That was fun! There's a lot of cool ideas here. The art is especially strong; though, I did mistake the dark floor in the first world for a giant wall.

Sometimes, I had a little bit of trouble trying to select a specific, small object. Trying to get the cursor just right can sometimes trip me up.

The second world, while very imaginative, is kind of weaker than the first, which had a larger variety of resources to choose from.

The audio is a bit imbalanced. The music in the second level is a bit quiet compared to the first.

That title is... questionable.

Good work!

Developer(+1)

The second world was speedrunned to be honest, out main idea was to make 7-12 worlds, but when we saw the timer again, goal changed just to make planets amount atleast plural.

cool sprites!

The intro scene is eye candy and the overall presentation is nice. The worlds look great and are fun to explore too, but the core gameplay mechanic of timed collection and the need to run back and forth works to diminish the joy otherwise had from exploring these worlds.

Developer

originally we wanted to make a game were you had to hide from aliens steal their stuff and repair the rocket with that however due to the lack of time we were forced to use the worse variant of our game, still we did our best trying to make the game as stunning as possible, for example the colour palette was changed numerous times and sprites were redrawn more times than I can quite literally count, sounds and music to, creating 2 separate 5 minute tracks really took a lot out of me ( since I am responsible for the look and sounds of the game). Anyways we are just glad that you liked the polished part of our game :Dd

Submitted

Your game is good. It has simple but fun gameplay. Beside that, i liked the visual.

Developer

thank you for your input we tried to make as simple and as good looking as possible

Submitted

You have made a really great use of the palette, lot of variation in the sprites, i love it!

Developer(+1)

as an artist I really appreciate when other people like my work, thank you I tried my best, however most of my art and assets didn’t make into the game due to the lack of time implementing features

Submitted

Gameplay loop is fun! it’s simple and very understandable, really like that you have different tasks for every new planet

Developer

I am glad you enjoyed our game :D

Submitted(+1)

Great game! I like the story context & cutscenes. The worlds are also visually unique & interesting

Developer

Idea was to make worlds as different as possible, nobody knows how many and what civilzations exist in this expanding universe.

Submitted(+1)

Although personally these kind of games give me a lot of anxiety, i think the idea is very good and by adjusting some things like the lineart, the precision when grabbing scrap and the unity particles that make me loose the gameboy feeling a little, the game would improve a lot.  Still a great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your honest opinion, I would like to add that this game is far from what It could have been simply due to lack of time and our personal lifes getting in the way

Submitted(+1)

Cool design, this game has a lot of character!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback, while making the game we aimed to make the game that we would be proud of so we did end up putting as much as we could possibly put on characters and attention to detail when it comes both to character design and music and SFX.

great art and sound. I didn't know what to do or where to go though.

Developer

I am glad you liked the sound and art, I spent a long while making them, I’d you want to experience the game the way you are supposed to you can find the description of bare mechanics and goals in the game description page.

I'd love to past my time in a game like this but i wish it was less tedious to collect and repair. something like speed upgrade or capacity upgrade. i got to be honest, i closed the game halfway. but the environments where really cool and i wish to see more from this game.

keep it up! this game has got soul!

Developer

To be honest this is just a prototype we were not able to finish in time and add all the features we wanted to add so only the bare mechanics were added and polished. However we plan to finish the game and make it into something we can be proud of

Submitted(+1)

Happy to hear it! My best wishes to you and your team!

I can tell that a lot of love and care was put into the development of this game. Sadly though, there are a few kinks.

The gameplay is really interesting, actually. It helps immerse you in the worlds you visit. Looting space cars? Hamster poop? Just amazing, feels really adventurous. However it could've been leaned more into, with the player encouraged to explore more junk options. But I understand that the 10 days might've limited things a bit, so that one might be a bit subjective.

Additionally, the impossibility of carrying more stuff if your junk meter is full could've been communicated better, but maybe that's just me.

Finally, a sprint function would indeed be a great choice.

The graphics... oh man. I feel bad for having to criticise them, because they play a huge part in making things seem so adventurous. Things look really good overall, however... sometimes walls look like floors, floors look like walls, half-empty bowls of hamster food look empty... it has a massive impact on the gameplay. At first, while I was trying to make sense of things, I wandered down the starting neighbourhood only to later find that what I thought were walls was, in fact, a floor.

The audio and the tunes are solid.

There are some great ideas here, some of the graphics look great, and I can definitely see the passion. With some polish, things could be a bit better. As always though, good job everyone!

We are so happy to hear your honest opinion about our game and we will take notes, keep in mind this is just a prototype of what will be, and the development was basically rushed in the last 3 days because both of us still had our personal lifes. We had and still have a huge vision for this game and we will continue to expand on it to adding as much depth and liveliness to this game, in fact we already have most of the graphics and sounds for it. In about a months, maybe 2 moths time we should release version 1 of this game, and that should include everything this game has been missing plus 5 more worlds with different objectives and a lot more Lore and jokes.

Developer(+1)

Hey, don't ever feel bad for having to criticize anything at all. Trust me, all reviews are valuable to devs, especially well argumented ones, they are the reason we evolve. Thanks for every word!

Beautifully presented, loved the cutscenes.

By the time I learned the layout I wised I could walk a bit faster, maybe a sprint button (or a double tap) that unlocks in a later level would help a lot.

Very solid entry! Congrats!

Developer

Thanks, glad you liked it.

Idea about "slow progression" or "repetitiveness" reduction will be definitely considered for post-jam version!

Developer(+2)

We are glad you liked our game, keep in mind this is just a prototype of what we had in mind while entering this Jam, we will expand on the idea later, and make a game that we can actually be whole heartedly be proud of.

I also would like to congratulate you with your game, currently it is my most favourite Jam entry (aside from ours :DDD)

(+2)

Nice game, never tried this genre but I like it

Developer

Well you live you learn and so you discover what you like. We are glad you liked our game, but keep in mind this is not yet a finished  game, but a Jam version, we will expand on this idea since we had a blast developing it.

Submitted(+2)

Lol that's one bad pilot! Good interpretation of theme

Developer

We are happy to hear you enjoyed our game, but keep in mind this is not yet the complete version of the game, we plan to finish the game and expand on the ideas we couldn't complete in time

Developer

Glad you liked it!

Submitted(+2)

Cool game. I love your gfx and the style. the cutscenes are great.

I found the time limit is a bit challenging, especially in the hamster world.

Developer

I'll admit its's difficult to play-test the game fairly while having map layout memorized while creating it.

In old-school games there were usually 7-12 levels, with last ones being difficult. Because of how quick the time passes, we had to limit ourselves with 2 levels, and having the second as already the hardest.

Glad you liked it as it is!

Submitted(+2)

The initial cutscene is beautiful, the whole game itself is beautiful and the music and sounds in general are good. The main gameplay loop didn't please me as much, it was a bit repetitive, but it was satisfying to explore the world as it was very beautiful. Good job!

Developer(+1)

If not that strict time and school, y'know we were planning to make houses interactable and probably aliens themselves, so this would be stealth. Glad to hear you liked it as it is!

Submitted(+2)

Funny story, amusing environments. (I've always wondered what a giant space hamster looks like!)

The gameplay loop isn't quite challenging enough to sustain the length of the game. Enemies and puzzles might have made it a bit meatier (I realize that jams are made under strict time constraints, of course).

Also, I found the targeting reticle slightly counterintuitive at first. I was expecting to be able to collect materials that are adjacent to the player in the direction he is facing. It was fine once I figured it out, but it is different from the way object interaction generally worked in 8-bit games.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your honest Input, to be honest we had a lot more planned for this game, that included stealing from homes and aliens that can spot you, Some puzzles and huge maps with a random starting position to really make the game difficult and compelling, however due to time limited time and personal life we were not able to finish what we originally intended, however heads up for the full version, it is gonna be epic.

Also the reticle crosshairwas intentional to further build on that old game boy like feeling, we also though about delaying controls, but that would have made the game a lot more janky, the shaders and crosshair was more than enough.

Submitted(+2)

Nice game, felt like i was playing a game from childhood.

Developer

Thank you for playing and rating our game, our intention from the start was to make player feel as if they are playing an old game from their past.

Developer

Is there any chance that could be one of Atari games?

Submitted(+1)

You've captured that time and feel of old games, idk if there is a similar game that made me feel that.

Developer

could it be "River Raid" or "Montezumas Revenge"? I kind of got inspired by those.

Submitted(+2)

The mechanics get a bit boring fast, but the narrative was funny and original!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing our game, we originally intended to add a lot more depth to the mechanics and already made the art for it, however we simply lacked time to implement them, however heads up for the full game, it is gonna be epic.
