twist.
The game needs some balancing, but that can be done easily; other than that, the multiplayer part would be a great addition too.
Well done
Thank you! I fully agree, those two things are at the top of the priority list!
Incredible submission, well done! I see one major issue with the current gameplay though. It's entirely unnecessary to bake any cookies whatsoever. Just rush your enemy base and declare this country now flies under your flag. It's as british as tea and biscuits.
Haha! Indeed XD But yeah, we're thinking of making it so you can't attack the bakeries. Lots of balancing to do!
What a time to be alive to play things like this! congratulations to the team.
Haha thank you!
What a time to be alive to play things like this! congratulations to the team.
This is pretty cool. At first I thought it was like Catan but its more like Risk. I enjoyed it and I don't have really much to critique cuz you hit the nail on the head. If you make this into a full game there is stuff to expand, visuals to look better and all that. But for game jam game I am impressed.
Thank you!
One of better games this jam. First it was a bit confusing but later very addictive. This low poly aesthetic and funny voice reminded me of Worms 3D. It could be cool board game too!
Thank you! :D
This is a great game and i was pretty surprised that someone made a Tile based progress game (i don't remember the exact term) and upon playing it was pretty polished and the mechanics were pretty well balanced as for the most part, I had quite a lot of Fun
Rated:10/10
btw, Please try out my game Racookie Heist as well 😊, I worked really hard on it as well. I hope to see you in the Racookie Heist Comments section soon :D
Thank you! Yeah I'll definitely check out your game!
Thankyou :DD
This reminds me of Risk, but with some fun biscuit-flavored twists. Unfortunately, I didn't need to do much baking as I could easily win my going straight for the opponent's bakery. But with some tuning, the concept seems really cool. I also love the little baker voice lines. Reminds me of Worms.
Thanks for playing and offering feedback! We're definitely going to fix the balancing and make the snackrificing mechanic more rewarding.
This is definitely a super unique gameplay experience, nothing like most of the games in the jam.
Tough week of work, but totally worth it, seriously cool stuff! It’d be awesome to add some quick onboarding or a tutorial for first-time players, just to help folks get their bearings right from step one.
Sound design is spot-on, perfectly tailored to the vibe of the game. Great job!
Thank you, I'm glad you like it, we worked hard on it 💙
I definitely agree. Due to not having enough time we had to cut the tutorial out and replaced it with a text, but it's on top of our things to add priority list for after the jam ends
Really fun game! Once I figured out how to play, it became clear and very enjoyable. I also liked the sound effects, they’re fun! Well done! :D
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy it 💙
This is a very nice game! I really liked the little voice lines of the bakers, I thoroughly enjoyed it; excellent job!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy it 💙
I like the vibe of the models and art! it’s a bit unbalanced that you don’t really need to risk anything and it REALLY misses bgm but other than that it’s a solid entry goodjob, also I feel multiplayer would make the game
Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you like it 💙
I agree and we definitely will work on balancing the game after the jam ends to make snackrificing more necessary, and multiplayer is on top of our priority list. We will also take a look at the background music to improve it
I really wish we could’ve previewed what the bloody biscuit effects were for, after three turns I didn’t see any reason to sacrifice anything since I was winning… and then I won on the next turn. I’m sure the game’s more compelling when you don’t conquer your opponent, but I have a hard time intentionally not taking the winning move if it’s there? I’m a huge board game fan and was happy to see this, it’s a lot of systems to get together in a week! So definitely something to feel proud of even if the exact design/balance didn’t quite land for me
I definitely agree that the balancing needs a lot of work, especially with the Snackrificing. Previewing the bloody biscuit effects is an interesting idea that I'll consider for sure! Maybe in an actual tutorial it can go through each one, or in the bloody biscuit menu a little window can pop up showing the effect in action. Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
Excellent game! 177:6 is very crazy.
This is going to be an honest and rather detailed review, as I love this game and the vision of it.
First off some bugs, if you click on the recipes when it's the placement round the game just glitches and doesn't let you place anything.
The rectangle that says placement also sort of blocks you from seeing where you are placing when you are placing close to the enemy base.
Raspberry is very contested. Being used in both of the most powerful recipes in the game and only having 1 territory, I frequently found myself contesting the raspberry space. This isn't an issue now as the AI is kinda dumb, but putting the raspberry in the center instead of leaning towards a players position would make it more fair in my opinion.
Speaking of the AI, is it bugged? There's no way it got just 6 points in the whole game. (Actually that may be possible because I was hoarding all the sugar the whole game). Could you explain to me how the AI is coded? I am working on a sort of card game and I would love to hear how your team achieved this (game AI confuses me)
If the enemy base is close to you, i.e next to you(not opposite), it is possible to win round 2 by just spamming all your bakers in one space and sweeping towards the enemy. This is probably not a problem when playing against a more defensive opponent. Being defensive tends to not exactly work in most scenarios, however.
On the titular mechanic, Snackrifice, I didn't use it once in my winning game. It felt very not worth it for the miniscule buffs that you get, or maybe the buffs get a lot better the more you sacrifice, however those 15 or so bakers that you sacrifice could be used to conquer every area and have much more use overall. Also, while sacrificing your bakers, you leave a lot of territories to be vulnerable to attack, which can lose you a lot of points. When playing the game, is snackrificing generally worth it? Maybe the buffs should feel a little more material, instead of involving probabilities. Telling the player exactly what they will get if they sacrifice is also a good idea.
This is a snowball game, as in the person who is winning will keep winning because they will have more bakers to get more territories(except when I somehow lose a 7v2). This is not exactly bad for the game, but it's just something to note that the early game is very important in this game, and failing the early game wouldn't end well (again, not a big problem here bc the AI is so mid).
The art style is very simple and very fitting for a 3D jam game. Making a 3d game with decent graphics is hard, making it in 7 days is even harder, and I liked how your team managed to think of simple models to fit the timeframe. Of course, the game could probably work in 2D as well, but it wouldn't feel as polished in my opinion.
This game has a great deal of polish. The environment and foliage were not needed (there's even a beach!), but they really enhance the general game feel.
I haven't got to gameplay yet, and that's because it's the best part. Very innovative, I like how you have to conquer territories and strategize so that you are able to get exactly what territories you need for the biscuit you want while still being able to keep the territories and defend opponents. It would be pretty cool if each biscuit gave you a different buff to make them more unique than just point farms.
Awesome game! Would love to see more from this team in future game jams.
Thanks for playing and for the detailed review!
The rectangle blocking your view shouldn’t happen because you should be able to move and rotate the camera, so that’s an issue we’re going to look into. I can’t replicate it on my end however so I’ve got no idea what that would be. Several people have mentioned it. What are you playing on?
I wasted a lot of time trying to use an addon to make the ai smart- in the end I reverted it back to its original form of being an almost completely random system. It doesn’t have preferences beyond expanding, attacking, and placing reinforcements along its borders. It doesn’t snackrifice because I found it did it too often and made it even easier to beat haha
Sugar is essential in every recipe, so if the ai didn’t get one or couldn’t keep one for a while then I’m not surprised it did so poorly! Balancing in general is going to take a lot of work. I wanted to make it multiplayer, so when we have that system in place we can better fine tune all those mechanics, especially the Snackrificing which should be more rewarding!
Thanks again for your kindness and insights!
I LOVE this game. It's genuinely just an absolute blast, topped with charming voice lines, visuals, SFX, animations, and balanced but challenging gameplay. Fantastic submission, easily one of my favorites.
Well thank you for saying so! The gameplay could certainly stand to be more balanced and there’s still some bugs to iron out but that’s a game jam for ya!
Love the little Australian bakers, very fun game to play and very well balanced, pretty nice art, really good game overall!
Thank you so much! :D
