This game definitely has potential, it just needs more time in the oven (I think that's how the phrase goes)

Firstly, the art is really nice (and probably this game's strong point), and the movement is a bit slow, but it's manageable imo. RIP the music, was gonna vibe to the pulse channels till I realised it had no music.

...but why no sfx? I can understand music, as making actually good music for the gameboy using its 2 pulse, 1 wave, 1 noise channels can be difficult, but the lack of sfx made the game wayyyyyyyyy to empty imo.

Now, I never actual beat this game because of 2 reasons: ( well, I mean, laziness was part of it but the main 2 were)

1) Softlocks.

litteraly, if you go up at the start, go left, go up, and then keep holding up when you exit the planet, you'll actually clip out of bounds, and be unable to get back, effectively softlocking you. Sure, there's the save feature, but even in a different room, aka the one Zani.Pixels mentioned, it's possible to walk to the top / bottom of the well and dog house room, and be unable to get out :/

2) The map is H U G E

i legit got trapped in this room without a fishing rod and couldn't get out lmao


This game is definitely very good, and the fact that it's on an actual gameboy is great, but there just a couple things preventing this game from being really good, that all.

Thank you so much for playing our game! Sadly, we only had a couple days to work on the game out of the jams running period of a week. I know this doesn't necessarily excuse the lack of music and sounds (we wanted these things too!). If you enjoyed our game, we are planning on revamping and improving it post jam. The softlocks are a major issue and during our playtests we came across and squished all the ones we could find, but that turned out to be about... 8% of them :] There was also a ton of cut content that we sadly didn't have time to implement.

- Fast travel, to mitigate the protagonists slow move speed

- More unique tool usage, ie fishing minigame type thing

- More animations to make collecting treasures feel more rewarding.

The art is very polished and has a very unique style! I found a bug that I went into water, couldnt go back and had to restart near the area with the well and the dog house! The character also could walk a little faster!

WOW, just like -~Undertale~-... BUT BETTER O_O...  In all honesty, great art and simple but fun idea, very polished for 4 days.  Great job.

Nice work with the settings and art work, the style is pretty unique! Walking around the beach digging in the sand reminds me of animal crossing.  I will be looking forward to seeing whats next for this project.

There's something really cute about this game. It's a shame it's missing music. There seems to be a lot of games like that. Don't worry about making something silly - it's a just a fun little game jam, go crazy with sounds - it will add a lot of life to the game! :)

Heya! First of all thanks for playing our game ^w^ and I absolutely agree, it’s sadly missing sounds and music. On my end I just couldn’t find free time sadly to learn FX hammer / vgm trackers. Wav files in GB studio sound absolutely horrid (and it’s definitely not made for making sounds for a gameboy game lol) Anyways we are still planning to add sounds and Music after the Voting phase and polish this project a bit cuz we had a lot of fun making it ^w^

Loved the parallax effect on the beach and the presentation overall. The map is massive, treasures felt very sparsely placed.

This is very cute. And the map is surprisingly large! I eventually got completely lost and couldn't figure out how to get back.
