Nice idea but I think there is just not too much information on how to deal with the ghost.
Thanks! I sadly know about this ghost problem and should've made it more clear.
Nice mood in this horror game. The jump-scare when one of the ghosts catches you really got me every time. The ghosts, however, are also one of the major frustrations for me in the game. Other than sound, it doesn't seem there is any indication as to when you are near one, and if you are, I wasn't able to discern a direction from their sound. Since they move it was kind of a coin-toss for me to get killed or not, when they where around. Maybe making them visible at very short range (maybe only with lights on to make you switch between the modes) could help with keeping the player on edge, but giving them a realistic chance to avoiding them?
Love how u made use of light and shadow, really makes me want to try something out with that mechanic. Nice job!
The ghosts were one of my most difficult tasks to achieve as sound design is not my forte and I didn't understand very well how it worked on Godot to discern distance and direction well. I was running out of time and I thought it wasn't affecting the experience too much. Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah, I can imagine. Sound (especially if its involved as a mechanic) is not easy to implement. For what its worth, the mood you created sound-wise (especially with the ghost heart beat getting louder when they get closer) was really ominous and nicely done. Maybe google spits something out if you look for "directional sound source" or something similar. Good luck!
Really good game! I really like the atmosphere and it gets pretty intense when you play it for a while. I really like using the mouse scroll wheel to control the lantern but maybe you should add another option for people who don't have a mouse. I also missed the part at the beginning that said you had to interact with pieces using the "E" key so I kinda just wandered around for a few minutes until I came back haha. Really good nonetheless. Nice use of the theme. I actually thought of doing something similar but ended up not coming up with a solid idea.
Thanks! Yeah, I really missed out on somethings. I feel the need for more polish. Glad you liked it.
Really nice horror game! Locating the ghost is very hard, and I don't really know what to do if it's close. I just stand still and hope for the best, but that does not always work. The places of the clues are not really hard to find (good thing), but once I hear the sound I just start spamming and hope that I get it, as you can not see it with the flashlight.
My idea for the ghost was to run away blindly as far away as from the sound of their footsteps and go past them when they're far. I should've clarified this more. I knew spamming would be the strategy most would use but I didn't have time for a better solution. Thanks for the feedback!
It's a really well made horror game, kinda reminds me of Darkwood, in that it's a great top-down horror game. I kept dying out of nowhere, which made me jump quite a few times ngl XD
Thanks! I think I should've explained better how the ghosts work (You can hear them walking with your lantern off) haha
Interesting take on the theme. The game is too spooky for me i jumped when ghosts killed me :D.
I couldnt find the last clue maybe add some viasual cues to find them easily. Other than that loved it great work :D
Thanks! HAHA I'm glad you liked it.
The less light you use, the more you hear the clues! Very cool game and concept!
Thanks really appreciated!
You're welcome!
I don't really understand how this fits the theme. Otherwise, nice submission! I really liked the visuals.
I think it fits cuz the less light you use the more sounds you can hear. Thanks for playing!
