Love this game! My only gripe is that I had no idea what I was supposed to make sometimes, so I just had to try making everything. (Maybe I missed the hints as to what the customers wanted?)

Felt bad for all those customers waiting as the character started remembering their past life, haha.

Really liked the double meaning of the word "stall", as well.

Great job!

This is a really fun game! It took me a minute to get a handle on it, but once I figured out the arrow sequence thing to actually make the food, I got into it. It strangely gave me DDR vibes because of racing the characters' timers. lol

wow interesting idea. Perfect art, sound and mechanics. i loved this game

This game is amazing! Animations and controls are so smooth. Using the arrow keys to combine items was a great idea and really well implemented. I liked the intro and transition to the main menu, the little crow next to the stall, the little text bubbles under your clients, etc. Great attention to detail :D

One of the best game I've played so far in the jam! loved the aesthetics and the gameplay, although I hate to admit that it took me a while to understand the mechanics at first, it was really fun and satisfying to keep getting new dishes and remember which one to make according to what the souls said. Only improvement would be the "You win" screen. Really great job, Congrats!

I really think this is one of the best, if not, the best game I played in the jam. Everything about it has such a high production quality. I loved the art and the restaurant management mini-game. I think the only thing that could be improved is the "You win" screen, but I'm sure that was just a lack of time more than anything else. Great work to the both of you!

I really liked this game, Whole process is well made and sounds are very crispy. Everything just fits perfectly together. Really good job

This game combined two mechanics that I enjoy in a pleasant and fun way.  I loved the small details such as the little jump that the crow makes and the entity saying goodbye to the souls very happily. This game feels like a warm hug in rainy weather. A few extra touches that would make the game shine, even more, would be to add a sound for when the food is done correctly and one that there is not, as well as a sound every time you click an arrow key, which could get higher pitch until the end. A beautiful soul addition to this game jam.

wow, you guys! super awesome game!
the thing I enjoyed most was your bold and creative choice of theme. an underworld stall to cook for lost souls?! that's just so damn creative. and of course, I am goshing over your stunning pixel art! it's really rewarding to get a meal right and see the shade light up - you really have something special here.
i'm literally beaming!

The game looks amazing,

i have rated it as one of my highest ratings so far even tho its really not my cup of tea mechanic wise, i cant multitask at all, I'm terrible with music beat match type games also. Very well done at doing a game that has very low amount of programming for the mechanic for a big amount of joy(or in my case frustration)

Visuals and feel of this is great :).
Almost more of a mytery game, trying to work out what kind of food they want.
With that, a little more info readily available on what KIND of recipe/dish you have available would be good.
Plenty of good player feedback with the timer for each customer, and great visuals on them being satisfied and a new customer coming along.
Might need a little more hand holding at the start with getting recepies cooked initialy (I did see Tim having a crack in the stream which helped me, but even then it took some working out. May seem obviouse to you, and the info is sort of there, but at first it can REALLY need dumbing down for us new players :P). Once I figured it out, it was fairly intuitive and straight forward to cook meals based off recepies.
Great going, well done on crafting this game in 10 days :).

This game is a delight! The visuals are so nice to look at and it's very fun to do the orders. The difficulty is also very engaging. Not too easy, but not too hard. Thank you for this nice experience!

Wow, just wow. Well done on this game! I can tell a lot of polish went into this since I tested it during the jam.

Is there a point to moving if any guest will accept food from any seat?

The gameplay loop is short and sweet and the little cooking SFX add so much to the otherwise simple tasks. In the playtest, I mentioned I had been confused as to what each dish was called or supposed to be, but the progression of unlocking new recipes gave me time to learn each one and how they might be asked for. Nice solution!

I wish I could offer a little more for ways to improve, but you all did pretty well. Congrats and please keep making games!

Thanks so much for all the kind words! And also a big thank you for helping us during play testing. The game would not work nearly as well if we didn't get that valuable feedback during the prototyping phase. Cheers ^-^

Wow, I'm stunned. This is one of the best games I've played in this jam so far. Elegant ideas executed phenomenally. The level of quality is great not only in gameplay, but in music, story, and art.
The gameplay has limited control. Yet the mounting complexity keeps the player engaged. As I become familiar with the cues and the recipe, I can feel a strong sense of progression from the improvement of my skills. This internal reward is something that I greatly appreciate. Simple ideas, simple controls, singularly focused to create an enjoyable, pure experience.

The visuals, especially the animation of the customer eating and transforming, are crafted with energy that matched the atmosphere of the game. In harmony with the peaceful music and clean writing, this game achieves a distinct, tranquil feel. This feeling is of course further heighten by the final reveal (though I do find the final dialogues a bit tagged on. Would've been even better if there are more hints before). Also, the SFX can use more juice. :)

Overall, a holistically beautiful game. It is rare to see a game doing well in multiple aspects simultaneously. Usually, jam games have some glaring weaknesses in 1~2 domains, but this is not the case. It is crazy that 2 persons in 10 days can accomplish this. I feel like we shouldn't be in the same jam. Incredible!

I like this a lot. The art, the music, it just worked perfectly.

This game was really charming! Something I  find lacking in most games made in jams are UI and assisting players better, but this game was able to achieve both! I love the bounciness but also the responsiveness of every button! It was also nice seeing the arrows scale up and down upon pressing!

Not sure if this is a unity or WebGL thing, but the bottom UI was like 1 pixel of space below so I was able to see some of the ghosts walks away under it!

It was a bit overwhelming, but the concept was really nice and fun! I also like how you made sure I wouldn't get overwhelmed at the beginning because I was still trying to understand the controls, and you made sure no one would hop in until I finish the first order!

I like the "vague" aspect of the orders. The signposting was well done! Most cooking games just show you the picture of their order, but I feel like the signposting makes this game more unique and of course, fun!

I saw below that you were inspired by spirited away, and I thought so too! It definitely gave a bit of that vibe in the restaurants, but the overall art direction was still unique enough to be considered your own style! I love it!

I'm really happy about this game, amazing work!!

Really well made game. This has a nice ambiance to it. I got overwhelmed fast. The controls are nice and the UI is amazing. You did an outstanding job on this game. It is a joy to play.

Really nice game with good visuals. I saw your game on stream, and now I played it for myself. Really cool mechanic for cooking. It felt that some of the hints didn't really help at all, but that added to the difficulty, so I think that is fine :)

Submitted(+2)

This is such an awesome game. I love it! Clever mechanics, good writing, beautiful visuals. I saw it in the stream a few days ago and now I finally had a chance to play it by myself. Great work.

Is this inspired by the work of Hayao Miyazaki, especially by Spirited Away? It has some sort of similar vibes.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! Yes you are spot on. This was inspired by the early scene in Spirited Away where the spirits are running restaurants ^-^ I picked this blue palette because I was hoping it would help give this game its own identity so it wouldn't come across as straight up fan art.

Submitted (1 edit)

The game definitely has its own identity. I've just seen Spirited Away too many times. It's a lovely movie and I will eventually watch it again... and again :)
