Your artstyle is great and the idea to show the enemies' paths is cool. Sadly it was very small in my browser and barely playable.

Developer

Did the fullscreen button not show in your browser? If so, I would be interested to know which browser it is that makes trouble, if you want to share that :)
Thanks for trying out my game.

Submitted

Yes the Fullscreen button was there. I first tryed it on an Chrome Broswer. I did Try it again and this time it works. Sorry Layer 8 Problem maybe :P

I appreciate the change to the "tower defense formula" because it's almost as if you want to get enemies closer to the tower so you can prepare for future waves. The loot you get at the beginning is never enough to sustain you throughout the next swarm so as a player you're forced to make an interesting trade-off :)

Really fun and gorgeous to look at. Wish it had audio to really hook me in. Great job, overall!

Nice take on the theme and like the simple visuals, found that it was surprisingly difficult but was still fun to play

Submitted(+1)

I had some difficulties to start with the game, the way it works was actually hard to understand, but once you get it that becomes really nice. This is a good way to use a genre in a different way, good job :)

I love tower defence games and this was no diffrent :D I love how you can reposition your towers depending to the enemies. The simple visuals work very well you can clearly see the towers and the enemies which some tower defence games fails trying to achive this clearnes. My feedback would be that using space for two diffrent actions sometimes causes unintended actions (at least for me :d) i wanted to reload the towers but picked them up instead. Also the game definetly needs sound effects but i think you already know that :d. Also maybe adding a send wave early button can speed things up. Overall pretty good game had fun while playing it great job :D

Note:I would be happy if you could check out my game as well :d

I actually really really like this, and I'm usually not one for tower defense games. I liked the controls and moving around and placing towers/fences. However, having to run over to the tower/fence buy stations threw me off. Especially since there is no time to let me know when the next wave was coming in. I'm not sure if different enemies had special abilities (maybe more health than others), but I think adding that could be cool. Some indicator to let you know when a tower is out of ammo would be a life savor haha.

Nice job!

Developer

Some indication when the next wave is coming is definitely something I want to add.
Yeah, different enemies had different health and speed. Special abilities is a really good idea. I added the tower and fence buying stations to make the game more dynamic and have the player run around a lot (the same reason you have to restock the towers ... to make *less* towers *more* manageable ^^). Maybe I've went overboard with forcing the player running everywhere though.
There is actually an indicator on the tower (a bar that shrinks), but its not very obvious, probably also something to improve upon :)
I didn't get to do a lot of balancing, so in that area the game *really* lacks. If/when I revisit the game after the jam, thats something I need to put much more effort into.
Really glad you liked it :)

Yeah, I get the theme, that makes sense. I may have totally missed this, but was it possible to power-up one of your towers? I think the running around was fine, I liked it, I just didn't know when enemies would be coming and was kinda hesitant to even leave since I needed to restock my towers, haha.

I noticed the indicator on the tower after I lost a couple of times, and I think that indicator was fine, but maybe if the tower faded in and out (maybe a white color), or something to show it was empty could really catch the players attention.

Yeah, it was a game jam, so I get that balancing wasn't really a top priority, but yeah it was still fun :)

Developer

Yeah, having some broadcasting of the need to restock could be good, nice idea.

And yeah, you can also upgrade the towers (with the enter key). The do more damage then and have a reduced range for more targeted shooting.

Like the concept and how you could move towers around! Also liked the graphics in the game! could be improved with some sound effects and background music though! But Good Job!!

Submitted

Good concept, and I like your take on the theme! It rewards risky gameplay. I also really like how you're able to move your towers around, so you can constantly reposition depending on what paths the enemies take. I would remove the restock mechanic entirely though, as it makes it very hard to upgrade your towers because you have to constantly spend money to restock ammo. It's also difficult to tell when your tower is out of ammo or not, so an indicator for that would be useful.

Developer

Happy you liked the concept and saw that I tried to reward risky gameplay.
The point with restocking the towers is a point well taken, and for sure something I will try out.
Thx for playing my game :)

Love the mechanics and the style, but too hard for me. I'd definitely play more if it was easier / more forgiving.

Such a cool game! I really like this type of game! The concept is awesome and have so much depth, the pixel art and animation is so clean and polished. Gameplay is very fun, though I was quite confuse at first when I didn't know you have to restock the towers, maybe make it have some ammunitions by default first would be really nice! I think with some simple sfx and music will be an even better.

Overall super fun game. Great job!

The game is pretty cool! but in he beginning I did not know I had to restock the towers so they could shoot enemies and was kind of annoying at first, anyways the game is pretty polished and would Like the enemies to drop more loop cause the towers cost so much and that's all really! :)

Submitted(+2)

It was hard indeed.. I suck at tower defense and gave up fast! Anyhow video below: 40:00 Close Encounter

Developer(+1)

Thx for checking it out :)
Its great to see somebody else play your game!

Submitted

Very minimalistic design and art style, would love it if it had more sound though.

Submitted

Nice game. However, the game is to small to play. I would love It if you would play my game.

Developer

Did you try to switch to full-screen? If not maybe try it that way. :)

Submitted(+1)

Hey,

Got to hand it to you, this is one good game. I felt like due to the time you had little time on the music and polish, but the game loop is already neat.

From one Godot developer to another, Cheers!!!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it :). Yes sfx, music and polish is always at the back of my list (gotta get the core running first) for jam games that often fall short due to time-constraints. Definitely something I want to come back to here.

Submitted

It's difficult to understand at first. A tutorial and some music would make it better. Good game!

Submitted

The idea is nice, however, the controls makes it difficult to play.

Also I noticed my towers kept disappearing, but I couldn't understand why

Developer

The towers disappear when an enemy touches them. Thx for checking out the game.

Submitted

It's a good concept. A little too hard and complicated to get the mechanics. The control scheme is challenging to understand maybe separating it more would be good. Otherwise well done!

Developer

Hmmm ... I intentionally tried to make the control scheme easy by using just the standard movement controls and two additional buttons (space and enter). Do you think separating it out into more control inputs (e.g. separate buttons for reload, pickup, setdown) would make it easier actually, especially considering the stressful nature of the game?

Submitted(+1)

I should've clarified better what I was trying to say. Space hold and Space short could be separated cuz sometimes I was trying to do one thing and end up doing another not intended.

Developer

Right, yeah I can see that. I wonder if increasing the long-press time could help there, and possibly an indicator (e.g. a circle filling up, etc.) to show when it is registered as a pickup/set-down. Thx for that valuable input, definitely something to think about.

I love this game the visuals are really nice. I would love some music being added. Like you could even make it a bit better by making random map generation to make it somewhat unique everytime you play and add some more characters. Music and sound would improve this game heavily

Developer

Yeah random map generation was something I was imagining adding during the jam, but at some point I had to get realistic about my time management :D. Also sound and music. Definitely something thats on my priority list with regards to adding stuff.
