Ranked from 27 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does the game fit the theme?
Since the theme was "Nothing can go wrong", Under Control is about a situation that is gradually deteriorating and the player is tasked to keep it manageable until the time limit.

The player must fix the malfunctions appearing on 3 consoles around him to keep the corresponding monsters contained. The malfunctions appear more frequently as time goes on to keep the player on its toes.

If things go wrong by letting a monster escape, the player dies and the game ends.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All musics and sound effects are royalty-free and come from either Freesound.org or Youtube SFX channels. I edited some of them according to my needs

The following 3D models and animations were not made by me but were free models on sites like Turbosquid.com and Mixamo:
- Mutant: Mixamo
- Headcrab zombie: https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/3d-improved-gonome-1901177
- Half-demon: https://forums.unrealengine.com/t/free-aaa-quality-horror-game-monster-animations-and-ai-included/71474
- Shutter: https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/free-rigged-roller-shutters-3d-model/1026242

Apart from this, the rest of the static meshes were made only by me in the engine, as well as the whole code (blueprints)

Nice game! It is easy to understand how it works and what we need to do, so great job!
I had a lot of fun playing, and I think the atmosphere is really well done. You can feel the tension and stress when we start to loss vision in the monsters. Nice submission!

Cool game, but I couldnt tell how what I was doing was effecting was was happening, however I liked the idea and the visuals are nice, well done :)

Great game concept! :D

The gameplay is straightforward, yet the atmosphere made me feel a bit paranoid about what was going to happen next XD.
Well done on creating such an immersive experience using limited visuals and audio!

Maybe you could enhance it further with more original visuals and add a bit of volumetric fog to strengthen the overall atmosphere even more!

Fun and cool idea! Loved it. I think adding an indicator (maybe a sound effect) when something goes wrong would be better because sometimes I miss stuff. The atmosphere was perfect and made me fear of what was about to happen. The jumpscare tho could be scarier.

Very cool idea for a game! I liked the variety of monsters, and I found myself scrambling to complete the tasks as fast as possible! I was curious on what happens when the monsters get out, so I let all the machines fail, and I found that the time until clock out is shorter than the time it takes the bars to fill up. I still enjoyed this game a lot, and I would love to see a future version with more content (and maybe some more horror aspects like jump scares)! The atmosphere is amazing, and this game definitely has potential! Overall good stuff!

Huh, this is weird. I'm pretty sure I balanced the clockout time to give the player some leeway while not making it possible to win if the consoles stay untouched. I'll have to look into it after the jam. If you want to know, basically, whichever monster's bar fills up first will make the monster appear in front of the door for a very soft "jumpscare".

Anyway, thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed it! :-)

Great job on creating a short but really tense and blood pumping experience! It really has the vibe of "Paper, please! and "Five Night at Freddy's" with simplify task, yet branching choices can make a great impact to your play session!

Audio design is outstanding, made me always turn back to see what was going there, even though all containers were at safe threshold.

A potential gem which can be developed into a great title!

I had fun even tho I was sweating while playing (I get scared so easily you have no idea). The models for the monsters were pretty good, I loved the one on the right. I would suggest to add a different minigame for each monster, so the game could change based on the monsters you have to manage. Great job :)

Good Game. You nailed it, and the visuals matched the theme. Please add more creatures in the future. Good luck with this project; it was worth the time.

cool! :)

That was a very fun game! It was fun to manage all the different creatures and stressing about failing for one of them. I can see this game expanding with more creatures to take care of and different tasks to do!

One suggestion is the lever task seemed kind of long and there was nothing to really do during that time so maybe making it decay from 100% instead of instantly at 0 might make the flow a bit better!

Amazing Game,keep going (Rated)

Great game! So glad I wasn't jumpscared. I loved the concept and execution.

I LOVED how well indicated everything is! From visual effects to sound cues, I knew EXACTLY what was happening at any given moment. At first I actually didn't realize I could turn around - but the moment I saw sirens going off to my sides I was like "wait hold up", haha

Very good game with a very fun concept :D

Good interpretation of the them!

that was creepy... but in a good way! great job!

I really like the concept. Good job!

Nothing can go wrong for real :)

I did enjoy the sense of urgency, and the countdown, the task, the feeling like I have to prevent something, and I enjoyed not doing anything at all next round. The sounds make me embrace that feeling perfectly!

My only note: I would have not put a red/dark-red color on gray background, it was hard to read, but it is a minor issue :-)

Nice job!

Fantastic

This game is awesome. I think my only note is that the switch could be able to be toggled no matter where you click it. Just having it activate on the red ball part made it a needless accuracy game that felt unresponsive. Awesome atmosphere, and the gameplay was really engaging and intense. Good job!

I played it 5 times, I died 5 times, I gave it 5 stars.

Just wondering what triggers your death? I thought it was the red bar but sometimes my bar is pretty low and I just die anyways. Great game though. I really like the idea of a monster being trapped while you have to watch it. Simple button presses are always fun to me as well. :)

Haha, thank you for the kind words!
From what you're saying, I think you were only watching one of the 3 monsters around you and died to one of the 2 on your sides. You can look around you with A and D. It's on the tutorial prompt, but I admit it's not the most visible element :)
