Did you work in a team?
2 Members. I made the game and my friend Will worked on the music. We collaborate often so it's always a fun process!

Was the resolution a challenge?
It was a balancing act of making sure the text, character portraits and level obstacles all fit on screen without feeling cramped. I feel i achieved this well; after a while i almost forgot i was working with such a low resolution!

What did you learn?
This was my second Low Rez Jam (last being 2017) and i wanted to make something that felt more ambitious. I included features such as character customisation, level generation and dialogue boxes all in one small package. These are features i'd always wanted to do but hadn't pulled off until now! And the restrictions and reasonable deadline helped me do this at a small scale.

AWESOME! Really loved this - everything worked really well! Great graphics which work really well at the res, brilliant gameplay, lovely music! The music did get a little repetitive after a while, but didn't detract from the excellent puzzles. Love the addition of enemies. One of my favourite games of the jam. I made 10 teas!

Developer

Thank you so much! And well done!

This is certainly one of my top 5 games for this jam. The characters and world are full of personality, and the music perfectly accompanies the look and feel of the game.

My game had a lot of dialogue and I struggled to get a good font, but yours is very stylish and clear. Also clear are the neat little UI tricks you used, like coloring the teapot based on the type of tea you brewed.

Going back to the characters, I think that I'm going to bookmark this game as a lesson on how to make randomly generated characters that are charming and filled with variety. Did you see Alien Job Interview Simulator? https://itch.io/jam/lowrezjam-2020/rate/726967 That developer did a similar thing.

Developer

Thank you! It was a fun challenge making it all look good and readable on such a small rez and i'm glad to know i succeeded with that!

Music is so good!  Gameplay is simple first, but its more challenging later. Great job!

I wasn't able to play this myself because I don't have access to a windows device at the moment, but I did watch it get played it on Twitch and it was a lot of fun! The character art is really cool and I just love the entire concept :)

Fun game with excellently crafted art and audio. It really helped set a calm tone inbetween everything trying to kill me. It had the level of polish I'd expect from a released game, not a game that was made for a jam. Excellent job.

The art is great! loved the game. "Sharing tea with a fascinating stranger is one of life's true delights " IROH....

Cute game! And I definitely like the theme. Plus you don't see character selection a lot in game jam games.

Would be nice to have a more chill mode where you get your time back if you die. It seems to be possible to die and then not have enough time to complete the stage, which is a little frustrating.

Such a charming game! I absolutely love the title screen, music, different avatars, and everything else. I'm very tea-addicted, how can I don’t like this game? :D

Also your game idea a little bit similar to mine, but more cute.

Thank you! Your one looks cute too, I'll have to check it out ❤️

In such a tiny space you managed to create a game that really draws the player in. Lt_Blackmist is spot on - this is wonderful as both a game concept and as a work of art.

Thank you!!

This is a game close to our hearts, and it's really very nice,

Love the conversational style of the game letting you know things about it as you play (e.g. controls).  The added elements of danger in the dungeon chambers keep it fresh.

Green tea with milk though, ew!!

Ah a fellow Tea Drinker Game Dev! I'm happy that you liked it!

Also yes, some characters have interesting taste haha!

Love this game as both a concept and work of art, visually and audibly. Was quite easy to figure out what to do and whats what, all in all a great game and thoroughly enjoyed it!

this one took me a second to catch on to how it played, but it was turbo radical. awesome premise.

This game plays, looks and sounds really good! Huge props to the soundtrack, that soothing mood was exactly what this game needed. The color pallete and characters all look really nice. I did screw up a few games, one trying to make the right tea after I managed to fail immediately, and didn't know how to restart ingame. Another was trying to find the teapot in the grey room (which was in the bottom left). Once I got the hang of it though, it was actually pretty fun! Great job.
