Purge Repurpose Destroy is a psychological horror job sim inspired by "Papers, Please" & "SCP – Containment Breach". Your job is to work as an Anomaly inspector to uncover what objects are or are not anomalous using nothing but your mind and whatever tools are at your disposal. Make sure your deductions are correct, or you may die in the process.

"Purge Repurpose Destroy 0.1.0" was made in a week for a game jam competition called "SCREAM JAM 2025", and out of 961 entries, managed to score in the top 25 entries for Enjoyment (Best Game), coming in at rank 24.

"Purge Repurpose Destroy 0.2.0" featured numerous quality of life changes, additions, and reworks, all influenced by feedback gathered during the gamejam competition.

With plans to continue development of the game, any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Link: Purge Repurpose Destroy

What an interesting game! One of the few game jam entries where I can actually praise the writing being put on display here, but I love how real you guys were able to make the dialogue of the characters. You were perfectly able to replicate real internet slang that people use, to the point where I felt like I could learn about who a person was after only a few messages from them. I will say, though, that the ending I got was very... abrupt? I definitely feel like I missed something, as by the end, I still wasn't even sure what was really going on. I do wonder how many endings this game has, and I'd be down to check out the game later if you guys decide to add more to the game. Great submission and great game!

The vibes were perfect, and this is a very surreal "techno-melt" feel that is very difficult to achieve. My biggest complaint would be that the "puzzles" were very simple, and for the part that required a VHS, dictaphone, and CD, it just wouldn't accept my items, and I ended up getting stuck there. Maybe I did something wrong on my end, but I really wanted to see the ending of the game. Still, though, I think for being made in one week, this is a very clean and streamlined game. Great job and great game!

What a fun, well-thought-out, and RUSTY game! I absolutely loved every bit of this, and I say that I would for real spend real-world money to get a whole game with just this. The grappling was very satisfying, with a good THUNK for everything I did. I never ran into any bugs, and every puzzle felt challenging enough to be rewarded when I got it right. Also, I can't believe you found a way to take one of the ugliest, disgusting, and most brutal types of metal textures to work with, and you found a way to make an entire game using only RUST. Incredible stuff. My only criticism is that there wasn't really a strong horror or story angle to the game. But honestly, I could totally see that being something added in later if you ever choose to work on this game further. Absolutely great stuff, and Great Game!

What can be said that hasn't already been said? Nah, I won't cop out with a comment like that. The game is very pretty, and I like the vibe of it a lot. Enough has already been said about the library sections, but I, too, found it to be very tedious. However, you guys have a good enough art direction to the point where you could really revamp things and have a completely playable game. Great job to everyone who worked on this game, and great game!

Love the Aesthetic of the game and the overall vibes! You were going for that PlayStation platformer type of game, and you pretty much hit the nail on the head. I do, however, have some suggestions regarding the movement since I've played a lot of platformers myself. I think that, as the movement system exists right now, it suffers from delays between input->movement and release movement button->no longer moving. I would lightly move right with my stick, and my little dude would decide that's a sign to go on a nice walk to visit his grandma. I honestly believe if you polish up the movement just a bit, you've got a nice little gem of a game right here! Still, though, for a game made in one week, this is extremely impressive. Great job and Great Game!

I love the ocean, and I managed to beat the game! I love the vibe of the main menu, and the music sounds like something right out of Celeste! My own real criticism would be that I was very close to dropping the game, trying to look for the big fish. It was pure coincidence that I was able to find it at all.  Also, I think my natural instinct when swimming was to go up (cause I assume I'll run out of breath), so that made it harder for me to find the remote in the beginning. Though considering that the game was made in one week, it's okay to excuse most of those issues. Great game overall and good job!

I actually played your game already on stream! I'll drop my game here as well if you'd like to check it out! https://itch.io/jam/scream-jam-2025/rate/3941122

I usually don't look at comments before playing a game, but I happened to glance at one of them before downloading the game, which luckily gave me a tip for the gameplay mechanic. I still feel like I would've been able to figure it out on my own (since a single run is so short), so I don't feel robbed there. But I like the gameplay mechanic and the overall art style! I got ending three, and I feel like with a bit of polishing, this game could have a lot going for it!

I look forward to whatever you guys work on next. Good job and great game!

Unlike many other commenters here, I didn't run into any bugs regarding the web dev version! I like the art of the main character, and the menus/systems all seem to be implemented pretty well. My main issue comes with the fact that I found the process of walking around to be very boring, and I felt that I lacked any incentive to play or discover new paths. This is still a good submission overall, though, and for being made in a single week, I think it's worth praising! Great job and great game!

Cute aesthetics, I actually like the pixel art/animation quite a bit! Looks charming! As others have pointed out, however, I couldn't figure out how to throw the potions, so I didn't experience any gameplay components other than moving around and collecting stuff. Still, though, for being made in a single week by a solo dev, I think it's still impressive that you managed to get this all set up! I'd love to try the game again once some bugs are ironed out post-jam! Good job and great game!

Unironically, this game has a LOT of good elements, to the point where I genuinely had to wonder if this was a master at work. That introduction was actually a very good mock SCP containment breach / VHS warning video. Everything actually feels well thought out, like the developer actually understood the irony behind making this game, but also provided something that could be treated as a real product in a vacuum. I think the most praiseworthy thing I could say about this game is this: if the 67 meme didn't exist, this would still be a pretty solid (if kinda simple) horror game.

I will say that some parts of this game seem like they utilize a lot of outside assets, but I guess that's fine for something made in only one week. This pains me to say, but Good Game, and good job!

Really effective horror game! The aesthetics were really good, and it felt pretty complete from the start and all the way to the end! The transitions from 2d to 3d were really good, and the noises from killing the *deer* were really creepy and did a good job of selling the final twist. Really good submission overall and good game!

I feel like I was able to make it past the ouija board consistently, but the monster that roamed in the halls felt unavoidable, and it didn't really feel like my choices mattered in the ouija board section. Feel like there was an idea there that never got fully realized, but I understand we only had 1 week to make our games, so that can be excused. Still pretty cool submission and great game!

Overall, I liked the pixel art in this entry, and I think the basic gameplay loop is pretty understandable once you read the description. Though I would've preferred if there were an in-game tutorial explaining things a bit more. Some music would've also gone a long way as well, since I felt like it was pretty quiet overall. Still, though, for being made in 1 week, this is pretty good. Great stuff and good game!

Glad you got to check out the game! To put it simply, to have the objects appear in the game, you need to open up the computer and click on the "Today's Quota" tab. On that screen, click on the "Login" button to start the game! From there, you can probably figure out what to do, but if you're confused at any point, you can find tips on the bulletin board in the back of the room! Thank you so much, and I hope you enjoy the game :)

I definitely got stabbed way more times than I should've, mainly cause I ran into a bug with the starting dialogue where I instantly got stabbed before he finished his sentence. I was able to beat the game, and I feel like the actual premise of an eye spy horror game is pretty cool. The game was definitely short, but I think, given the fact that it was made in a week, that can mostly be excused! Good stuff overall, and I look forward to whatever you work on next! Great game!

Pretty interesting submission. I will say that I ran into a few bugs involving the web version of the game, where I couldn't hide my mouse, and when I went to type in the numbers into the number pad, I wasn't able to back out. The aesthetics were pretty cool, though, and I liked the overall look of the game! For one week, I think it looks pretty good, great job!

Pretty well-rounded game, didn't run into any bugs while playing. I will say that I managed to get pretty far in, but I feel like the general gameplay loop itself does get a bit boring after a while. With how the tutorial explained things, I thought that sound was going to be a really big game mechanic, but it never really popped up. Another nitpick I have is that the audio sound that loops while driving doesn't exactly sound natural, and I feel like it could've been swapped with a more soothing hum of some kind. Either way, pretty good submission overall, and for being made in 1 week, I think it's a pretty good game! Good stuff!

This is the greatest spongepop game I've ever played. This also might be the best thing I've ever played in my life. This is it

Very pretty game! I love the artwork a lot, and as other people have pointed out, the PC-98 look is very cool! I will, however, give one nitpick, that being that the noise that plays when scrolling through text is very grating and hurts the ears. I'd probably lower the pitch on it by a little bit. I feel like the story also landed a little flat to me, mainly due to how linear it was, and it felt like a lot of the dialogue, even knowing the context of the ending, didn't really serve any purpose. I think a second pass would go a long way in punching up the story, but given the one-week timeframe, I think you were still able to make a pretty good game! Good stuff overall, and I look forward to any future work that you do!

Honestly, I'm impressed with the upgrade system between nights. At first, I was wondering what the point of the pages was when collecting them, but I like what you decided to do instead. My biggest complaint would be that the bunker door opening animation is so comically long that it saps all of the horror out of the game. I think with a little adjustment, it would go a long way. Slender was also silly and didn't really feel avoidable, but given that the game was made in only a week, I think that can be excused. Overall, great submission and great game!

The art on display is pretty good, and I like the monster design, but as others have probably already called out, I got stuck at the digging part. It's a shame too, since I feel like there's more to the game; however, I'm unable to access it due to a very major bug. If the game gets an update in the future to fix the issues, I'd love to give it another shot! Good job submitting to the jam, and I look forward to whatever you make next!

Oh I absolutely loved this one! The art style and overall vibes are my exact cup of tea. The music especially was really good, for some reason it made me think of Omori and Metaphor Refantazio? I think it was also pretty creative how you had the ending system work, where progress/events carry over on every subsequent attempt. I haven't gotten the true ending yet, but I'm actually going to give that an attempt as well! This game has definitely gotten me interested! I'm sure that it's not everyone's type of game, but for me, it's just the kind of thing I like! Great job, everyone who worked on this game, and Great Game!

Interesting game! I'm sure other commenters pointed this out already, but I felt like there was a lack of in-game direction for what to do. After I picked up the glasses, I wandered around confused and saw the monster just sitting there in the living room. Clearly, time has been spent on making the game. I just wish that I were able to play it a bit more. Especially since the game seemed to really lag on my device. The actual design of the monster itself, though, is pretty cool, and I think you should be proud that you were able to submit something to the jam while being a solo developer! Great job!
