How does your game match the theme?
This is a puzzle game which tries to capture the theme of tetris, since both are based on managing space to fit tile based shapes on a grid.
You should manage the space to match pentominoes to form larger squares. With strategy you can make 5x5 squares to gain maximum score.

A nice twist on Tetris. Not bad mate.

While rating the games for the jam, I set a timer with 10mins so I don't spend much time on each. This game made me forgot about the timer. Very adictive. Love it.
Thank you! I'm glad you forgot about the timer! ;D
great game! very addictive, loved the music and sfx, very satisfying to play. am I crazy or even the last seconds countdown was in key?? amazing <3
Thank you! I'm happy you like it!
You are not crazy!! They are in key! ^^
I enjoyed it quite a bit. The music really sets a cool mood. I could see myself coming back to play this one.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent game! I really enjoyed the cacophony of moving pieces around really fast so it played a lot of notes! I didn’t manage to get a 5x5, but it felt really cool when I managed some 4x4s. Well done!!
Thanks for playing!
I'm happy you liked it!
Pretty fun! I would love to play it on the original hardware! I think it would be great if you made a rom for the game boy!
Got 330 points!
Thanks for playing!
I may do that in later!
I wish I had this one when I was a kid
Your comment just made my day. Thanks!
any plans for a full release? looks very polished already
Thank you for playing!
If i get the feedback that I'm looking for, why not?! But there are still a lot of work to do. It's far from ready.
Perfect game. I like to challenge me to get the biggest square possible. I managed to get some 4x4 only though. Did I hear correctly, that the sound fx matches the chord of the bg music?
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked it!
If you practice more, you can make 5x5 squares easily! :P
And yeah you heard right about the music! ;D
I like it! I sat through a whole play through that felt a little excessive. I think a smaller board would have made me contemplate my moves a little harder, the space requirement wasn't really an issue through the whole game, it felt more like racing the clock, which is good! I think constraining the space would have been a welcoming addition of stress, if you know what I mean ;)
Puzzle games are hard to nail down because they are super simple, but a bad puzzle simply won't do. I don't think this was one of those bad puzzles. Good job :D
Thanks for playing! and your feedback!
I wasn't actually trying to make it stressful. I wanted the players to pace their play through based on the music they play while moving, But after hearing everyone's comments i know that, if this is going to be a full release it's gotta contain different modes for different tastes!
yeah, I guess that's something I struggled with too in this jam. Difficulty is hard because of how subjective it is lol. If only there existed a way to create a game that works for all skill levels 🤔
Wow, what a beautiful game! The soundtrack + sound effects are lovely, and the palette is sublime. Great work!
Thank you!
It's great it hear that!
A really well thought tetris rework :) I wish the grid was maybe a bit smaller to add to the challenge. Really love how inputs plays a song!
Congrats
Thank you for playing!
I will update the game to contain varying grid size and timer, but i don't know when! :P
Nice design work, I enjoyed the retro look to this and the sound effects was a nice touch. I also appreciate that there's a relaxation mode :D
Thanks for playing!
I'm glad you liked it!
Lovely game, I enjoyed it a lot. Somehow for the first few minutes I didn't realise you can rotate shapes! I thought that's to make it more difficult! :)
Thanks for playing! Not letting the player to rotate pieces wouldn't just make the game difficult, it'd be bullying! :D
I'm glad you found out about the rotation! I thought the control scheme below the game was clear enough. my bad!
That's just me being lazy and not looking at the description. Just assumed it's Z/X, and well... X worked! ^^
Haha! I always use X and C. Because on some keyboards, Z button is on the left side of Shift. and that makes it difficult for the player.
I didnt realise you can rotate the pieces too. haha
Really enjoyed this - super simple to play but fun. The inclusion of a "relaxed" mode is inspired and I wish more jam games offered something like this as an alternative to a tutorial.
The use of the limited blue colour palette is a nice alternative to the usual monochrome green in this jam and suits the game.
Question - are the notes played when you move your cursor in the same key as the music?
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked it!
And yes they are in the same key, plus some code that makes sure they play in a nice order, not just randomly.
While I enjoy games like Tetris, this game falls short in fun department, still the polish on this game is great so I can't really complain. 7/10 would play on an airplane.
Thanks for playing!
Could you tell me what would make it more fun? (i mean what would you like to see in a game like this, which was absent here)
A fun entry. I always liked Tetris and all the spinoffs that it led to (not that I was particularly good at it, mind).
Graphics are simple but clean. The sound effects somehow sound ethereal... I never got tired of listening to that lovely chime.
Although there is a clock, I never felt the same urgency as I do when playing Tetris. Not sure what can be done to ratchet up that tension. A shorter clock, which can only be satisfied by making 3x3 blocks faster?
Thanks for the comment!
I actually tweaked the time a lot. And because the main goal of the game is to make 5x5 blocks (like clearing 4lines in tetris). My friends which tested the game didn't like shorter time, so i stuck with 5mins. But later if i do a full game out of this i would give the option to choose the time.
P.S. Sure it's like tetris but i doesn't try to mimick it's sense of urgency, instead i'm encouraging players to move in a rhythmic pace, so urgency won't help that!
I couldn't tell if the movement sound synched to the music, or was just in the same key, but either way, it sounded great and immersive
Thanks for playing! They are in the same key, But it is encouraged to pace your movements by the rhythm to sound better!
I'd glad you find it interesting!
