  • Fantastic game, feels very fleshed out, could be a steam release tomorrow

What do you like about your game?
I genuinely enjoy the concept of the game and the general feel, and I feel that I need to dig way deeper. I am beyond excited to showcase it to everyone !

Very nice game!

Great game! Very original and also well polished. :)

Amazing game! From the starting story part, the tutorials, the concept of capturing the first kill, and then all the starting factions! Wow! But more than the new units (only tried the Vampires so far) what I really enjoyed was the titles you had for each level hehe.

Congratulations, amazing game! And so nicely fitting to the theme!

Very good!

I had played this before the rating began, and I just remembered to return to give my thoughts!

I like the gameplay loop, and the "muted" audio makes the game feel more... intimate? I like the mood established by it!

Good luck with the jam!

Loved the concept, gona try and beat it with all delvers >:)

Very enjoyable. I found myself thinking very carefully and planning things out. Good difficulty level in my opinion. Also feels like a full game! My nitpicks pretty much come down to some issues with clarity (pits/walls, turn sequence, long diagonals, as others have already stated). Quality of life suggestion: When I try to drag a piece onto a square that's already occupied, swap those pieces positions, or swap the already placed piece into your reserve if you just dragged the new piece out of your reserve.

Excellent points, I struggle so much with UI and of course playtesting and every little things makes a massive difference for games like this !

An excellent idea, executed perfectly.

The joy of putting 4 pieces together and absolutely smashing your opponent, is perfect.

genuinely amazing game...design, gameplay, all of it is incredibly impressive for a game jam title! bravo!!

Really cool concept and great execution, my only suggestion would be to make the turn sequence clearer as it can be a bit confusing when the enemy turn passes without them taking any actions. Something as simple as splashing up "Player Turn" and "Enemy Turn" at the start of each would help clarify things.

Developer(+1)

There is already a player turn enemy turn at the top right of the screen. And it's not your fault if you don't see it it's a recurrent feedback. I experimented with this a bunch, but the game felt too slow when the turns where more chopped off, and putting the text in the middle of the screen was a bit too flashy !

This game is very fun. I love the mechanics and puzzle-like nature of the game. And I love the unique design of all the pieces. I hope more comes of this game, I would love to play more levels and explore the mechanics further!

I  think that the game would benefit from more clarity/contrast in the graphics. For examples, walls and pits are somewhat difficult to distinguish. And also, maybe some kind of grid background to make it easier to predict the movement of diagonal pieces across pits.

My only other comment is maybe including some way of indicating which pieces can hop over walls and units and which can't.

Developer

Yes yes yes, 100% agree on everything you said! It's missing a lot of nice qol, targetting is broken and would need to be done nicely, most likely need to add more contrasting colors for the enemies!

Really cool game, but god I suck at it lmao. Would benefit a lot from some easier starting levels.

Wow this is a crazy well made game. The polish is insane, the mechanics make sense (although take a tiny amount of time to get used to) and it's all so well presented. Great job!

this is trully amazing!

Wow. Loved the intro, very cinematic. The screen shake and SFX give every action a sense of impact. I'm not really into chess like that, but I might come back to this. It's a tactical team turn-based strategy game, which I love. Its amazing that you got all this done and looking great within the time of 2 weeks. Great game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much. I actually thought (am still thinking?) about removing the chess part from the game. There is more custom units than classic chess pieces at this point, and I don't know if the chess them detracts people from having a nice experience (going to "this is chess! I'm bad at chess") or if it is actually useful to provide familiar context for the game!

Submitted(+1)

wow, im floored... this game is awesome! there's so much depth in the mechanics, with each feature interweaving with each other to make such a nice game loop. the presentation and game feel are also so polished. great work!

I love this game. Its polished af and it has a lot of game for a gamejam. Very interesting gameplay. I think you could definitely expand on it :)

Submitted(+1)

Very fun, although some puzzles became easy to cheese because the AI is pretty limited in that it only does anything if it can immediately take a piece, but I imagine that programming chess AI in two weeks is not ideal lol. Great game, definitely my pick to win the jam.
