A different kind of spin than most of these kind of puzzle games! I really like what you did with it, and the visuals, particles, and bloom really looked nice all together. Great work!

Developer

Thank you for playing! I had lots of fun putting together the art that our artist sent to me along with visual effects and particles, and it’s great to see it being appreciated by others!

A refreshing take on the puzzle idea I've seen already in this jam! Some additional features I'd recommend are 'R' for restart level and another key for undo. There were countless small mistakes I made that I wanted to quickly restart. Some of those mistakes took a few actions for prep, so a restart was very punishing. Good Job!

Developer

An undo is an interesting feature I’ll have to look into. Happy to know that our game was a good refresher and at least stuck out for a common concept.

From the limited puzzle games in this jam that I played, I found this one to be refreshing. A lot of them required a dice face to be on top or on the bottom, of a specific tile. Some of them tried to add twists, such as controlling multiple dice, but they didn't work for me (a non-puzzle game consumer). Most of it can be brute forced and I usually gave up around the third level.

For this game, the added twist of a dash was enough to make it refreshing. The dash fixes the formulaic nature of rolling a dice, where each fourth face is the same. The player is allowed to dash with a '1'/'2' which can disrupt this order. I was able to understand how the dash work very easily and generally can figure out which combination of faces I need to get back and forth.

More features that might help could be some camera rotation keys or a UI that shows the currently hidden faces.  Most of these puzzle games use the fact that they are hidden and require a lot of brain power from me. I love the aesthetic, I love the juice and I love the sound design. Not quite a fan of the dice design, but I can see it being used to distinguish itself from the typical pip dice.  Overall, loved your game.

Wow, I’m very impressed by your feedback! Thanks tons! If we continue developing this game we’ll definitely add some sort of camera controls in order to see around certain obstacles and other dice faces. And yes, after I found the usefulness of using the 1 and 2 dashes to offset the dice’s faces I immediately tried to use it to its fullest!

Really cool take on that kind of games ! The dash add so many possibilities !

The puzzles are clevers and deliver a lot of cool "haha" moments. The visuals & animations are neat.

Good job :)

Developer

Thanks a ton for playing! I spent many hours on the puzzles so it’s awesome to see so many people enjoying them.

I’ll have to check out your game tomorrow, but I’ll get to it! Our team consisted of 3 people: me (programmer and designer + VFX), Lukemans (sound designer and composer), and Nautillo (artist and 3D modeller)

I honestly loved it. This is my favourite of the games I've played on this jam so far. Very well-thought puzzles, they all have that "think out of the box" element. I beat til level 6 and I will come back for the remaining. Nice music and visuals too. Awesome job.

Developer

Wow! Thank you so much! I personally think that this is my most visually pleasing game and I’m so glad that you agree. Have fun with the rest of the puzzles!

Aside from the game starting on the wrong monitor and messing up the aspect ratio, a very well executed puzzle game!

Really good puzzler. I wasn't able to go past the first exit gate :(. but had fun trying to figure it out :D. Great visuals.

Developer

Thank you for playing! There is a level select if you'd like to see the other levels. Really, each level just takes some patience and thought to figure out!

Really good game, it is really a lot like my own game. the puzzles was really challanging. But the fact that it had poligons instead of dots like a normal dice could make it hard to predict the dash.
i really liked the game though and it was more thought out then my own well done :)

Developer

Thank you! I put a lot of though into each puzzle to make sure the difficulty was right, so I'm really happy you liked them!

Really enjoyed the puzzles in this game, had a very nostalgic feel to it for some reason. The visuals were very pleasing and stimulating and the audio was really fitting. Great job :D
Only issue I had was a few times it was a bit hard to see what was going on when the tiles were blocked by something in front of the camera. Otherwise a very light and fun experience.

Developer

A rotatable camera was originally an idea we had, but we cut that for more puzzle mechanics. Probably should have gone with the camera though since it would've helped more than a few of the mechanics, but live and learn!

Really great puzzle design! Took me a while to understand certain concepts but once I did it was a very fair challenge! Amazing visuals as well. Amazing job!

Thanks for coming to my stream! Here's a recording in case you'd like to refer to it

Thanks so much for playing! Glad you had fun with it.

This was a very fun puzzle game!

Developer

Thanks! Was the game too difficult to figure out or did you find the mechanics and difficulty curve easy enough?

Submitted(+1)

Personally, I thought that the difficulty was good, although I think that in a "full release" version of the game, it would feel better to have a few levels of each mechanic before introducing the next one (not that there's any time for that in a jam lol). My biggest struggle was actually with the perspective at times (judging the distance, especially in levels with falling), although after I had closed the game I noticed that the camera in a screenshot was adjusted, so I'm guessing that there was a way to move it that I just didn't realize.

Developer(+1)

We had to cut our losses in the jam and go for a fixed camera angle, but a way to control the angle would definitely be good to help see the sides of the die. The adjusted camera that you saw in the screenshots is actually the menu scene where the camera spins to show all angles of the level.

Developer(+1)

Oh also, a grid overlay would help to tell the distances, which was another thing we would have liked to have, but never got around to. Definitely things that would’ve helped. Anyway, thanks so much for the honesty feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Oh yeah, a grid overlay would be nice (especially if it could be toggled with Tab or something). I hope that y'all decide to pick up the project and release another iteration of it in the future! It's a great concept!

Developer

I’d love to but personally I think my team and I are a little too busy for that. I would be interesting to see if anything else comes of the project.

I got stuck a few times, thanks for the hints though on stream. Very solid game! Please expand on this game!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Just as a quick question, what would you like to see added if we were to continue development?

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Definitely more levels and mechanics. For example, I can imagine a tile similar to the orange tile that allows your die to jump up to a higher platform. Or mirrors that can be rotated somehow that bounce the lasers  around. Stuff like that. It's already very addictive!

Edit: OOoh! Or maybe teleport tiles. Can only teleport if your shape matches the tile. And each side of the teleporter can require different shapes.

Hello fellow grid-based, dice-rolling puzzler game! :)

Just finished all your levels. A lot of them left me scratching my head for a good while, but never too long! (With the exception of the first one, perhaps. That was pretty straight forward :p) Excellent music as well!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I thought grid-based dice rolling games would be pretty common throughout this jam, but I didn’t know just how common! I’m glad you enjoyed the game, and the music, by our wonderful composer, Lukemans.

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed the music!

I loved playing the game. You will have to make a playthrough so I can learn how to do all the levels because I got stuck on so many.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I will make a video on YouTube in a couple of days for people struggling with the solutions. Remember to use the 2x2 areas to cycle between 3 faces, and don’t be afraid to use the “1” to offset it.
