This game joins together music and gameplay. To play the game, you must join together two notes with your flute. You must also manage an ecosystem, that has co-dependent elements.

Poetic and relaxing game.
Remind me the ocarina mechanism in zelda.  Which I love.

I don't know If I reached the perfect ecosystem (probably not since the game didn't congrat me for that :P) but I tried every combinaisons and end-up with my perfect island (I did not play the fire melody at the end don't worry. Haha).

Thanks so much for playing!  I'm glad you were able to create your perfect island, which is what really matters!

(Thanks for sparing the island at the end.  I think it is technically possible to get the perfect ecosystem ending while its on fire, which is the true chaotic ending in my mind. XD)

This was a really beautiful experience. The fact that you made the music in the jam was impressive. It was a simple game, but watching the patch of land in the middle of the sea turn into a precious island by playing elemental notes was something else. It spoke to me in another level, telling me that every part of something, even if it's not pretty, is an important part. I hope this gets the recognition it deserves. This was one of the best games i reviewed.

Thank you so much for playing and for your kind feedback.  I'm so glad the game spoke to you, and the interconnected environment theme stood out.  It means a lot!

This feels really nice, and it's the first sim type game I've seen this jam. Great job on the music, and the art fits the feel I think you were going for. The icons you see when selecting notes were great, they gave just about the right amount of information away ahead of the player committing to the action.

A lot of people seem to have suggested giving the game more direction, which I agree with. The ending is nice, and I found it quite intuitive to get to (just be increasing the amount of "things" on the island) but it was perhaps too simple. I think a minor change that could benefit the game would be something along the lines of random events, say bushfires you'd need to put out or an invasive species you'd need to kill off (although that one might be a bit against the tone). Just something small that would give more weight to the song choice the player makes at a given time. It's a jam game though, so I completely understand why that sort of thing isn't in this build but it might be a fun idea to toss around for any future versions.

Ultimately this game feels super unique, with excellent presentation, and an inspired take on the theme. There are a great amount of things you can do, and they fit nicely together with a good interplay between them. The gameplay feels really chilled out, and supports a consistent mellow tone. Well done to all involved :).

Thank you so much for playing, and for your kind review!  In retrospect, I agree it definitely would have been nice to introduce some factors out of the player control, so the player can proactively try to "fix" the situation (invasive species is an interesting idea!).  An overpopulation situation was tossed around during development, but ended up being scraped in favor of keeping the game more streamlined and intuitive.  Glad you enjoyed playing! :D

This is a really beautiful idea, it's neat seeing a jam game centered around music! :)

This was a really unique experience :)

It took me a while to realise that there was a goal in mind, and not just a watching the island react to the music. So, I guess, if you do develop it further- a bit more hand holding might prevent that.

But, honestly, I had fun so :D

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!  We had originally designed the game to not have a end goal beyond seeing how the island changes.  The "perfect ecosystem ending" was added later in development, so it ended up being more hidden than intended.  Glad you had fun, regardless!

Super interesting trying to find the right combinations, and binding that to a tune mechanic makes it all the more soothing! I'd have appreciated a little bit of extra help to get myself going, I reset the environment a bunch of times before starting any progress!

Managed to get the perfect ecosystem! :) The music was really nice and calming, it matched the tone of the game nicely. It took a little while to fully understand it but once iI did it was enjoyable. It felt very unique and I could see it having a lot of potential to be expanded upon.

Very interesting concept, even if it took me some time to grasp what I was supposed to do.

Nice little game that I could see myself playing more in my free time just to listen to the music and relax.

Wow this game is incredible! Definitely one of the best games I played so far, from the Art to the Music to the whole Gameplay loop. Exceptional job!

Really wonderful and original idea. I could have used a little more feedback at the start, but quickly got the hang of it, and created the perfect ecosystem.

The idea was very original and I liked it. Figuring out what different tunes did was much fun

There's a belief that the Hindu deity Krishna created the world through the sound of the flute, and that it represents love and freedom. Flutes are also banned in most casinos because they don't typically have access to money. That's right! You brought me a duck fact so this was the least I could do. Maybe take that second one with a grain of salt.

Really though, this was a neat game! I spent a fair bit of time trying to figure out all the combinations and slowly building up the island. My one gripe is that I had a hard time figuring out what some of the icons were until I combined them and played the song. A slightly higher resolution might have helped there, as I'm still not 100% sure whether I burned down my island or gave all the cacti flowers. Either way, the journey is what matters. Nice work!

The flute trivia is appreciated.  :D

A cute artistic approach to the jam theme that I really enjoyed exploring!

It feels like things could be panned out more in the future to add more urgency, but for the jam this feels like enough to get the point across and still feel finished

Good job, a very cozy experience!

This was a neat, cute little game. It took a while for me to get a hang of what did what, but I think I figured it out. I did find the pixel art a little hard to read at times. For example, I summoned fire when I thought I was summoning vegetation (with red flowers) a couple of times (though I am colorblind and may just be dumb). Otherwise, I liked this.

Thanks for playing!  I'd agree some of the icons are a bit cryptic, especially the wildfire one (I can see it being flowers on a tree - we wanted an icon that was distinct from the note button, but probably a different flame icon would have been better).  Glad you liked it overall tho!
