It’s not the kind of game I usually play, and I’m not sure how well I can review it.
I liked the atmosphere and the art style, and it was definitely evocative in a way. The puzzles weren’t too difficult, and personally I might have preferred a bit more of a challenge. In terms of the theme of the jam, I think this game fit that pretty well too.
Minor nitpicks:
Overall I think it’s a pretty well executed game, and a complete package. Solid narrative, alright gameplay, plenty of levels. All around pretty good if you ask me, although I’m probably not the target audience.
Nice
10/10 would cry again.
In all seriousness though, I really love how the mechanics actually change as the narrative develops. I started off thinking "oh, another game where you have to switch between the two people in the two different worlds" but every new twist on how it worked before kept it interesting.
The trade off for this is that most of the levels end up feeling quite easy, because you have to re-introduce new mechanics each time, but I think for a narrative-focused game the levels should be relatively easy anyway!
Really interesting game!
A very beatifull game! I loved the artwork and music very much. I really enjoyed playing the game. Excellent work!
I saw your game before played on a Livestream and this time I tried it for myself. I have to say the experience was very pleasant, even if I already knew the story I could still enjoy the gameplay.
A great-looking game with a great story and fun gameplay overall.
Really sweet story and premise. The music and art are incredible. A standout from those with similar mechanics, feels really unique. Great work!
I have seen quite a few games with similar mechanics this jam, but this one takes the cake for me.
The unique art, interesting narrative and clever puzzles rally put this on top!
Great work!
A beautiful work of art.
the heart monitor beeping sound gave me a shock lol. Nice game! Nice story!
Beautiful. Loved it.
This is such a beautiful game. Both in its art, presentation, font, and music. The story genuinely brought tears to my eyes in a way very few games have, and it is beautifully told through short, first-person sentences between levels in a way that made me, the player, connect more deeply with the character than I would have otherwise. One of my favorite games in this jam!!
The story was very enthralling with how little there was too this type of game. It was a puzzle platformer, but the puzzles weren't super extravagant. This allowed the game to keep a good flow without irritating the player by wasting precious time by dying and retrying segments over and over again for unfair difficulty. The presentation was very clean and polished which was an A+ in my book.
I played it here:
Thank you for playing and sharing your stream. It was great to see your thought process as you played through the game, and glad that you were saying things we hoped people would say. Also, thanks for the feedback about the controls. As a console player, picking the right buttons was an interesting challenge.
Even with the controls not applying the KISS principle, the overall gameplay was incredibly solid and entertaining all the way through, mainly because the mystery behind the monster was such a strong hook!
I loved how your game fit in the theme both in the story and in the mechanics. Its a very cute and enjoyable game. It has a future to become a complete game!
Thank you so much for playing, and I'm very glad you enjoyed the story. I'm really glad you enjoyed it.
This game was absolutely gorgeous. The way the narrative was told and also enhanced through subtle gameplay tweaks as the monster loses power was fantastic and along with the beautiful art it really engaged me in the world. Definitely one of the more memorable games I've played throughout this jam, really great work!
Hey, thank you so much for playing and I'm so glad that it was memorable for you. I'm so happy that the narrative is really working, and Jess's art is truly incredible. Thanks for the comment!
Really cool! The story, font choice, and colors really helped liven up and keep me wanting to complete levels. The mechanic was well done and the background art was fantastic. I think a little bit of input buffering and coyote time on jump would help tighten up the controls, but besides that, fantastic game! :)
Thank you so much for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Since you're the first person to mention the font, I'll say that it was a custom font designed by Jess, who did all the art. She just said "Do you want a custom font for this?" and five minutes later we had a custom font. Incredible. Thanks for the review.
Damn this hit me. Really well done, loved the artstyle and the narrative. Really good for real.
Thank you for playing and so glad that the story worked for you. I'm very proud of it.
good story, beautiful art.
nice game.
Thank you so much. I'm very proud of the story, and Jess' art. It really works together nicely for two people who only properly met on the Friday.
wow, that's an interesting back story :D
Original design, great atmosphere, and the connecting part really introduced surprising new mechanics. Great work!
Thank you so much for playing and I'm very glad you enjoyed it!
Nice game, I almost cried and got some "To The Moon" vibes. Got jump scared with these unexpected beeps but overall great experience. Didn't except to ce this kind of narrative driven game at the game jam.
Thank you so much for playing and I'm glad the story worked. I've had "To The Moon" in my Steam Library for a while now and maybe this is my push to play it. Or maybe not. Do I feel like being sad? Anyway, I'm so glad you liked it and thanks for the review.
I really loved your game, it reminds me of childhood, when i used to talk with myself. The code is great, the narrative is awesome and the art too!
Thank you so much for playing and for leaving a review. I'm glad the narrative and the art work. I'm proud of the story and in awe of Jess' art, and so seeing that other people like them too has been amazing.
